http://thenationonlineng.net/verbal-assault-kogi-west-youths-slam-melaye-demand-apology/ Kogi West Youth Leaders Forum yesterday described as embarrassing and irresponsible Senator Dino Melaye’s verbal assault on the wife of National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Oluremi Tinubu. In a statement signed by the spokesperson of the group, Sesere Job Monday, the youth leaders noted that Melaye’s “uncultured and unguarded utterances have become utterly unbearable to the good people of Kogi West who he unfortunately represents in the Senate.” They said: “We are very concerned because the uncultured and unguarded acts of Senator Melaye have become too many. “This reminds us of his careless statement against womanhood and particularly against Governor Adams Oshiomole and his wife, his condemnable statements against former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the latest being his shameful and very unimaginable dirty words on Senator Oluremi Tinubu. “These unbecoming acts also remind us of his involvement in physical assault while serving as member of the Federal House of Representatives and also his penchant to assault his wives and several other behaviours. “These condemnable acts of Senator Melaye, to us, are an attempt to destroy the age long political, social and economic relationship existing between the Yoruba in Kogi and their kith and kin in the South West. “It is needless to count how much the Lagos political structure has accommodated our people. Today, we have our son, Hon Abiodun Faleke, representing Lagos in the House of Reps while another, Emmanuel Aguda, is presently serving as Local Government Administrator in Lagos, and many others we can’t mention here. This is as a result of the spirit of brotherhood, love and solidarity extended to us.” The group “on behalf of every well meaning people of Kogi West, tenders an unreserved apology to Senator Bola Tinubu and his wife over the unfortunate and regrettable action of Senator Dino Melaye. |
– Reports just coming in now indicate there is a struggle for power between the Turkey army and the democratically elected government – Information has it that Turkish soldiers announced on the local Television a military coup around 10:03pm of Friday, July 15 – The central government headed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says it is still in control A military coup has been said to have happened in Turkey. According to BBC, an army group in Turkey says it has taken control of the country with bridges closed in Istanbul, while aircraft are flying low over Ankara, Turkey’s capital. Prime Minister Binali Yildirim earlier denounced an “illegal action” by some military group stressing it was not a coup. He said that the government remained in charge. Traffic has been stopped from crossing both the Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges in Istanbul. There are reports of gunshots in the capital Ankara. It was gathered that gunshot was also heard outside Istanbul police HQ and tanks are said to be stationed outside Istanbul airport. All flights are cancelled. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey CNN Turk reported that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was “safe” but did not elaborate. A statement from the military group read out on NTV television said: “The power in the country has been seized in its entirety.” Who represents the group remains uncertain. A Turkish presidential source told Reuters that the statement was not authorised by the military command. Yildirim told NTV by telephone: “We are working on the possibility of an attempt. We will not allow this attempt. Those who are in this illegal act will pay the highest price,” he added, saying it would not be correct to describe the move as a “coup.” He added: “There was an illegal act by a group within the military that was acting out of the chain of military command. Our people should know that we will not allow any activity that would harm democracy.” There are reports Turkey’s top general has been taken hostage at the military headquarters. On the part of Telegraph, it reported that soldiers were at the headquarters of state TV station TRT in the country’s capital, Ankara. It also learnt that the military coup was part of the Turkish army attempt to overthrow the government of President Erdogan. The bridges at Istanbul across Bosphorus have closed A Turkish soldier stands on guard on the side of the road on July 15, 2016 in Istanbul, during a security shutdown of the Bosphorus Bridge Credit: AFP Reuters learnt that Yildirim stated that a group within Turkey’s military has tried to overthrow the government on Friday, July 15, but security forces have been called in to “do what is necessary.” The Turkey Prime Minister also said: “Some people illegally undertook an illegal action outside of the chain of command,” Yildirim said in comments broadcast by private channel NTV. “The government elected by the people remains in charge. This government will only go when the people say so. “Those behind the attempted coup would pay the highest price.” Below is a tweet o |

http://punchng.com/weve-no-fraud-information-buharis-wife-us/# The United States government says it has no information on the alleged crimes committed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife, Aisha. The acting Public Affairs Officer, US Consulate General, Lagos, Frank Sellin, said this in an email sent to our correspondent on Tuesday. Sellin said this in response to an enquiry made by our correspondent regarding allegations that the President’s wife was wanted in the US and was avoiding travelling to the country. In a message, Sellin said, “Thank you for the inquiry. We have no information to provide on this matter.” The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, had, last month, alleged that Mrs. Buhari was involved in the $185m Halliburton scandal. While reacting to the freezing of his Zenith Bank accounts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Fayose claimed that the wife of the President was a wanted person in the US. He had said, “Even the President cannot claim to be an angel. The estate he built in Abuja is known to us. His wife was indicted in the Halliburton scandal. When that American, Jefferson, was being sentenced, the President’s wife was mentioned as having wired $170,000 to Jefferson. Her name was on page 25 of the sentencing of Jefferson. We can serialise the judgment for people to see and read.” Fayose repeated the claim in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi. He said Aisha refused to travel with the President to the US because of her involvement in the scandal. http://punchng.com/weve-no-fraud-information-buharis-wife-us/# Copyright PUNCH. |
