Did some diagnostic on Simba today to confirm that apart from the two original issues which where: 1. Left and right front signal open circuit as a result of the installed led indicators. The resistors I bought from AliExpress was bad so issue is still pending 2. Rear light open circuit caused by missing alarm battery, and or a cut to install an accessory.
There was no additional issues.
While the scanner was connected... * I reset the service minder as I didn't do it all the last oil change. * Also reset the date and time
So my tour was through the Southern to the North central of Nigeria.
From Lagos - Ondo, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Imo, Abia, Akwa-ibom, Cross-river, Benue, Nasarawa and Abuja.
From Abuja - Kogi, Ekiti, Osun, Ondo, Ogun and then Lagos.
Total distance covered - about 2,600km Total states visited - 15nr Average fuel consumption - 1litre for 22.5km Longest distance travelled in a day - about 700km (Abuja to Lagos) Shortest - about 190km Hotels stays -7nights Total expenses ₦****** Fun level - 9/10 Stress level - 4/10 (seat not comfortable) Challenges - non Issues - dropped bike at a police check point between ore and edo about 150km into the ride, loose gravel! Ego bruised, slider lost. Drove into the eye of a storm and out on my way back to Lagos between Ondo and Ogun State. Went through some bad roads in Cross-river caused my spare fuel tank to come loose and the tyre doing a number on it till it started leaking.
owagbeba: No ironing option…. Using Cura latest ver. Print temp is 205. Print speed is 100 No fan speed setting
PS: for large prints (15mm x 38mm)…. It came out really fine. Especially when I used line infill pattern and 205 temp.
I still think issue is in the setting somehow, increase temp to maybe 210, and reduce speed to maybe 80. Just play with the settings till you find what works.
Any idea the settings that would help eliminate “stringing” in 3D print?
Below is a 6x12mm print. It’s good, though. I could sand it to take out the strings. But I am just wondering if there’s a slicer setting that could give me a fine print for small dimension prints
My setting for this print: 100% full Line infill pattern 1.6mm side thickness
this is not stringing o, with stringing a heat gun or passing it over an open flame will eliminate them. This is more of the printer settings or setup. Do you have the ironing option in your printer settings? If yes turn it on. What temperature are you printing? What is your printing speed? What is your fan speed setting? Those are areas you can look at
owagbeba: Sorry for the late reply.. The gear is good … it paired well with the driving gear. No chance to do a stress test with tiger nuts on the machine.
Will send update soon
Do you take out your filament and store after printing or you leave it on the printer?
I usually leave mine on the printer, if you have a vacuum storage then it's better to remove and store
cowboyT: but it could have been bought in some spare part store here.
Added it to other items I got, but I have since replaced it with a local one, unfortunately there is non in a single colour (black) have to settle with what is available.
Presently on a trip around Nigeria with Simba Trip started from Lagos Nigeria Went through Epe stopped at Benin, from Benin stopped again at Owerri, from Owerri through Umuahia stopped at ikot eyo in Akwa Ibom State, from ikot eyo presently at Calabar in Rivers State thought of going into Cameroon because it's very close on the map, unfortunately am not with my passport so I won't risk it.
Tomorrow I will be heading to the obudu cattle range, and then Abuja
owagbeba: What’s the most complex print job you have ever done? Any photos? most complex... I don't think there's any. The major challenge for me is designing the component especially if it has to fit to another part, the most challenging was a phone holder to be mounted on the handlebar of my bike. Longest print was like over 50hrs long. I actually don't remember to take pictures if the print is more engaging.
Currently working on a drive shaft for this small but expensive choppers. Despite the cost of this appliance, I wonder why the company built the drive shaft with “thin” plastic, and they advertised this a meat mincer….lol 🤣
2. How to remove the circlip on the forks in order to disassemble the forks. It was difficult so I had to do it with the forks still installed but the handlebar removed
3. How the new seals will be driven in to seat and seal properly - there are special tools for this, but expensive for one use. So I used electrical tape as shown in the video, although PVC pipe can also be used for this

29th April 2023 I did the following maintenance work on Simba today: * Front forks oil seal replacement * Front forks dust seal replacement * Front forks hydraulic oil replacement. * Front break pads replacement
Only one fork was leaking and it got worse to were oil pools on the floor. While waiting for the replacement seals to arrive, i decided to repair the seals by reducing the springs in the seal. I brought out the spring, disconnect it at the joint, cut out 2mm from the female end then connect it back fix in the seal and install. I used 5w30 synthetic oil in the forks as I would be draining them again once the new seals arrive. This actually worked as the forks no longer leaked, up to when I replaced with a new seal today.
uwemjack: Are you at the exterior works stage on your construction project? Do you want clean discrete manhole installations? That is easy to the eye? That is easy to access without having to destroy your clean compound? That would not rust over time? That is waterproof and cockroach proof?
Then purchase our prefabricated manhole covers, which comes in various standard sizes.
owagbeba: How lucrative is this 3D printing industry in Nigeria? I mean considering the amount of automotive spares parts that are condemned just because of a worn out plastic part.
Don’t you think anyone with 3D design and printing skills will make a huge gain at ladipo spare parts market?
it's not that popular yet, I print architectural design models and parts for my car and bike, even toys for my boys
AutoManual: which brand should i buy and how much?
Which car do you use?
Go to a shop where they sell car parts and oils, as for power steering fluid or ATF for your power steering whichever one they give you is better than using an engine oil!
AutoManual: My mechanic uses Total Quartz Motor Oil 20W-50 - 1Litre for my steering pump.
When i drive the car at time the steering will hard. But if i off the car and leave it for like 2-5 minutes and start again it will free.
After i gave it to one guy to work the pump the thing didn’t stop. So I used vex to new brand new steering pump, I wanted to buy toks pump but the seller advised i buy brand new. Although he said the choice is mine. initially i was scared of new because its china but another thought in me was that steering pump give too much problem and i don’t know the history of the toks one, and besides the new one will likely last more it was around 15k difference costlier than the toks, after many thought i pick the new one . And i bought the total Motor Oil 20W-50 - 1Litre. And took it to another mechanic to fix and it was then it occurs to me me that I shouldn’t be using engine oil because because when I bought the car the previous owner was using one red atf oil. But my mechanic told me that red oil was not good.
I asked the mechanics there and they said the total 20w-50 is the wrong oil for steering pump. When I explained my problem they said that oil is responsible for why the steering hard some times. They said if i can return the new pump and flush that oil it will be okay. But I declined.
They told me to buy visco 2000 oil. But when I bought the visco 2000 oil. The 20w-30 was written on it also. When i told the mechanics they said it doesn’t matter that visco 2000 oil is very good for steering pump. That what they are using for people.
New They have poured the visco oil on the pump. But i am not really clear on this.
I need help on this. Is the visco 2000 oil good for steering pump?
Power steering pump oil is different from engine oil, you have been using engine oil in your power steering. All the oil you mentioned above are for the motor engine not the power steering pump! You are going to destroy the new pump with the oil you just used.
What you should be using is power steering oil or ATF.
