sz: Good day my brother a d thanks for your reply. I have done a lot of searching and asking for advice i think i will buy the tipper for sure either mack or man diesel. I will be buying tokunbo in lagos or cotonou. People i have asked around say these trucks are easily maintain in our great nation. My only fear that is left is: I see so many tipper in lagos and abuja. I hope the markia not saturated. In abuja last week between wuse 2 and airport i count 45 tippers. Plz let me know what you think. Up Nigeria. !!! what do you see those truck doing? working or damaged. meanwhile you should not be concern about them since you 've a company that would be taking up yours if truly they asked for it and 've been paying you so much for the flatbed Best of all success! |

sz: Good day my fellow hard working Nigerian and Nairalanders. I have an American flatbed that i use to carry a compressor for my borehole business. But anyone that knows about the borehole business know that the Indians have come and changed the entire profitability of the business. So i decided to get out of the business. Just by total luck and went to Lagos and meet with a friend who said he can get me flatbed work. I dismounted the compressor and gave him the flatbed. The truck has been working with a Chinese company now since April 2015 doing well and I am getting paid about N375,000 a month. They fuel it. maintain it and use there own drivers. The truck carries finished products from there factory in Ijebu to a warehouse in Ibafo. The same company said if I have another flatbed or a 30ton tipper they can take it off me. Now I have 2 question, 1) Should I get another International truck that is not common in Nigeria but I can maintain it by getting my parts directly from Canada because I schooled there. Or get a truck that is more common in Nigeria like Mack or daf...Mind you international are one of the cheapest truck manufacturers in the world with reasonable quality. ?? I donno wat to do. 2) should I get another flatbed or a tipper. The company can pay me 375k/month for the tipper and 500k/month for the tipper. Mind you the tipper is more expensive too. Please advice. Note I import all my machines myself. I don't by Nigeria use because you are flushing you mony down the toilet and I don't by tokunbo because it too expensive. Any advice will be nice. (1) Since you have been using the international truck and know the nitty-gritty of the vehicle, go ahead and import it so far it is the company that maintain it (according to you), no problem if they are not complaining about it (2) If you have the capital to purchase the tipper that would give you higher RETURNS but be very sure you calculate the period of realizing your capital. If not stay with the flatbed Best of luck! |

lukman22: @Uwish,I actually did all that u stated here but u knw naija, they will hardly tell u the truth. I went with a known mechanic that specialize in that brand of truck. He checked and advised I should buy it that he will service and put the little issues in order wen we get back to our base. The only way is if one must buy a used truck,he has to do a thorough overhauling. Or at best,should just buy a direct toks from europe @lukman22 Not just any mechanic you should have called but the one that the seller had been using and you will pretend as if he is the one will be maintaining it for you after the purchase. Nevertheless, thank God you have overcome the challenges. How is business now? Thanks |

@lukman22
The lessons for anyone buying Nigerian used: ASK 1. For the time of first purchase 2. How long has it been used 3. Reason(s) for willing to sell it 4. Condition of the engine (Systematically ask for mechanic of the owner as if you want to be using the same mechanic, because it is from the mechanic you can really download true state of the vehicle. If you can get to know the last driver, it will be of good to you) NB: (i) Price it to the half of the "Tokunbo" price e.g if "Tokunbo" cost N3m, price it between N1.5m and N2m at most (ii) Be financially ready to replace virtually everything has it will be coming up damage (iii) First start using it for local jobs before embarking on up-country jobs, if your driver certifies it okay |

lukman22: @Uwish. I just stumble on this thread 2day and I must comend u on ur gud work.I love trucking business and presently I have 1 unit of 30ton MAN diesel truck. I bought it july 2013 used ,overhauled and put in a good shape. It has being a rocky road ever since. Engine knock 2times,compressor,rims,tyers busting ( hardly last a month),axle issues. I ended up changing the engine to a direct tokumbo engine. Right now,things has started looking promising Wished I saw this ur thread earlier b4 I venture into the biz,I would have been in a gud position to get it right in the first place.I would have gone for a direct tokumbo instead of Naija used. That's the truck below Thanks for sharing your experience. Nairlnders, Be careful of buying Nigeria used truck you are not sure of |
Politics › Plaintiffs, Seeking To Stop Buhari, Withdraw Eligibility Suit by uwish(op): 11:20am On Apr 22, 2015 |
Plaintiffs in the two of the three pending suits challenging the eligibility of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to contest in the March 28, 2015, presidential election have been withdrawn. Justice Adeniyi Ademola who is presiding over the matters at the Federal High Court in Abuja subsequently struck out the matter after the plaintiffs indicated their intention to withdraw the suits on Wednesday. Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) who is representing one of the plaintiffs, told the judge on Wednesday that his client decided to withdraw his suit to afford the incoming government time to focus on the “enormous task” of governance. When the second case which was filed by Max Ozoaka was called, his lawyer, Dr. Chike Amobi, also adduced similar grounds for withdrawing the suit. With the Wednesday’s development, the remaining pending eligibility suit against Buhari is the one filed by Ayakeme Whiskey (FHC/ABJ/CS/68/15). As of the time of filing this story, no date has been fixed for the hearing in the pending suit. Buhari, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, was on April 1 declared winner of the election, defeating the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party. The plaintiffs had filed the suits challenging Buhari’s eligibility, asking the court to declare him ineligible to contest in the election on the basis of his alleged failure to submit his certificate of academic qualifications along with his Form CF001 to the Independent National Electoral Commission. The plaintiffs claim that Buhari’s failure to submit his certificate of academic qualifications contravened provisions of sections 131 and 318 of the 1999 Constitution and section 31(3) of the Electoral Act, 2010. source: http://www.punchng.com/news/plaintiffs-withdraw-eligibility-suit-against-buhari/ |

ThaiAlNigeria: Greetings uwish, Thanks for the great post. It was a good read. I was wondering, what is your average monthly repairs/maintenance cost excluding tyres for each truck? Thanks for the great post. My humblest regards, Your Friend. The cost of servicing = N30,000 while repairs/maintenance depends on the stress and damages on the truck. At time no cost on repair but only servicing meanwhile in another month the repair might be on high side |

Undoubtedly a vast investment potential exists in the domestic liquefied petroleum gas filling sub-sector of the Oil & Gas Industry in Nigeria. A large proportion of the middle and upper socio-economic class of people depend on gas for cooking purposes. So are industries, government establishments, hotels, hospitals, restaurants, bakeries e.t.c
A statistic for the country some years ago showed that a mere 5% of the consumption potentials of LPG were attained. It is therefore evident that we have a long way to saturate the Nigeria LPG Market if it were to be fully developed because if a domestic consumer is sure of getting LPG when and where he needs it at the right price, he would most willingly convert from firewood, coal or kerosene to LPG. this is not also a small scale business |
