The condition of the engine injector 3. May be your truck is new or old 4. The point of delivery in the city you are going 5. The distance of your parking yard in Lagos when you return For more information, call 08132820002 or email:haulagino@gmail.com |
Hello every1, STEPS TO HIRING GOOD DRIVER Though might be 100% perfect, but I have tested them and to some extent are reliable REFERRAL: Don't pick a driver out on the road or through advert or else you mis-pick, but let somebody recommend a driver that he can trust for you and the person will help you talk to his sense not to disappoint him and Bleep him up before you, though the person will not be one of the guarantors. GUARANTOR: Let the prospective driver have three(3) that are ready to bear the grunt when things go wrong by letting them know exactly your terms/conditions and they will sign an undertaken. I mostly accept the landlord, clergyman and any other person or people that I will visit to let them know the consequence of what they are about to enter in case of "in-casity". Then 2 member of his immediate family is acknowledge and they sign to my office employment form. EXPERIENCE: The working experience is also very important especially on the kind of job,(flatbed body, covered body, single trailer, dump truck i.e tipper etc), the type of trip he goes (local or up-country), the kind of truck he has driven before and lastly his year of experience. WORKING HISTORY: Find out where and where he had worked before and reason for leaving, if he is the one that jumps from places to places, he will soon leave you, be careful! |
HELLO EVERY1 Am most grateful for all the compliments so far both on this forum and those sent to my box. By the special grace of God I will continue from where we stopped by Saturday latest, it was due to my shocked-up duty. In fact it is not easy to be a teacher/lecture with haulage business. Thank you all, see you! |
@blink182 Thanks so much |
SOLUTION TO THE ANTICS LAZINESS: If your driver is living in the vicinity of the business that is when this antics is very common, one thing I discuss is that if you get driver outside your vicinity they perform better because they have no family around them, so they give all to the work. Example, if your business is in Lagos and your driver's family is from Oyo, he gives all and works better than the driver whose family is in Lagos. Another to overcome this antic even if your driver and his family is in the vicinity of the business, he is to give your driver target to meet up in a month as long as there are job to do and encourage him with incentives. CASH DEFRAUD: Try as much as possible not to let your driver be in contact with the business money, even if the balance is to be paid up-country where he has gone to deliver a job, give him the bank account they must pay the money before leaving the place. DIESEL SHORTAGE: This is the area that driver always kill the business by buy adulterated cheap diesel or not buying up to the amount needed. The very solution is for you to know the amount of diesel the vehicle consume to almost destination in Nigeria and construct extra tank even if your tank is not big enough, then have a have a standby filling where you fill the tanks before leaving the departure point. ACCIDENT: Make sure your truck is insured under comprehensive with a reputable insurance company. Then let the driver know that if he drives carelessly he will have him self blamed if he dies. We continue from here you can now get me 08132820002 for more information or enquiries |
Hi, Let us consider the antics of the driver in the business. Be aware that driver contributes up to 75% of the business success, hence, they are very paramount to the business and that is why they behave awkwardly because they know you can not drive the vehicle by yourself. DRIVER ANTICS LAZINESS: Some of them when they have worked a little and have been able to get some amount in their pocket, they tell different excuses to escape, even when you have target to meet up in order to recoup your investment. CASH DEFRAUD: If you allow your driver to come in contact with money of the business, you can not get the money in full again DIESEL SHORTAGE: What they do in this case is that they either buy adulterated diesel which kill off the injector fast or they would not buy enough fuel in order to pocket the balance. ACCIDENT: Through careless driving they can ruin the business fast "EVIL" COLLABORATION: They can collaborate with mechanic or government agencies to dupe you especially those who go on long distance you can now get me 08132820002for more information or enquiries |

Hello Nairalanders, Why I write the last posting on "How to know a good manager" is because many investors have always been complaining about the managers of their trucks and for whosoever wants to come in as truck manager to know what and what to put in place to be able to attract prospective investor. In this haulage business, the truck manager and driver are the 80% determinant of its success. Next we are going to talk on "How to secure a good DRIVER" For more info send your email to: haulagino@gmail.com or 08132820002 |
@coomeni, Many places to buy in Nigeria, but I cannot tell you the precise amount because it depends on the brand(type), model and the grade. @blink182, Thank you |
Hello Everyone, Long time, no see as my people would say. Let us talk about how to know a good haulage manager: (1) REFERRAL: No matter what the manager claims to be in the business or his achievement, before you go into any contract with such let him give you a referral that you can verify his real person from. The referral must be truthful with evidence of their relationship. Make sure you dialogue with the referral face-to-face. (2) TRAINING: The manager must have a considerable cognate years of experience not less than 4 years, that would have made him to know the nutty-gritty of the business (3) COMPANY NAME: Make sure you register your company with CAC, even it it is only a register name, so that investors can have confidence in you. (4) LAWYER: The service of a lawyer to sign the deed of agreement which will make your investors to take you serious is needed. Make sure that your Lawyer (and any other professional advisor) understands the specific needs of your business. (5) OFFICE: It is important you have a visible office where you can be met to carry out your normal businesses and at the same time, it gives your investor rest of mind that you are a responble business personality. (6) ENGINEER: This is very pertinent to possess so that you can call upon him at anytime the truck breakdown and he would readily available. Make sure he is an experience one that can handle the type of truck you have. (7) BUSINESS PROPOSAL: You should have a business proposal that you can send to you prospective investors. The proposal should contain: a. Historic Profile of your company b. Managerial set up of your company c. The good job you have done some people in the past and presently d. What the investor tends to gain in the investment e. The risks involved and their solutions and so on. ( DEED OF AGREEMENT: Your lawyer should help you in preparing a comprehensive but simple to understand Deed of Agreement stating clearly the terms/conditions involve in the contract. Don't enter hastily into agreement that you can not fulfil with an investor, because once you signed, you are legally binded. |
Just as I said yesterday, today we shall talk about MODES OF OPERATION You need to register your truck at a lorry/tipper park for some specific amount depending on the area and suppliers of the good who are in need of your services are already waiting for you. if you are specialise in carrying sand or laterite(clay soil), they will give you the number of loads they require, after which you will negotiate the cost based on the size of the business and distance between the place you are supplying to. The supplier is required to pay some deposit out of which you buy diesel which you will use for the day and when job of the day is completed, the balance is paid based on the number of trip. It is from this that you pay your driver and motor their agree commission of the deal. Otherwise, you can have an agreement with your driver, if he is a trustworthy person to be delivery specific amount for your every week depending on the tonnage of your truck. For 15ton truck,it is N90,000 per week, for 20tons, it is N120,000. But this can be lowered if it is the driver that is taken care of the maintenance of the truck and the payment of the motor-boy. The 15 and 20 tons truck are usually used to convey sand, gravel and clay soil. For the trailer(30tons), they usually carry granite from quarry and their operation is almost the same as above, only that you register at quarry site where you get in contact with supplier(agent). The driver usually deliver N180,000 per week if they don't take maintenance inclusive. If that is involved then you will have to negotiate with him. Hi, Quite a long time because of the pressure of time to do other thing. We have started talking about Dump truck business which I say is one of the best in haulage because of the following factors: 1. They always get job. almost through out the year because people will just have to build starting from individuals, companies to both state and federal govts. It is only the rainy season that their rate of turn-over reduces, hence the need to get a high raise truck such as MAN Diesel(20tons) because it has auxiliary gear which enable it to enter any kind of soil or Volvo FL6-18 (20tons), but they still get work and this they would have made up during the dry season. If you target to start with 30 tons, I can candidly suggest you buy MACK truck because it can carry heavy load such as granite and since most of the quarries are not swampy, it will easily function there without sinking. 2. You can easily be tracking down your truck and the driver because their most jobs is always local within the state except on few occasion the do go to the neighbouring state such as from Ogun State to Lagos State. 3. It increases the longevity (life span) of the truck because it does not travel so much long distance so often. Tomorrow, by God's grace we will be talking about the modes of operation in dump truck business

DUMP TRUCK BUSINESS Let's talk a little of Dump truck, which is one of the haulage businesses that is very lucrative because of many factors. Dump truck is used to making materials needed for construction of building of residential apartment, company etc available from the point of purchase to the various sites where they will be used. Waooh @blink182, Thanks for your comment, it will really spur me to give my more best by the grace God. I only pray for more time for this haulage business takes most of your time if you are into it full time. |
@blink182, Very nice thread. Thanks a lot, i will try put in more best as within my capacity and experience. Though I may not be 100% perfect but this I believe would have given some good information and courage in the business. |
Daddy, happy birthday to you sir! |
@i2j Most newer trucks have Air Suspension. For example most MAN trucks from 1990 and newer have front suspension=Spring/Steel and rear suspension=Air (Balloon). Is it OK to buy these trucks or is it better to buy the 80s models with full Spring/Steel suspension (front and rear)? Thanks for your compliments, some can object to my opinions on haulage due to different experience and other factors and that is why I always say my saying is not the final. Hence I have said that a Grade A truck head is between 2.7m and 3million. For all, I have been dealing on truck with full spring/steel suspension (front and rear) because of the state of Nigeria roads (Jaga jaga) -- dead trap and most of the time the front suspension=Spring/Steel and rear suspension=Air (Balloon) get burst easily and the truck that carry Air suspension are always very too low to the ground and it is not suitable for our roads. My personal preferred choice is IVECO turbostar (1996 model), it is very high, strong, speedy and less fuel consumption. The picture, I hereby attached. For the flatbed trailer back, it is good to be spring as well and with two axles carrying eight tyres R11/22.5 instead of that of three axles carrying six tyres with bigger rim size.

In accordance to the question raised by some people, let us talk about the MAJOR RISKS IN HAULAGE BUSINESS & THEIR PANACEA 1. TRUCK: For you to have good returns on your investment, make sure you go for quality and well sound truck, if not nobody will want to give job to a truck that the delivery is not safe and driver too will capitalise on that to be raking money from you. Hence read my posting on the qualities you look out for before buying any truck. NB: Please try as much as for possible to run away from Nigeria used truck and secondly it is my candid advise (though not compulsory) that you don't buy right hand truck to come and convert later, it develop problem not too later in the future. 2. DRIVER: They in fact contribute immensely to the success and failure of the business. If you don't get it right with driver, your investment will go down into the trash (God forbid). This we will discuss later. 3. ACCIDENT & THEFT: Due to many factors ranging from bad roads to driver's recklessness. Install vehicle tracker to checkmate the attitude of the driver, then obtain comprehensive insurance for your vehicle and good in transit insurance against theft of the goods 4. MECHANIC: They can connive with the driver There are many other risks that I cannot post here, these are just the major ones even the posted ones are not detailed enough. For more info send your email to: haulagino@gmail.com or 08132820002 |
@ode remo Thanks for your observation, but I want you read my posting along the line very well before making comment. If you are talking about the income generation and the analysis, behold I said "BE WARNED THAT THE ANALYSIS ABOVE IS NOT AUTOMATIC, THERE ARE OTHER CONTRIBUTING FACTORS THAT WE WILL DISCUSS LATER"and if you are referring to the capital to start the business, I as well said, "NB: This is not 100% certain, you can do the pricing by yourself. "So I have already put a benefit of the doubt, because is no gainsaying in saying that you will be making so so amount every month, but all these are just estimate and not actual amount. Thanks. We will talk next on the Risk involved in the Business |
Thanks for the info.1) What can N2m buy for me? I would also appreciate if you can send me the price range of these fairly-used trucks. Please I will need to tell me more about the haulage business i.e the minimum capital involved, the major risk and other information necessary. OK, WELL HOW MUCH IS AN AVERAGE 20T OR 30T TRUCK. TOKUNBO OR NIGERIAN USED? OR WHICH ONE DO U ADVISE?Though I promised to talk on tipper or what we can call dump truck, but because of these questions sent into my email box, I will talk a little more on flat bed. Majorly they want to know the capital by which they can start haulage business: The capital depends on series of factor such as Type of haulage you want to go into (20tons or 30tons, Flat bed of container built body; Brand of truck(IVECO, MAN, DAF or MACK), The model of the truck, the tonnage For a 20tons container built body, it will cost between 2.8m - 3.2miilion, For a 20tons flatbed body, it will cost between 2.2m - 2.6miilion For a 30tons with container built body, it will cost between 4.7m - 5miilion, For a 30tons flatbed body, it will cost between 4.2m - 4.7miilion. NB: This is not 100% certain, you can do the pricing by yourself. Then you have the following to do on the newly acquired truck: Tractor Head (Grade A) N2,700,000.00 Flatbed Body N1,500,000.00 N4,200,000.00 ELECTRICAL WORK MECHANICAL WORK: Servicing Parts, Engine Oil, Oil Treatment ACCESSORIES: Battery Front Tyre Jack (32 Tons) Tarpaulin Fire Extinguisher Wheel Spanner C-Caution VEHICLE REGISTRATION For more info send your email to: haulagino@gmail.com or 08132820002 |
Hi Nairalander, THE RIGHT VEHICLE TO USE There are lots of vehicles that can carry goods from one place to the other. Tankers, trailer, tipper, lorries etc are all used in haulage. in choosing vehicle, you should be to know what brand of vehicle is use most in transport what products? There is no specific answer to this, but there are some factor you consider before choosing your truck to use, such as: GRADE: Make sure any truck you want to buy is grade 1 since it imported fairly used. Do not buy any Nigeria used truck if you don't want to give yourself hypertension. INJECTOR: As much as the engine must be in good condition, you must be wary of the injector, this is the powerhouse of the engine. HORSE POWER: For a trailer the Horsepower HP should not be less than 320 and for single, not less than 250 DURABILITY: MECHANIC: Make sure there is availability of experienced and honest specialist that can handle the vehicle anytime it has fault. SPARE PART: Make sure the spare part can easily be found in Nigeria and not too cost. CHASSIS: Much had been said about flatbed haulage business, next we shall be talking about TIPPER. For more info send your email to: haulagino@gmail.com or 08132820002 |
Hurray, business yanfu! yanfu!! The multi-billion dollar Dangote Cement plant, located at Ibese, Ogun State will be opened on Thursday. This is an ample opportunity for investors/managers. For more info send your email to: haulagino@gmail.com or 08132820002 |
HAULAGE PRACTICAL OPERATIONAL SYSTEM After getting the truck, you need to first do the servicing and in the course of the make sure you block the thermostat because the white men used it to make the engine hot to some extent because of the cold weather of their environment but our own weather is already hot. Therefore tell your mechanic to block it. The front tyres in the tractor should be changed because many of them are already weak and ready to burst at anytime, then you shall be at the mercy of LASTMA if you are operating in Lagos. Under this sub-topic, I shall use getting a contract of conveying cement or Iron rod from Apapa. The following are the systems: 1. The agent or the company you are contracting for, will get a form for you that is called "Authority to Load" by which your truck will be allowed into the terminal port, but trust Nigeria upon all this you will still need to "pour water on the floor" at the gate. 2. At the point of loading, you will be giving a Waybill in four copies which show the descriptions and the destination of what you are carrying and the authority to carry it. The original copy is retained at the point of loading, one copy id for the place of delivery to attest that you really delivered the job and the copy back to the point of loading will be signed by the collecting side by which you will be paid your haulage balance and the last copy is for you own documentation. Is it that easy you want to ask? Yes and no, there are other thing you experience that cannot be explained here but you pass through them practically. For more info send your email to: haulagino@gmail.com or 08132820002 |
