The FIFA men's football rankings were released on Monday morning. A lot of surprises came with the positioning of several countries.
There was no movement in the positions of the top six, with Germany retaining top place in the world, while Denmark and Netherlands climbed into the top 20. surprisingly the latter won't appear in the world cup at Russia next year.
England moved up three spots to 12th in the latest FIFA Ranking as Germany retained their grip on top spot. The Three Lions booked their place at the World Cup finals during October and have been rewarded by leapfrogging the Wales, Mexico and Colombia.
Meanwhile, Germany retained their grip on an unchanged top six, which comprises of the world champions followed closely by Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Belgium and Poland.
Just a little bit behind them, France moved up to seventh position, while Spain moved up three spots to eighth. Chile, who missed out on qualifying for the World Cup, are ninth with Peru completing the top 10.
The Netherlands made a big jump of nine spots into the top 20 despite failing to make the world cup for the first time in a while, while the Republic of Ireland and Scotland both broke into the top 30 by climbing eight and 14 spots respectively.
