A 25-year- old graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Nazir Nortei Alema, has thrown his family into a health-threatening stress, as he joins the swelling ranks of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a terrorist organisation.

With a degree in Geography and Rural Development, he is one of the 10 suspected Muslim youth from Ghana who have finally taken the decision to join the terrorist group, whose stock-in-trade is public beheading of their opponents or those they regard as infidels, attracting a worldwide opprobrium.

Their decision has activated the alarm bells over a subtle recruitment drive for vulnerable Muslim youth in especially public tertiary institutions in the country.

Nazir’s fateful trip to the training grounds of the so-called Islamic State, as they are derogatively referred to, started on 2nd August 2015, soon after his completion of the mandatory National Service in Ghana, which he undertook at the Statistical Service.

Narrating the story of his son to Daily Guide, Abdul Latif Alema said the young man had earlier sent a whatsapp message to the family, indicating that he was on his way to Prestea from where he would proceed to Takoradi on an official assignment.

His brother, Kabiru Alema, who accompanied his father to Daily Guide yesterday said a subsequent message negated the earlier one.

“He said that he had lied to us when he said he was on his way to Prestea and Takoradi but that the truth is that he was on his way to join the ISIS,” he said.

Extracts from Nazir’s whatsapp message, received by Kabir read as follows: “Pray for me, for I will never forget you in my prayer and it’s my hope and prayer that we meet again if not in this world then in Jannah (paradise). I love you all. May Allah grant us understanding and guide us all to the straight path. Asalaamu alaikum.”

Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, the General Overseer of the Glorious Way Chapel, has once again cautioned Christians to be wary of the head pastor of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) because there is more to the collapse of his building than meets the eye.

According to him, Pastor T.B. Joshua is a principality fervently working to attract as many people as he can to Satan.

“…look at what is happening to him. You came for a programme in Ghana and that led to the death of four people. You also woke up one day and a whole building collapsed, killing over forty people.”

“…this is evil at work, because I know people who have to make human sacrifices in order to be promoted in the spiritual realm…I know some people will vilify me for making this known,” he said on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show.

Rev. Owusu Bempah further stated that he has the permission of God to disclose the demonic deeds of the SCOAN founder and leader.

He claimed that the incident, and the subsequent deaths of people, was an act of human sacrifice.?About 40 people have been confirmed dead in the building which collapsed last Friday at Prophet T.B. Joshua’s SCOAN Church Headquarters in Ikotun, Lagos State.

In a new movie Mama Africa produced by Paul Gee, it seemed as if they were competing against each other to determine who was “bladder."

Kyeiwaa, who had always wanted to act alongside Patience Ozokwo, believes she did better than Patience in the movie.

“I have always wanted to meet Patience Ozokwor and prove to her that I am Kyeiwaa, and I did just that on our latest movie. I know Ozokwor is a good actress, and I have always wanted the chance to prove to my fans that I am better. I went all out in the movie, and people who have seen the movie say I killed it," Kyeiwaa told Showbiz

Kyeiwaa said before she entered the movie scene, she had always admired Ozokwor. “Patience Ozokwor is a good actress whom I admired and had desired to work with for a long time and that is the reason I went all out in our latest movie."

Movie producer Paul Gee told Showbiz he featured Patience Ozokwor and Kyeiwaa because movie enthusiasts wanted to see the two act together.

Nigerian movie star Jim Iyke was involved in a brawl yesterday, at the Crave Café at Adjiringanor, East Legon in Accra.

According to an eyewitness account, some people were eating at the café, at about 5pm when a stout-looking gentleman in a black Range Rover with a Nigerian number plate, came to the café.

Jim Iyke also arrived about 20 minutes later in his Sports Chevy with a Nigerian number plate, and engaged the man in a heated argument over $10,000 which later turned into a nasty brawl on the street.

The eyewitness further explained that it became difficult for those around to separate the two, and at a point, Jim Iyke wanted to get into his car to pull out something which was suspected to be a gun, but he was prevented by those at the café.

The other man left but returned shortly with two policemen, one in mufti and other in uniform who arrested Jim Iyke and took him away.

But the eyewitness told The Ghanaian Times newspaper that barely 20 minutes later, the actor resurfaced at the venue, which created the impression the case had been ‘settled’ by the two policemen.

The Legon Police Commander in a telephone conversation, with The Ghanaian Times said, the men he dispatched to the venue had information of the scuffle, but those at the scene were reluctant to give the police in-depth account of what actually transpired, and so they were unable to bring the two men to the police station.

Former Ako Adjei aid of late Ghanaian president just confirm that Kwame Nkrumah snubbed Mandela in 1962

Mandela was, however, quoted by renowned Ghanaian Journalist, Cameron Duodo, in his article ‘Mandela and I’, to have said: “Ah, Ghana! I was there in 1962. I went there to see President Kwame Nkrumah. But I never got to see him. I waited for several days, but the Foreign Minister, Ako Adjei, said I would have to wait, as Nkrumah was about to address a meeting of other freedom fighters.”

According to Mandela, “So I didn’t think it would be useful to hang around in Accra and I left for Liberia. There, I was received promptly by President William Tubman!”

In the article, Cameron Duodo said: ‘I had been warned that A K Barden, director of Nkrumah’s Bureau of African Affairs, preferred the Pan-Africanist Congress to the ANC. [I later learnt that Mandela's informer was the raving beauty, Genoveva Marais, Nkrumah's very good "friend", who hailed from South Africa.]’

Nkrumah’s Government’s preference for the Pan-Africanist Congress to the ANC was confirmed by K B Asante on the XYZ Breakfast Show on Monday.

K B Asante who worked closely with Dr Nkrumah at the time, told XYZ Moro Awudu that: “…what I know is that Nkrumah’s policy, based on our intelligence reports and so on, did not favour ANC. We were then - I was the African Affairs Secretary - were supporting the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) because they were more active; they believed in armed struggle, they were fighting for real independence for South Africa. ANC was there but we thought it was not that active”.

According to him, Nkrumah’s Government, after the Sharpville massacre on March 21, 1960, in which 69 South African students were gunned down, including 8 women and 10 children, by the apartheid Police and 180 others injured, should have reviewed its anti-ANC policy since Mandela had at the time, become a “freedom fighter” contrary to the “bourgeois” perception the Nkrumah Government had of the ANC.

“…We should have changed policy but unfortunately, the Bureau of African Affairs did not realise that things had changed; that Mandela and his group were then leading the fight, and so when he came here - in fact I wasn’t aware that he came, later I heard he came - they [Bureau of African Affairs] did not provide access”, K B Asante recalled.

He said unlike today: “…Before you saw the President those days, you had to go through the appropriate channels, and the Bureau of African Affairs did not facilitate that contact and therefore the ANC, I would say was not - even in recent years - has not been happy with Ghana…So that is true, we in a way snubbed Mandela”.

Madiba's victory over apartheid had so many positive impact on the Africa continent, I think Madiba is the greatest of the two.

The Editor of the New Crusading Guide, Mr Abdul Malik Kweku Baako says Kwame Nkrumah was the greatest African.

He was contributing to a debate on whom of South Africa’s first black President, Nelson Mandela, and Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah, was the greatest African.

The debate, which has gained grounds since Mandela died last week, has divided many Ghanaians.

Mr Baako said while Mandela could be described as one of the greatest Africans, he did not measure up to Nkrumah.

“The greatest leader, for me, was Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah”, Mr Baako said on Peace FM’s ‘Kokroko’ on Wednesday.

He said Ghana became the first country in Sub-Sahara Africa largely due to Nkrumah’s efforts.

Ghana’s independence, he said, had an “electrifying, catalytic effect on the black race.”

Mr Baako added that while Nkrumah was the greatest African, Mandela was the continent’s most famous individual.

Kwame Nkrumah, (21 September 1909 – 27 April 1972) was the leader of Ghana and its predecessor state, the Gold Coast, from 1951 to 1966. Overseeing the nation's independence from British colonial rule in 1957, Nkrumah was the first

President of Ghana and the first Prime Minister of Ghana.

An influential 20th-century advocate of Pan-Africanism, he was a founding member of the Organization of African Unity and was the winner of the Lenin Peace Prize in 1963.
