BED BUGS in UNIUYO hostels is now a menace. I
never knew bed bugs till I laid on a bed in a
hostel. I don't know the fucker that's standing as
the SUG president. I've complained enough, I've
had 'unending' sleepless nights. If everyone is
gonna' keep quiet, I'm not gonna' do that.
Porters will tell us contribute money and fumigate
our rooms, imagine the shit from their mouth, I
even heard one saying it's demonic, that we need
prayers; SUG personnels will tell you 'we'll look
into that'. They only know how to share sachet
water when they want to campaign. In fact, the
living condition campus hostel is laughable,
inimical and
unpalatable for human existence. You see
students daily
spraying one chemical or the other on their
mattresses and spread them in
the sun. Despite all this, bedbugs still holds way.
I'm tired of these bites, please. A room mate
unconsciously took a colony of bugs home and his
family was in great shock. Helping my friends pick
bugs on their clothes, even in classes. If I may
confess, this is just the only reason I don't sleep
in the hostel often. I can't inform my parents, so I can rent a house because it might sound absurd
in their ears. This is embarrassing! If they don't
know, “Bed bugs are
parasitic insects of the cimicid family that feed
exclusively on
blood, especially human blood". A number of
adverse health
effects may result from bed bug bites, including
skin rashes,
psychological effects, and allergic symptoms. If a
solution is not found within few months, we'll
now have the same news as UNILAG having bed
bugs in their classes. University of Uyo
must declare a state of emergency on this bed
bug menace, and put a permanent end to their
proliferation. Even if the students are to vacate
the hostels for one week, or even more, for
effective fumigation, it will worth the sacrifice. I
woke up this morning, 1:52am, covered in bites.
My sleepless starts now, as usual. This is very bad
because my roommates also have sleepless
nights. Except some guys who have a bug proof
body skin.
