From my experience they're the most corrupt government agency in Nigeria. In Tin can and apapa wharf an average middle level officer takes home about about N300k everyday after kicking up to the Ogas at the top. If you want to as they call it 'valuation' you pay bribe, at the log room you pay bribe, to drop your container you pay bribe, examination of the container you bribe, you paperwork from one office to another to sign you bribe, then the big boys will get you in the release room where they hold your balls and ask for bribe at their discretion according to what the stupid officer feels about what the container is worth and how much profit he comes up in his head that you will make on your consignment. They always start high as 500k and you start to negotiate with them. At the gate you to get out you bribe, and if you are unlucky as the container gets out the enforcement team will bounce on you and you pay more bribe or else they impound it and take it ikeja, where they will feast on you all over again. Plz don't pity does guys, 99% of the middle up to the top officers are made financially.
