CareerRe: Fustrated With My Career What Should I Do by vibzy: 9:55pm On Nov 12, 2016
somebody1234:
I have a bsc in computer Engineering and a masters in information techology with distinction and have CCNA and Itil certification finished school when i was 20 years early and worked for telecoms company.

I joined my company 4 years ago hoping to be a technical support specialist, this was my job position in my previous company, but along the line i was told i will be a junior project manager.

I was first drafted to a Junior project manger role, this made me acquire the PMP and prince2 certification.
Before long the project administrator was fired and i began to do admin stuff. Although I shadow my technical colleagues do work and even relieve them when on leave on technical matters.
t is not like when this is your main work. My colleagues dont even want me to know much because they want to be relevant and in charge.

It is really affecting me and becoming a growing concern. It just so fustrating, although i give my best to the admin job and no one even knows I am frustrated. friends and colleagues think all is fine

I dont see myself acquiring skills that can put food on the table, what i basically do is draft letters, reports, print, photocopy, create invoice, manage the office sharepoint and purchase office supplies.
which to be honest do not require specialised skills. I am just worried, i dont see any special skills been added to me. it is like am not growing and learning anything for the past 4 years, other than the pmp and prince2 certification i acquired
i dont see any additional benefit.

The funny part is the pay is not so bad i go home with 387k every month exluding benefits and bonuses.

As a man i always believe one should always learn a skill in event of a job loss he would be able to establish himself from that skill. This admin is not a man job, plus you find yourself being distracted and doing
stuff for others instead of yourself.

I have tried to apply for various jobs in other places even for lower pay, but they have not been invited me for any interviews. Even applied for PM jobs, no calls. And IT is something you need to move with
else you become rusty as technology changes daily.

Am getting married soon and think career is something i need to address before settling down.

I am very grateful to God, I have a job, but for how long will i be like this, no growth prospect, just leaving and resuming i feel very empty.

Am not lazy, i have a vision for my life and i work with towards my goals.

Can someone in the house give me some tips as am getting frustrated. I am even thinking of starting a business, but the truth is that is suppose to be a side hustle.

I currently work in Lagos.
my advise is very simple, start your own company in your field of expertise ... that's solves the issue if being Rusty while you continue your day job as the solve the issue of daily bread

The Ineffectual Buffoon is seriously pained that his fellow thieves are being held to account for their deeds.

Jona, not only that you were not fit to be president, you were a disaster, a complete one.

If you were fit to be president, the man who vowed to make Nigeria ungovernable for you should have been picked up and seriously drilled by DSS, especially with the spate of bombings that followed that promise.

If you were competent to be president, those who fooled you to approve just anything and everything in return for their support would not have been able to do that.

What a waste of presidency!

With all this looting and many more revealed some people are still shouting no sign of change yet, they even say it's political persecution.

But I believe, it is the right thing to do.
If you believe too, send this to other people to garner more support for the fight against corruption and looting in our nation. There must be consequence for crime otherwise Nigeria will not develop.

Jonathan should please shut up and stop blabbing. EFCC never said Dasuki alone stole $2.2billion. The money was stolen by Jonathan, Dasuki, Mama piss and other political and military cronies too numerous to mention that the money was shared with. This is a very weak and unintelligent attempt at defending Dasuki.

BusinessHow The Dozie Brothers Café Neo, Nigeria Are Turning Lagos Into Coffee Capital by vibzy(op): 1:02pm On Oct 11, 2016
Since founding Café Neo in 2012, brothers Ngozi and Chijoke Dozie have invested $400,000 and launched the chain in several African countries, with over 10 in Nigeria alone.

Explaining how the chain originated, Ngozi Dozie tells ‘African Start-Up’: “The word ‘neo’ means ‘gift’ in Tswana and it also ‘new’ in Latin.

For us we view coffee as a gift to the continent. We felt that through Café Neo we could have the best
African coffees produced by Africans, drunk in Africa.”

‘African Start-Up’ learns how the brothers returned to Nigeria hoping to fill a void in the countries coffee-loving expat community. Among the infrastructural challenges faced by the Dozie brothers, the lack of consumption of coffee in Nigeria appeared daunting at first.

Chijoke explains to the ‘African Start-Up’ how Café Nero overcame difficulties by creating an alternative coffee shop:

“We were always sceptical that Nigerians wouldn’t take to coffee… what we tried to replicate was that third space. It wasn’t just ‘come and drink coffee’. It’s ‘come and hang out’, free Wi-Fi, meet people, jazz music playing in the background.”

Inspired by European coffeehouses, the Dozie brothers created a space for entrepreneurs, as Ngozi explains to ‘African Start-Up’:

“I think it’s through the fact that we are providing a platform for entrepreneurs to grow. It’s also through the events that we are hosting and partnerships, where we can plug in entrepreneurs… For most start-ups, when you start, there isn’t really any space for you. If you try and work from home, there’s probably is no power. If you try to go to the hotel, it’s not conducive, but Neo is a space where you come and meet people. We try and create space that’s conducive to that kind of chance//serendipitous meeting.”

With a cup of coffee ranging from 50 cents to $3 a cup, Café Neo has become popular to a diverse pool of coffee drinkers, and the Dozie brothers hope to continue their growth in Africa.

Ngozi tells ‘African Start-Up’:

“There’s definitely a coffee renaissance taking place in Africa, and we think that we are at the forefront, but we also want others to join us in spreading the word… I can’t think of a better place for an entrepreneur right now than in Nigeria. It’s a fantastic opportunity – but don’t tell anyone… let’s enjoy the opportunity first!”

TravelArik Airline Shuts Down Operations by vibzy(op): 4:59pm On Sep 13, 2016
hundreds of air travellers booked on Nigerian Arik airline are currently stranded across the country, following the inability of the airline to airlift them to their destinations.
Since early morning today, none of the airline’s aircraft has been operated to any destinations in Nigeria, West Africa and other routes.
SaharaReporters learnt that the massive debts of the airline to major oil marketers who regularly supply aviation fuel is partially responsible for the current situation of the airline. A source told our reporters that in addition to the airline's inability to buy for fuel, its insurers in Europe and elsewhere had withdrawn insurance cover from the airline forcing the airline to stop flight operations altogether.
A source close to the oil marketers told our correspondent that the airline is a bad debtor as it currently owes at least N3 billion to all its suppliers, a situation, which has made them not to supply Jet A1 to the airline.
The sordid situation may also affect the airline’s long-haul operations to Heathrow Airport in London and New York in the United States of America.
Some of the early morning flights of Arik Air include Lagos-Abuja at 6:45 am and 7:30, Abuja-Lagos at 8:00 and 9:00. Others are Benin, Port Harcourt, Asaba, and Kano.
A passenger with the airline, Chris Amokwu told our correspondent that he had been at the airport as early as 7:00 for a 7:30 am flight to Abuja, but as at 1 pm, he was yet to know if he would eventually make the trip to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to him, the airline attributed its inability to operate to the scarcity of Jet A1 and poor weather condition.
But, SaharaReporters can confirm that Jet A1 is available in the local scene as airlines like Med-View, Air Peace and Landover Airways have been operating since morning despite the alleged scarcity of aviation fuel and poor weather by the airline.
When our correspondent contacted the spokesman of the airline, Ola Adebanji, he said he was not aware of the development as he was still bereaved, having lost his mother over the weekend.
Arik Air is the third airline to shut down flight operations in Nigeria in the last three weeks following the suspension of flight by Aero Contractors and First Nation.
