A Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out a case filed by the Action Peoples Party (APP) seeking to nullify the candidature of Bola Tinubu as 2023 presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bayo Onanuga, Director of Media and Publicity, APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) said this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said that the suit FHC/UM/CS/124/2022 was filed by the APP and others against the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) as the first defendant.

President Muhammadu Buhari has named Lauretta Onochie as the substantive chairman of the Niger Delta Development Board (NDDC).

The appointments were contained in a letter to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, who read it out at the start of plenary on Wednesday.

Ms Onochie, currently a special assistant to the president on new media, was enmeshed in a controversial appointment into the electoral umpire, INEC, in 2020. She was appointed by Mr Buhari as an INEC commissioner to represent Delta State.

The appointment generated public outcry from individuals, civic groups and opposition parties who wrote petitions, staged protests and called on the Senate to reject Ms Onochie’s appointment.

Many also described the appointment as unconstitutional – majorly because she is partisan and has openly campaigned for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The alleged Russian missile barrage in Ukraine on Tuesday entered Poland killing two people.

The AP reported that the missiles were fired into Ukraine’s power grid, making the country darker and knocking out power to much of Moldova.
Polish government spokesman Piotr Muller in a brief press conference confirmed that two people died as a result of the incident and that the Polish army will be on high alert.

He did not discuss the origin of the explosion, but said that Poland is “checking whether we need to activate NATO Article Four.”
