no harowosholah, the university of lagos will never assign and i repeat, never assign any course to you based on high marks. Once you have beaten the cut off mark for any department which you did not choose and is available in the change of course portal, then you are in for that course. If you are close to the cut off mark, then you will get your course. If you are close by a minimum of 5 marks to the lowest cathement area,or you beat the lowest cathement area, you stand a chance.

If what i heard from a senior lecturer of the department of Microbiology(names witheld) is anything to go by, then the heartbreaking news is that the supposed supplimentary list is actually for those who had connections and a lucky few. According to him, Unilag received a vast number of admission requests from politicians, professors, senior lecturers and influential people( explains why the cutoffs were still high despite the mass failure) and that the acting VC plans to attend to most of them so as to amass support for himself when the time for the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor comes. He added that the list has already been compiled and would be due for release in the first week of September.


Despite not making the list for Medicine, i still hold my head high. Had virtually no time for Preparation bt still beat d cutoffs for all courses except Medicine and Nursing

@Harbioollah; (1)pardon my asking but did you right the diploma exam?...
(2)your 'senior lecturer' in dept of microbiology is telling you the common gossip, or should i use an appropriate term 'rumors' that are flying round the school. Although that rumor has a point but the acting V.C will make no gain ridging the admission for selfish interest. The admission of prospective candidates is done by the Admission Unit, 3rd floor of the senate building. The acting V.c cannot favour the whimps and carpices of those politicians, professors, senior lecturers and influential people because he also has people competing with him for the titleship of the V.C. They will go to every extent to find faults and errors that the acting V.C has made to get an upper edge. To be on the saver side, the acting V.C is making sure that the admission process is taken with extreme care and precision, which accounts for the delay. The reason the cutoff was high has become clear to me. I got to know that there were actually people who made high scores, especially for medicine and surgery. Although, most people in the list did not meet up with the cutoff mark(for med and surg addmission list), but they poped out from the cathement area, and that is why u can even see a person with (oyo cathement area i suppose 68) in the admission list.
(3)there is a common misconception, people think that the cut off mark is based on the general performance, but NO. It is based on the number of candidates that the department is setted to carry, that is if medicine and surgery has a carrying capacity of 120, then they will pick up the 120 best, and the score of the least person in the list becomes the cut off. That applies to supplementary list.
(4) the addmision capacity tends to increase every year, last year, it was appoximately 158, this year, the merit list is 98, that gives room for 60 and above number of candidates, since admission capacity neva falls.
I hope God helps each and every one who is putting there hope in the supplementary list.
@sucess full diploma students; congrates, in about 2 to 3 weeks time, head on to where u submitted ur form for ur admision letter...keep watch, d admision list will soon b out. If u are at least 6 marks away from ur cutoff, u will b given admision in the supplementary list. By the way there were 14 supplementary list last year, not 12.
@tizzie; i am praying for u. I hope u will get admitted...but all the same if u have not checked ur score for the diploma, there is no harm checking.

tizzie, just check it, the cut off mark for met and math enginering is low, it is 81

last year, it was 100, this year, it may be lower....or even the viceversa.....anyway it depends on the performance of the individuals in ur department...

nooooo.....the supplementary list includes only post utme students who did not meet the cut off and those who have money bags or great grandfather's mother's uncle..lol....the foundation program is stricty for those who registered for the exam. It has it's own cutoff mark, merit list and supplementary list........dude don't be in such a hurry, last year, the supplementary list came out after two weeks of resumption of the foundation students. So dude!!! Slow and tardy man.....don't be i such a haste!!!

This is to all those who wrote the unilag foundation...the result for 2012/2013 is out...go and check yours now. Go to the unilag foundation portal in there website....best of luck

OMG....i am still perplexed....life is really hazy, i mean i have a friend who had 56.25, and he applied for pharmacy, his name is on the admission list!!!! But another who had 64 was not given admission Anyway to all prospective diploma students...the competition is going to be really really tight, you have to jack like u have neva done before...don't go around looking for diploma past questions, why not go to where they set there questions from...in case u do not know, 90% of diploma questions are from the jamb past questions.....diploma quetions are not that hard, just that there is something dat is called the 'calculation factor' you are going to solve math, eng, phy, chem, bio (the last three subjects may vary due to your subject combination) ...without using calculators....to those awaiting the supplementary list......i will advise that u make necessary enquires, i heard that you can change your locality to a disadvantage area, they do it internally .....if you beat any of the lowest cathement areas cutoff mark you stand a high chance of gaining admission to the supplementary list even if you are not from the cathement area, although you have to be smart...for those who the lowest cathement area cutoff mark beat with a minimum of 5 marks you.....still have a good chance but please take the diploma form....it may help.......to those who gained admission by hardwork, congrats and more grease to your elbow..........to those who gained addmission by luck or chance.....may God help you....to those who gained admission by hook or by crook......although u have made it, but think of those who did better than you, yet they were not given admission, think of the pain it costs them.......to those who are bent on changing there course, edu dept do not want the 'leftovers' to be pushed to them.....as for me, i am really studying for my exams, that is why i have not been so regular on nairaland.....but i don't think i really need to study as hard as i am doing, by the way, i had a 4.85 as my G.P.A.....but diploma things....you just have to read on... @tizzie; pls do not change your course if at all there is a change of course form...i am sure your name will come out in the 2nd list...i am praying for u........@everyone by the way what is Markonikoffs principle?? yeah she is right, it is actually impossible to change from a low course to a high course...i have a friend studying phamacology, he wanted medicine and surgery so badly, that he made a G.P.A of 4.98. He applied for a change of course and he was told that there was no space and all sloths have been filled for medicine and surgery....but changing from a higher course to a lower course is very possible....a mircobiology student applied for a change of course to biological sciences because she could not cope with some subjects....belive me she was given biological sciences that very day....about the cut off mark, According 2 d info unit..8th floor,senate buildin d cutoff hasn't bein released

u guys should nit critise him, he is just trying to help..at least contribute...guy i afraid dis cutoffmark may be real, i overheard an arguement btw the cutoff for medicine...76 carried a high vote, but some wanted the cutoff reduced to at least 68. Unilag do not want 2009/2010 incidence to occur again. My advice to those who have doubts is too go and buy the diploma form. But if u pray, the cut off may reduce to the range of 63-65. If medicine should be high, then what of other courses?......best of luck...

stop this rumor man, those cutoffmarks may not be released till tomorrow!!!

tizzie dear, there is nothing to panic about, with your score, i can bet that you will get that admission. I don't know of any med lab student who knows of the admission process in ur department, but i am very sure that u will gain that admission.....just wait for the cutoff mark.....am praying 4 every one.....including myself, although i have nothing to lose, am just a biochem student who wants to change my course to medicine and surgery thats all.

if all desrving aspirant gain admission, who will write utme again now? The amout of jambites will be so small that the jamb as a body will collapse. Someone said he was gonna give an update on the cutoff marks..........i am waiting for ur update, because from what i know, the 31 man panel are going to review the cut off marks today, and the acting VC is going to sign it either today or tomorrow. So don't get all stressed up. Who knows, they may be fast with there procedures and released it this afternoon. Just keep ur fingers crossed. For those who have not eaten, go and stuff ur belly with a lot of goodies, for those who are unsalabrious, go and visit your doctor. For those who are tensed, go and alleviate ur self with an aspirine. For those who have doubt, pray. But for those who have 30 to 47 percent as there score.......hummm please do not take this too personal but.....start reading for another jamb. Who knows, you may just find yourself on the first list of next years admission list......but don't give uppppppp.

i hope u did not get this information from peoples comments on the web, because on .com, someone claimed she scored 8O for medicine... Anyway, were did you get your information from, and how many people do u know have 70 above?

U said Unilag doesnt want 2 Degrade its Standard and therefore fixed a high cutoff. So what u r saying is if only 20people scored 68 and above, only dose 20pple will be admitted all because of Standard.
D cutoff will be determined by the Pass mark of Students and d carrying capacity of the Dept.

heys guys i have a bit of information that i think you may like to read;

the cutoff mark have not been setted yet, although the various heads of department have have submitted there various cutoff mark. I got this from the HOD of biochem in unilag. I am a diplomag student of unilag. He said he is not too sure of the cutoff mark but that of medicine and surgery is nothing lesser than or greater than six plus 62. Although a seniour lecturer proposed 63, but unilag do not want to degrade in its standard. That is why they postponed the exam date for the diploma, SO THAT THOSE WHO DO NOT PASS THE CUTOFF MARK OR SHOULD I SAY THE
OUTRAGEOUS CUTOFF MARK CAN WRITE THE DIPLOMA EXAM. THE LAST WORD HE SAID; DO NOT BE SURPRISED IF THE CUT OFF MARK FOR MEDICINE IS 74

i am not a full time adams student, the reason is because i am both a diploma student studying biochem in unilag and an asparant hoping to study medicine in unilag, so i had to go to adams college to take lectures during my spare time
