Romance / Re: Why Is No One Talking About The Banks Forcing Us To Get Dollar Cards by VictorBennie(m): 12:58pm On Jan 13, 2023
TheOldGods:
I tried to renew one of my courses yesterday through GT Bank. The dollar amount is 14$ which is about 7000 naira. However, I noticed my card was declined after so many attempts I called GTb and I was shocked that they disabled international transactions. People like me that have a website that the payment is as small as 20$ for renewals, I freelance on Upwork and we have to buy connect which are very small like 3$ per connect how on earth do I need a dollar debit card while I live and spend naira? The crazy part is most bureau the change will not sell below 50$ for you, plus the insane charges from the dollar cards. I was charged 4,189 naira for dollar card maintenance from Gtb bank that I had to run immediately to disable the card. This is a card I only spent from twice. Imagine if I kept using this card consistently how much more charges would I have been charged. The funny part is this charges are very high.
You wont be able to pay for online courses or even shop from Amazon, AliExpress or other international shops unless you own a dollar card, which requires a current account. Plus the insane charges that comes from this cards.

Why is Nigeria getting so difficult to live in. If we don't stand up and stop this crazy bank implementations now, it will be difficult when all other banks starts theirs.

How has the blockage of international transactions affected you as a Nigerian?

What other alternative can we use please.

Mods please front page
