North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un reportedly brought with him his own private portable toilet to Singapore for the summit with U.S. president Donald Trump.


South Korean news agency The Chosunilbo reported that when Kim arrived in Singapore on an Air China Boeing 747, he was accompanied by an IL-76 transport plane carrying food, “his bullet-proof limousine and a portable toilet.”


Accordingly to Lee Yun-keol, who worked in a North Korean Guard Command unit before defecting to South Korea in 2005, "rather than using a public restroom, the leader of North Korea has a personal toilet that follows him around when he travels,” Lee Yun-keol told the Washington Post.


“The leader’s excretions contain information about his health status so they can’t be left behind,” Lee Yun-keol explained.


According to the South Korean news agency Daily NK, there is a customised bathroom built into Kim’s convoy of vehicles at all times.

A new investigative report has uncovered the details of the money allocated to the Aso Rock, Nigeria’s seat of power, in the 2018 national budget.

According to the report the Aso Rock will be getting at least N11.5 billion and of that amount, N45.68 million was budgeted for power plants and generator fuel. N45.54 million was budgeted for the same item in the 2017 budget, N140,000 lesser than that of this year.

Also, a total of N1 billion was budgeted for the Aso Rock Medical Centre, while it got N331.7 million during the 2017 fiscal year, thus an extra allocation of N668.2 million.

This is different from the N36.8 million meant for “drugs and medical supplies” for the state house – and yes, the N1 billion covers a sum of N208.3 million meant for the same purpose.

There is also a separate N51.8 million budgeted as “medical expenses” for the seat of power, and another N15.8 million allocated for “digital medical references”.

Last year, it was reported that the state house clinic – not used by the president who seeks medical attention abroad – did not have the commonest of medications, paracetamol, syringe, cotton wool etc.

The sum of N907.1 million was budgeted for the purchase of new vehicles for Aso Rock while N165 million would be used for the maintenance of existing ones. In 2017, N100.8 million was used for purchase of new vehicles while N188 million was budgeted for maintenance of available ones.

A total of N28 million was budgeted for the state house ranch as well as for “wildlife conservation capture”, while the garden, “routine floral arrangement” and upgrade of helipad grassfield got N24 million.

An Abuja chief magistrate’s court in Wuse has granted medical leave to Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi) to travel to the United States for an appointment with his doctor.

Melaye was arraigned before the court on May 2d on charges bordering on his alleged escape from a police vehicle in Abuja on April 24th. At the resumed hearing yesterday June 6th, his counsel, John Odubela (SAN) asked the court to order the Commissioner of Police, FCT command to release Melaye’s international passport to enable him travel for medical treatment abroad which had previously been scheduled before his faceoff with the police.

The Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, has discharged and acquitted a former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Patrick Akpobolokemi, who was charged with an alleged fraud of N2.6bn.

In a lead judgment on Friday by Justice Yargatta Nimpar, a three-man appellate court panel upheld the no-case submission filed by Akpolokemi in response to the criminal charges.

The Appeal Court overruled the decision of Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court in Lagos, who, on October 16, 2017, dismissed Akpobolokemi’s no-case submission.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had, on December 4, 2015, arraigned Akpobolokemi alongside five others for allegedly diverting N2.6bn from the coffers of NIMASA between December 2013 and May 2015.

The funds, the anti-graft agency claimed, were approved by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan for the implementation of a security project tagged, “International Ship and Ports Security Code in Nigerian Ports.”

Those charged alongside Akpobolokemi were Ezekiel Agaba, Ekene Nwakuche, Governor Juan, Blockz and Stonz Limited and Al-Kenzo Logistics Limited.

The six defendants had all pleaded not guilty to the 22 charges pressed against them, following which the EFCC opened its case, calling 12 witnesses and tendering 77 exhibits in a bid to prove the allegation.

Upon the closure of the EFCC’s case in 2017, all the defendants had filed no-case submissions, contending that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against them.

But Justice Buba, in an October 16, 2017 ruling, dismissed their no-case submissions, holding that they had a case to answer.

Justice Buba had held that, “From the evidence of the first prosecution witness, it is well established that all the defendants have case to answer; the exhibits tendered and the testimonies of other witnesses have established that there is a prima facie case against the defendants.”

Displeased, however, they all went on appeal and in a judgment on Friday, June 1, 2018, the Court of Appeal discharged and acquitted Akpobolokemi of the entire 22 counts.

However, the five other defendants were not discharged, as the appellate court upheld Justice Buba’s verdict that they had a case to answer.‎

The Nigerian naira is on the verge to recover as it has appreciated against the dollar and other currencies.





The Nigerian currency gained one point to exchange at N362, stronger than N363 posted on Wednesday, while the Pound Sterling and the Euro traded at N494 and N424, respectively.



Trading at the Bureau De Change window saw the naira close at N362, while the Pound Sterling and the Euro were sold at N494 and N424, respectively.



At the investors’ window, the naira closed at N360.97, while it closed at the official CBN window at N305.95.
