America has no choice but to import because most of their refineries are built to process heavy crude efficiently meanwhile their own crude is light, which is why they mostly export their own crude and import heavy crude oil from Canada for their own refineries... And again America has multiple refineries while Nigeria didn't have any functional refineries till Dangote stepped in.
And it seems you are getting all this mixed up so
For even more specificity America doesn't rely 100% on imported PMS and other already refined oil products.
What you are championing here is that we keep importing refined crude which is not going to give anyone the incentive to invest and built any refinery in Nigeria.
Look at it like rice paradox... As an investor why would I bother getting a rice farm and mill and going through all the cost of production in Nigeria that will take more than a year when I can easily import rice from Thailand and get huge profit with 6 months

One of the buyers tell you to quarrel with the other buyer and sell to just him alone.
Would you do it ?

Do you realize if you sell to just one person , you are at his mercy !!!
If he tell you he can only pay 2000 naira....your choices are limited, because you chased away the other buyer.
If he decides to pay in installment.....you have to accept it.
If he skips payment.....you have to accept it.

5. Political and international scrutiny
• International lenders, investors, and trading partners monitor allocations; any perceived favoritism could jeopardize loans, investment guarantees, and Nigeria’s credit rating.

Dangote Refinery remains a private entity,in as much as it serves Nigerians. Nigeria can decide to sell its feedstock crude oil to Dangote or not. Its national decision.
NMDPRA should treat Dangote refinery,like any other buyer. Dangote too should sell petrol at open fair market prices. If the governement approaches him for lower prices,he should then negotiate crude sales with them.
Also crude oil is Nigeria's main revenue generator for the whole 250 million Nigerians. So its a matter of national security to sell all to one private entity. Thats not a good national security option if you ask me.

Long story short you want us maintain status quo right

Price war and competition will definitely bring prices down.


But from what I'm seeing many players in the oil sector will fight tooth and nail to maintain status quo
