I picked this domain from E.D. about 9 months ago. The negotiation went back and forth for almost two weeks. When it became clear the end user had genuine interest but was constrained by budget, I decided to make a compromise that worked for both sides.

What made this sale especially rewarding was that it felt like I was offering a genuine solution rather than just selling a domain.

Molowo is a Yoruba word because you know it is. I mean because you're a Nigerian.

It may mean something else to someone else.
It's a CVCVCV name.

Something that means "tongue' in my language is 'goodness' in Yoruba.

I switched the lander to Spaceship last month along with many others and increased the original Afternic price from 599 to cover the higher fee.

This domain was taken in 3 or so other extensions. But I didn't quite like the plural form and I have never managed to sell a domain with the "shop" keyword - even those I consider to have better potential.

I already had plans to renew and increase the price at renewal all the same despite not being bullish about it - especially after I noticed a double-hyphen version will searching for leads two Fridays ago.

I wanted to outbound the name last week, but I got the email address of only one of the strongest leads. Na so I abandoned the mission as I never sell a single of the domains (even better ones) I don outbound since January till today. It sold Friday.

All thanks to God and more, better sales for everyone of us.

Do not make complaint on Twitter to Grey App or any other Fintech App. Scammers are cloning their handles to scam customer's money.

Yesterday was the saddest day of my life. A scammer defrauded me of $2,697 by sending me link through DM as if it's Grey App to resolve my Grey card issue not accepting payments on domain registrars to buy domains for some time now.

I foolishly entered my log in details into the link that mirror Grey App perfectly and he had access to my Grey App, stole $2,697 by converting it to USDC on Grey and move it out before Grey was able to block my account after I emailed them ASAP.

It's when I saw the debit alerts I noticed I had just been scammed.

Please be very careful both on Twitter and nairaland.

If Grey cards had been working to buy domains recently, I wouldn't have been in this situation. I wouldn't have tagged them on Twitter to complaint and a scammer wouldn't have disguise as Grey to DM me.

Man this is a lot.

I didn't pay for Boss Iyke's training because as at that time I couldn't afford it but I took my time to read this thread to the last page (1500 pages) as at 2021.

This is because in as much as he had paid mentorship, he didn't forget to drop enough info on this thread for some of us that didn't have money as at then.

I'd say the inspiration was probably gpexchange - who, by the way, was also a major inspiration for hiking some prices towards the end of last year. I had my first sales higher than $1,888 after that hike.

One of gpexchange's sales reported here was Get///Calico (or something like that). I found out from my readings that companies sometimes turn to alternatives like that if they can't get the main keyword - Calico, in this case. Some companies who even have the main keyword may also want variations of it.

I also found out that "use" and "go" were among words that were sometimes used, apart from "get."

I'd have priced the domain much higher but for the low-value comparable sales in Afternic records and the fact that the .co was forwarded to a coffee business. Plus, the domain was registered the previous year and dropped.

The buyer came with a $250 offer and back-and-forth counters brought it to the final price, making sure I split the fee with them. It occurred to me to check the number of taken TLDs AFTER the buyer accepted my final counter-offer. I was surprised to find it had gone from 2 to 6!

Later, two Afternic brokers reached out to me separately regarding enquiries because I had removed the BIN price there while the negotiation was ongoing on Spaceship. Found out offers were first made there about eight minutes before I got the Spaceship offer, but I was only informed about four and half hours later.

I was so bullish about this domain that I priced it for $2,688 in the first year - the highest for any of the more than 400 XYZ domains I registered between 2021 and 2022.

By 2024, I reduced the price first to $1488 then $988. I increased it to $1,250 last year. It was after I decided to renew a dozen of the remaining XYZ domains till 2027 and release the rest than I increased the price to $1,888.
