Portland, Oregon The first new crossing over Portland's Willamette River since 1973, 1,700-foot Tilikum Crossing opened in September 2015. The structure is remarkable not only for the slender design, with 110.5-foot towers that flow down to the five spans, but also because of what you won't find on the bridge: cars. It's not easy to build a big infrastructure project in America, much less one that turns away drivers. But only light rail, streetcar, buses, pedestrians, and cyclists are welcome here. |
