Politics / 2015: Oba Of Lagos Denies Endorsing Buhari by Visman(m): 1:53am On Feb 20, 2015
Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu
1st of Lagos, also known as the Eleko of Eko
said he has not endorsed any presidential
candidate ahead of the elections scheduled for
March 28.
Akiolu, who was reacting to speculations that
he has endorsed Muhammadu Buhari, the
candidate of the All Progressives Congress
(APC), described the reports as false.
The monarch stated this on Thursday, during
an interview at the Naval Dockyard, Victoria
Island, Lagos, while attending the
commissioning of four Nigerian Navy ships by
President Goodluck Jonathan, The Nation
reports.
“Who gave you that rumour? Who said so?
Some of the things they are writing, like that
former Minister Obanikoro, I went to his aged
mother that they should warn him seriously.
For the presidency, I support the best person.

“If I want to do something I do not pretend,
God almighty Allah will give the presidency to
the people Nigerians want to do the best for
this country,” he said.
Akiolu however said he was supporting the
APC governorship candidate in Lagos,
Akinwumi Ambode.
He said: “I have my reason for saying it and I
do not hide it. I acted on God’s wisdom and
picked Akinwunmi Ambode and by the grace of
God, he will be the governor of this state .”

Speaking on the postponement of the general
elections, the monarch stated that reason
given by the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) was acceptable.
He expressed optimism that the elections will
hold come March 28 and April 11.
About two weeks back, Akiolu had said
Jonathan should not be blamed for the many
problems of Nigeria as they were already there
before he came into power.

I am from the south-south but have lived in d north for 18yrs,in dis part of d country these kind of things are common and are not hidden, and once a presidential candidate emerged from the north with his opponent from the south, even the so called opposition party faithful will root for their northern brother, and u expect me to vote a northerner as President.

Thanks for the brief history of Lagos, but I don't think changing the name 'Lagos' back to it former 'eko' is really that necessary, beside it's still bein referred to as eko-ile.
it will only make it look original naija

Lagos State is an administrative division of
Nigeria , located in the southwestern part of the
country. The smallest in area of Nigeria's
states, [4] Lagos State is arguably the most
economically important state of the country, [5]
containing Lagos, the nation's largest urban
area . The actual population total is disputed
between the official Nigerian Census of 2006,
and a much higher figure claimed by the Lagos
State Government. Lagos State is located in
the south-western part of the Nigerian
Federation. On the North and East it is
bounded by Ogun State . In the West it shares
boundaries with the Republic of Benin . Behind
its southern borders lies the Atlantic Ocean .
22% of its 3,577 km2 are lagoons and creeks.
History
Early History
Before the Portuguese name of Lagos had been
adopted, Lagos' initial name was Eko which
referred mainly to the island. The first to settle
in Eko were the Aworis. The Awori hunters and
fishermen had originally come from Ife-Ife to
the coast. [4] The name Eko comes either from
the Yoruba "Oko" (cassava farm) or "Eko" (war
camp). Over 650 years ago, the Oba of Bini
sent warriors to Eko who were received in a
welcoming manner by the residing Awori
fishermen. The Bini Prince, Ado, who led the
war party, was asked to become their leader.
From that point on, Eko belonged to the
kingdom of the Oba of Bini. [6]
Postcolonial Era
Lagos State was created on May 27, 1967 by
virtue of State (Creation and Transitional
Provisions) Decree No. 14 of 1967, which
restructured Nigeria’s Federation into 12
states . Prior to this, Lagos Municipality had
been administered by the Federal Government
through the Federal Ministry of Lagos Affairs
as the regional authority, while the Lagos City
Council (LCC) governed the City of Lagos.
Equally, the metropolitan areas (Colony
Province) of Ikeja , Agege, Mushin , Ikorodu, Epe
and Badagry were administered by the Western
Region . The State took off as an
administrative entity on April 11, 1968 with
Lagos Island serving the dual role of being the
State and Federal Capital. However, with the
creation of the Federal Capital Territory of
Abuja in 1976, Lagos Island ceased to be the
capital of the State which was moved to Ikeja.
Equally, with the formal relocation of the seat
of the Federal Government to Abuja on 12
December 1991, Lagos Island ceased to be
Nigeria’s political capital. Nevertheless, Lagos
remains the center of commerce for the
country.

The problem is that you dunderheads in the PDP fail to learn. The same nonsense you are saying made Abati and Jonathan prostrate to Buhari a couple of years ago.

When they sue your broke azz now, you would be saying they are stopping your freedom of expression, whereas they are only trying to stop you from advertising your stvpidity.

kelvin1191: Yes its possible. Its just like going into university through DE (direct entry) with ur HND (Most schl require upper -destintion while few will accept lower) u will be admitted into 300 level where u spend 2yrs=4semester to bag ur Bsc. But since salem na priv8, they may accept without jamb DE. Remember, salem is very xpensive o.
thanks brother

is there anybody in lokoja who knows Salem university that can confirm this?
Education / Conversion Of HND To Bsc by Visman(m): 10:46am On Sep 07, 2014
i am an HND holder and presently working as a teller in one of the commercial banks, brothers, what i am facing as a teller is not what i would wish my enemy, discrimination of the highest order,as an hnd holder, you are pegged on the same salary as ond holder, and you have no choice but to feel inferior to your Bsc graduate colleagues whose monthly salary is 5times what you earn, and who has a career path.Recently,a friend of mine told me about a university;Salem university lokoja to be precise where hnd can be converted to bsc,a 2yrs programme of 6semeters,please brothers if this is true,i will be very much interested and if there are any other university where hnd can b converted to bsc kindly intimate me and how the programme is being run, thank you..
