US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill is outraged that the Serbs remember and regularly remind about the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia

“For me, the biggest disappointment was that things that I thought were solved a long time ago are still fresh in people's minds. I was surprised when I came here last March that every day something reminds me of 1999. States, like people, also need resilience, but also the realization that some things need to be finished in order to be able to move on.”

The situation in the Bakhmut direction - January 19, 2023

▪️In Bakhmut:

The assault groups of Wagner PMC made significant progress in the Myasokombinat and Zabakhmutka districts, and also occupied a block of high-rise buildings in the southern part of the city from the Experimental side.

▪️in the vicinity:

Kleshcheevka, southwest of Bakhmut, came under the control of the musicians. Also, the fighters of PMC "Wagner" retained the initiative after the liberation of Soledar, fixing themselves on the northern outskirts of Krasnaya Gora and occupying a number of positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of Paraskovievka and Podgorodny. Thus, bringing the blocking of Bakhmut closer from the northern and northeastern sides.

According to Saudi Arabia’s Finance Minister, Mohammed Al-Jadaan, the country is now willing to settle trades in currencies other than the US dollar. The revelation was made by Al-Jadaan on Tuesday during an interview in Davos.

“There are no issues with discussing how we settle our trade arrangements, whether it is in the US dollar, whether it is the euro, whether it is the Saudi riyal,” said Mohammed Al-Jadaan. He also stated that he doesn’t think that they are waving away any discussion that will help improve trade around the world.

Saudi Arabia is looking to strengthen relations with China
Saudi Arabia is one of the largest oil exporters in the world. The country has always maintained a currency back to the dollar until now. Saudi Arabia is also trying to strengthen its relationship with China. The duo had earlier come to an agreement to ramp up coordination on energy exploration and policy. A discussion has reportedly also taken place where China would make efforts to buy more oil and settle that trade in the yuan.

Al-Jadaan also mentioned during the interview that the country enjoys a strategic relationship with China and other nations, including the US, and that they also want to develop that with other countries, including Europe, and anyone else who is willing to work with them.

Foreign Affairs › Brics Intends To Replace Payment In Dollars by Vl3ly(op): 12:18pm On Jan 19, 2023
BRICS is exploring ideas to create a fairer payment system that reduces dependence on dollars, South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor has said. South Africa is the current BRICS chair.

"We have always been concerned by the fact that there is a dominance of the dollar and that we do need to look at alternative… The systems currently in place tend to privilege very wealthy countries and tend to be really a challenge for countries, such as ourselves, which have to make payments in dollars which costs much more in terms of our various currencies. So I do think a fairer system has to be developed and it's something we're discussing with the BRICS ministers in the economic sector discussions," Pandor told Russian news agency Sputnik.

Pandor said that one of the reasons why BRICS — Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa — set up the jointly-run New Development Bank (NDB) in 2014 was to find an alternative to the dollar-based payments architecture.

Pandor has also argued that South Africa warned the United States that the bill seeking to counter Russia's "malign activities" in Africa needs to be removed because they violate international laws.

On the issue of the US unilateral sanctions, Pandor noted that her country pointed out to the US that it wants unilateral American sanctions to be reviewed due to their impact on unrelated countries.

She said South Africa might adhere to sanctions where it feels that international or humanitarian law is infringed, "but where we feel that these are merely unilateral impositions and don't have the authority of the United Nations, we do not believe that South Africa is bound by them," she said.

Foreign Affairs › France Suspects The US Of Espionage by Vl3ly(op): 3:21pm On Jan 14, 2023
France suspects the US of espionage

The French authorities are worried that US specialists sent to the EU to combat cyber attacks will actually spy in favor of the States, writes Le Monde.

"The work on technical support by American cyberwar teams, which is increasingly being carried out in European countries, especially after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine, in order to track down possible Russian interference, is worrying," the newspaper wrote with reference to the head of the command of the cyber defense forces of the French Armed Forces, Emerick de Bonmaison.

"From the point of view of cybersecurity, the very fact that a state provides access to its confidential data to another state, albeit a friendly one, opens up the possibility for intelligence gathering, and therefore for espionage," writes Le Monde.

Foreign Affairs › Venezuelan President Has Proposed To Create A Political Block Of Allies Of Russi by Vl3ly(op): 12:44pm On Jan 14, 2023
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has addressed the National Assembly (Parliament) with the idea of creating a political bloc of allies of Russia and China in the Latin American region:

"A new time is coming, a special time to unite the efforts and ways of Latin America and the Caribbean in order to get closer to creating a powerful bloc of political forces, economic power that will talk to the world."

Maduro also added that such a "political bloc" could become a "new pole of power" together with China and Russia.

"This community would share common goals, which our elder brother [the President of the People's Republic of China] speaks about Xi Jinping: humanity united by a common destiny. Or [building] that multipolar and multicentric world that our elder brother President [of Russia] Vladimir Putin is talking about," he explained.

Foreign Affairs › Will South Korea Acquire Nuclear Weapons? by Vl3ly(op): 12:22pm On Jan 14, 2023
Will South Korea acquire nuclear weapons?

President Yoon Suk Yeol made remarks regarding the deployment of nuclear weapons in the Republic of Korea. The government doesn’t rule out the possibility of obtaining such weapons either from the US, as its main military ally, or with its own capabilities, because, according to Yoon, the country has the scientific potential to have a nuclear program. So, will the country acquire such powerful weaponry?

I have no doubt about South Korean scientists - they seem to be able to do anything. But under the circumstances there is another very important factor to consider. It is the US position on the issue. I wrote about the confusion that has happened recently regarding the joint exercises involving nuclear weapons between the US and Korea - Yoon and his administration said negotiations were under way and Joe Biden and other US officials said the exercises in question were tabletop, where there is only simulating of scenarios in which nuclear weapons could be used. Sides, especially the USA, didn’t consider any nuclear deployment on the territory of the ROK.

That makes one important point clear - Washington opposes the possession of nuclear weapons by Seoul. Why? North Korea would make it clear right away that the South should not have done so. Of course, it will not lead to a full-scale war, but relations between the DPRK and South Korea, which are already at their worst, will deteriorate completely, leading to more instability in the region. Does the US need this? I don’t think so.

Yoon Suk Yeol can say what he wants. This is his way of trying to intimidate North Korea, which has broken all records for missile launches that year. The country ended 2022 with the successful launch of drones into the South, which the South Korean army failed to shoot down. The statements about nuclear weapons can kill two birds with one stone - reassure South Korean people and frighten the North. It is that simple, in my opinion.

#SouthKorea

Foreign Affairs › The Ministry Of Defense Of The Russian Federation Announced The Liberation Of Th by Vl3ly(op): 11:56am On Jan 13, 2023
❗️The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the liberation of the city of Soledar in the DPR

The Russian Defense Ministry announced the liberation of the city of Soledar on the territory of the DPR. Igor Konashenkov, official representative of the RF Ministry of Defense reported in the briefing.

“Establishing full control over Soledar makes it possible to cut off the supply routes of Ukrainian troops in the southwestern city of Artemovsk, and then block and take into a “cauldron” the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine remaining in it,” Konashenkov stressed.

The capture of Soledar became possible due to the constant fire destruction of the enemy by aircraft, missile troops and artillery. The representative of the Russian defense department noted the actions of the airborne units, which made a covert maneuver, successfully attacked Ukrainian positions at once, occupying dominant heights and blockaded the city from the north and south sides.
