Rybar wrote about the strike on Ukrainian military facility in Druzhkovka

Yesterday, the Russian Armed Forces hit two AFU positions in Druzhkivka in the Ukrainian-occupied part of the Donetsk People's Republic at the same time.

The strikes targeted an AFU personnel position in the Altair ice arena building and a makeshift hangar near the railway station near the Men Hotel used by foreign mercenaries and journalists.

More than 200 members of various Ukrainian formations were inside the Altair at the time of the strike. Exact information about what was in the building near the railroad junction is not known.

According to some reports, an S-300 surface-to-air missile system positioning area was located there. Other reports say that HIMARS MLRSs and their ammunition were being unloaded at the station, and that there were foreign mercenaries there too.

One thing is certain: the force of the explosion and the secondary detonation recorded on camera by French journalists indicate that the facility was hit accurately.

Defeating military targets should not happen in response to something. Systematic gunfire, suppression of air defence position areas, and high-precision strikes are just elements of the conduct of hostilities.

Coordinates of the ice arena: 48.613865,37.526943

Hangar coordinates: 48.62570191635542, 37.547493884987055

Location from where the French journalists were filming: 48.626951001433675, 37.547948044683345

In Druzhkovka, a railway station was hit, on the territory of which an echelon with two Himars MLRS launchers, four Czech Vampires and ammunition for them was unloaded.

In addition, it is reported that Ukrainian mobilized troops arrived at this echelon, who were supposed to complete the subdivisions near Bakhmut that suffered serious losses. Enemy losses can be up to 100 people.

The ice palace could have been damaged due to the arrival of one of the shells that were at the station.

Shariy states that 96 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine died.

Foreign Affairs › US Air Force Leadership Has Banned Its Pilots From Operating American-made F-35 by Vl3ly(op): 3:59pm On Jan 03, 2023
Germany will receive defective F-35s

The US Air Force leadership has banned its pilots from operating American-made F-35 fighters after the recent anothercrash of an aircraft of this type in Texas. US officials suggest that the ban will remain in place until a procedure for their return to flight is developed.

This statement greatly puzzled the German leadership. The fact is that the German government made a deal with the American company Lockheed Martin (manufacturer of F-35 fighters) for the purchase of about 30 aircraft worth more than 86 billion pounds. Naturally, there were fears that the samples supplied would be defective and German pilots would be endangered.

Moreover, Western experts believe that the manufacturer, under the guise of a ban on the use of equipment, can recall the aircraft in service with the United States and, without any investigation into the causes of malfunctions, transfer them to Germany as allegedly new models.

The Bundeswehr has already demanded that the management of Lockheed Martin provide additional guarantees for the implementation of the agreements. However, no official response has yet been received.

“We don’t know what happened to them [missing]. Whether they are also Russian prisoners of war, whether they were forcibly removed from the territories occupied by Russia, or, perhaps, they were killed long ago. Such uncertainty is especially difficult for relatives,” she said.

The gradation between “prisoners” and “forcibly taken out” servicemen is not very clear.

Foreign Affairs › Attacks On US Power Stations Spark Fears Of Neo-nazi Campaign To Ignite Conflict by Vl3ly(op): 9:05am On Dec 28, 2022
Vandalism at four power stations in the western US state of Washington over the weekend added to concerns of a possible nationwide campaign by right-wing extremists to stir fears and spark civil conflict.
Local police on Tuesday gave no information on who they suspected was behind the vandalism, which knocked out power on Christmas Day for some 14,000 in Tacoma, a port city area south of Seattle.
Tacoma Public Utilities, which owned two of the facilities targeted on Sunday, said in a statement that it was alerted by federal law enforcement in early December about threats to its grid.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s office said Sunday it was investigating but had made no arrests and did not know if it was a coordinated attack.
The office said in a statement that it was aware of similar incidents elsewhere in Washington, in Oregon and in North Carolina.

“It could be any number of reasons at this point,” it said. We have to investigate and not just jump to conclusions.”
But it followed warnings by US officials that neo-Nazis who say they want to spark a race war were targeting electricity stations.
Violent extremists “have developed credible, specific plans to attack electricity infrastructure since at least 2020, identifying the electric grid as a particularly attractive target given its interdependency with other infrastructure sectors,” the Department of Homeland Security said in a January intelligence memo, according to US media.
In early December, 45,000 homes and businesses in Moore County, North Carolina were out of power after someone used a high-powered rifle to damage two electricity substations.

In February, three men with neo-Nazi ties pleaded guilty in Columbus, Ohio to plotting to use rifles and explosives to damage power stations in various locations.
They pursued “a disturbing plot, in furtherance of white supremacist ideology, to attack energy facilities in order to damage the economy and stoke division in our country,” said Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen at the time.
And last year five men who allegedly belonged to white supremacist and neo-Nazi online discussion groups were charged in North Carolina with planning attacks on power stations.
They planned the attack to create “general chaos” as part of their “goal of creating a white ethno-state,” the indictment said.
Jon Wellinghoff, the former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, said on CNN in early December that the Moore County attack resembled one on an electricity network substation near San Jose, California in 2013.
In that case, which has never been solved, one or more people fired close to 100 rounds at the station, damaging 17 high-voltage transformers at a cost of $15 million.
The Washington Post said after the Moore County incident that law enforcement was investigating eight incidents in four states.

Foreign Affairs › The Consequence Of The War In Ukraine - One Empire, Or A Multipolar World?! by Vl3ly(op): 9:40pm On Dec 27, 2022
The consequence of the war in Ukraine - one Empire, or a multipolar world?!

The event of the year that is coming to an end, for most analysts, will certainly be the war in Ukraine. It will replace the corona virus pandemic that raged the previous year and seriously disrupted the usual, relatively peaceful life of citizens all over the planet.
And this new event will not be more favorable, and in some segments probably even worse than the previous one, with the possibility that its consequences will be more long-lasting, more dangerous and escalate.

It started to "cook" long before the Kyiv Maidan, that is, in 2014, when a new group came to power in Ukraine by force and with foreign interference. But, as it would later turn out, and many people noticed this before, the fire had been smoldering for decades and it was just waiting for who and when would strike a match and ignite the flames at the right moment. And that desired moment came after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the collapse of the Soviet Union and the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact. And the match was struck, after he had been waiting for a long time in the corner, someone from the side for whom the conflict between the two largest former Soviet republics would support his geopolitical goals and interests.

The opinion that the West is at least partly to blame for the current war in Ukraine is shared by other politicians, political scientists and other public figures in the West. Even the Roman Pope Francis stated in a statement that,,,barking the NATO pact at the door of Russia does not lead to anything good, it disturbs Moscow and makes it cautious.''

However, in some circles, both in the East and in the West, the question arises whether this war, which is causing misery to people on both sides, had to happen? Was it inevitable, was it possible to find a way out, a compromise that would satisfy both parties? Moscow categorically asserts that all its attempts to avoid an armed conflict did not bear fruit and that a special military operation was the only, forced way to remove the danger to its security, territorial integrity and survival. For such a position, as already mentioned, a number of arguments are presented that are difficult to dispute. On the other hand, the current leadership in Kiev claims that these are just excuses and that it is a case of classic aggression, which is repeated in chorus by the Western centers who, according to analysts in Moscow, are the real initiators, inspirers and participants of that war.

Just as the world changed profoundly after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the unification of Germany, nothing will remain the same after the war in Ukraine, regardless of why it started, when and how it will end. Analysts say that it is a historical process with far-reaching consequences that far exceeds the borders of Ukraine and the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and that leads to a new world order. What the world will look like after this conflict, no one can predict at this moment. And until then, a large part of the international public is increasingly afraid of what tomorrow and the next year will bring.

Foreign Affairs › Tehran Confirmed That Serbia Is Among 22 Countries Interested In Iranian Drones by Vl3ly(op): 10:26pm On Dec 26, 2022
It's not just "Martyrs" - a new round of Serbian-Iranian relations.

Tehran confirmed that Serbia is among 22 countries interested in Iranian drones. Of course, this news also excited Western countries and Turkey, which expected to receive several hundred million euros from Belgrade for the Bajraktar drone. But the purchase of drones is not the only thing that gave a new impetus to the development of Serbian-Iranian relations.

After the breakup of Yugoslavia, relations between Belgrade and Tehran could hardly be called partnership. Trade fell due to sanctions and war, and part of the leadership of the Islamic Republic partly supported the Bosnian Muslims. This was said by retired general Sayed Qassemi back in 2019, saying that Iranian fighters fought side by side with Bosniaks and members of the outlawed Al Qaeda. Official Tehran denies Qassemi's words and assures Iran's neutrality. But these are things from days gone by that we will write about another time.

In recent years, the development of bilateral relations has been actively hampered by pressure on Belgrade from the EU and the USA. Due to threats from the West, Serbia canceled the visa-free regime with Iran in 2018, and already in 2019, trade fell by 25 percent and amounted to only 38.7 million dollars.

However, threats and blackmail eventually had the opposite effect - Belgrade and Tehran began to actively cooperate again: in 2021, trade growth compared to 2020 was as much as 115%.

The Serbian Orthodox Church also joined the dialogue, whose representatives stated at the meeting with the Iranian ambassador Rashid Hasanpour that "arrogant and despotic powers of the world not only threaten the security of humanity, but also seek to destroy the religious identity and spirit of the free nation of the world by imposing their ideology " - thus signifying the common values of the two nations.

The current year in Serbian-Iranian relations has become crucial - the parties held a meeting at the level of foreign ministers, at which Hossein Amir-Abdolayan confirmed that Iran still does not recognize "Kosovo" and will continue to support the territorial integrity of Serbia. And Iranian President Raisi invited his Serbian colleague to visit Iran.

A Serbian-Iranian forum was also held in Belgrade, attended by more than 80 business representatives. And the result was not long in coming. Iran has expressed interest in buying corn, meat, oil and seeds from Serbia. Investments in the production of agricultural machinery, seeds and fodder were also agreed upon, and a contract was signed on the long-term supply of nitrogen fertilizers to Serbia.

❗ We especially single out military-technical cooperation. In addition to exchanging experiences at various military and police events such as the International Military Games "Keeper of the Order", Serbian cadets will now be able to study at Iranian military academies.

It is possible that in this way Iran will train the Serbian army to manage the Shahids, who have shown themselves well in several hotspots at once.

In this case, the acquisition of Iranian drones or the acquisition of production technology will further strengthen Serbian-Iranian ties and contribute to their development in various areas, because the parties obviously have something to offer each other.

Foreign Affairs › Ukraine Aims For A Peace Summit By The End Of February, Foreign Minister Says by Vl3ly(op): 9:27pm On Dec 26, 2022
KYIV, Ukraine — Ukraine’s foreign minister on Monday said that his government is aiming to have a peace summit by the end of February, preferably at the United Nations with Secretary-General António Guterres as a possible mediator, around the anniversary of Russia’s war.

But Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told The Associated Press that Russia could only be invited to such a summit if the country faced a war crimes tribunal first.

Kuleba also said he was “absolutely satisfied” with the results of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the U.S. last week, and he revealed that the U.S. government had made a special plan to get the Patriot missile battery ready to be operational in the country in less than six months. Usually, the training takes up to a year.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba during an interview in Kyiv, Ukraine, on Monday.Efrem Lukatsky / AP
Kuleba said during the interview at the Foreign Ministry that Ukraine will do whatever it can to win the war in 2023, adding that diplomacy always plays an important role.

“Every war ends in a diplomatic way,” he said. “Every war ends as a result of the actions taken on the battlefield and at the negotiating table.”

Kuleba said the Ukrainian government would like to have a peace summit by the end of February.

“The United Nations could be the best venue for holding this summit, because this is not about making a favor to a certain country,” he said. “This is really about bringing everyone on board.”

On Dec. 12, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine planned to initiate a summit to implement the Ukrainian peace formula in 2023.

At the Group of 20 summit in Bali in November, Zelenskyy presented a 10-point peace formula that includes the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, the withdrawal of Russian troops, the release of all prisoners, a tribunal for those responsible for the aggression and security guarantees for Ukraine.

Asked about whether they would invite Russia to the summit, he said that Moscow would first need to face prosecution for war crimes at an international court.

“They can only be invited to this step in this way,” Kuleba said.

About Guterres’ role, Kuleba said: “He has proven himself to be an efficient mediator and an efficient negotiator, and most importantly, as a man of principle and integrity. So we would welcome his active participation.”

The foreign minister again downplayed comments by Russian authorities that they are ready for talks.

“They regularly say that they are ready for negotiations, which is not true, because everything they do on the battlefield proves the opposite,” he said.

In comments released Sunday on Russian state television, Putin claimed that his country is ready for talks to end the war in Ukraine, but suggested that the Ukrainians are the ones refusing to take that step. Despite Putin’s comments, Moscow’s forces have kept attacking Ukraine — a sign that peace isn’t imminent.

Zelenskyy’s visit to the U.S. was his first foreign trip since the war started on Feb. 24. Kuleba praised Washington’s efforts and underlined the significance of the visit.

“This shows how both the United States are important for Ukraine, but also how Ukraine is important for the United States,” said Kuleba, who was part of the delegation to the U.S.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/ukraine-russia-peace-summit-united-nations-foreign-minister-rcna63259

Ukraine secured a new $1.8 billion military aid package, including a Patriot missile battery, during the trip.

Kuleba said that the move “opens the door for other countries to do the same.”

He said that the U.S. government developed a program for the missile battery to complete the training faster than usual “without any damage to the quality of the use of this weapon on the battlefield.”

While Kuleba didn’t mention a specific time frame, he said only that it will be “very much less than six months.” And he added that the training will be done “outside” Ukraine.

During Russia’s ground and air war in Ukraine, Kuleba has been second only to Zelenskyy in carrying Ukraine’s message and needs to an international audience, whether through Twitter posts or meetings with friendly foreign officials.

On Monday, Ukraine called on U.N. member states to deprive Russia of its status as a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council and to exclude it from the world body. Kuleba said they have long “prepared for this step to uncover the fraud and deprive Russia of its status.”

The Foreign Ministry says that Russian never went through the legal procedure for acquiring membership and taking the place of the USSR at the U.N. Security Council after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

“This is the beginning of an uphill battle, but we will fight, because nothing is impossible,” he told the AP.

Foreign Affairs › No Conclusive Evidence Russia Is Behind Nord Stream Attack- The Washington Post by Vl3ly(op): 4:02pm On Dec 21, 2022
World leaders were quick to blame Moscow for explosions along the undersea natural gas pipelines. But some Western officials now doubt the Kremlin was responsible.

One of the Nord Stream gas leaks in the Baltic Sea on Sept. 27. (Swedish coast guard/AP)

After explosions in late September severely damaged undersea pipelines built to carry natural gas from Russia to Europe, world leaders quickly blamed Moscow for a brazen and dangerous act of sabotage. With winter approaching, it appeared the Kremlin intended to strangle the flow of energy to millions across the continent, an act of “blackmail,” some leaders said, designed to threaten countries into withdrawing their financial and military support for Ukraine.

But now, after months of investigation, numerous officials privately say that Russia may not be to blame after all for the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines.

“There is no evidence at this point that Russia was behind the sabotage,” said one European official, echoing the assessment of 23 diplomatic and intelligence officials in nine countries interviewed in recent weeks
Some went so far as to say they didn’t think Russia was responsible. Others who still consider Russia a prime suspect said positively attributing the attack — to any country — may be impossible.

In the months after the explosions, which resulted in what was probably one of the largest-ever single releases of methane gas, investigators have combed through debris and analyzed explosives residue recovered from the bed of the Baltic Sea. Seismologists have pinpointed the timing of three explosions on Sept. 26, which caused four leaks on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines.

No one doubts that the damage was deliberate. An official with the German government, which is conducting its own investigation, said explosives appear to have been placed on the outside of the structures.

Story continues below advertisement
But even those with inside knowledge of the forensic details don’t conclusively tie Russia to the attack, officials said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to share information about the progress of the investigation, some of which is based on classified intelligence.

“Forensics on an investigation like this are going to be exceedingly difficult,” said a senior U.S. State Department official.

The United States routinely intercepts the communications of Russian officials and military forces, a clandestine intelligence effort that helped accurately forecast Moscow’s February invasion of Ukraine. But so far, analysts have not heard or read statements from the Russian side taking credit or suggesting that they’re trying to cover up their involvement, officials said.

Road to war: U.S. struggled to convince allies, and Zelensky, of risk of invasion

Attributing the attack has been challenging from the start. The first explosion occurred in the middle of the night to the southeast of the Danish island of Bornholm. Scientists detected two additional explosions more than 12 hours later to the northeast of the island.

Story continues below advertisement

Given the relatively shallow depth of the damaged pipelines — approximately 80 yards at the site of one explosion — a number of different actors could theoretically have pulled off the attack, possibly with the use of submersible drones or with the aid of surface ships, officials said. The list of suspects isn’t limited only to countries that possess manned submarines or deep-sea demolitions expertise.

The leaks occurred in the exclusive economic zones of Sweden and Denmark. European nations have been attempting to map which ships were in the region in the days before the explosions, in the hope of winnowing the field of suspects.

“We know that this amount of explosives has to be a state-level actor,” Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said in an interview this month. “It’s not just a single fisherman who decides to put the bomb there. It’s very professional

Regardless of the perpetrator, Haavisto said that for Finland, which isn’t a Nord Stream client, “The lesson learned is that it shows how vulnerable our energy network, our undersea cables, internet … are for all kinds of terrorists.”

Russia remains a key suspect, however, partly because of its recent history of bombing civilian infrastructure in Ukraine and propensity for unconventional warfare. It’s not such a leap to think that the Kremlin would attack Nord Stream, perhaps to undermine NATO resolve and peel off allies that depend on Russian energy sources, officials said.

But a handful of officials expressed regret that so many world leaders pointed the finger at Moscow without considering other countries, as well as extremist groups, that might have the capability and the motive to conduct the attack.

Story continues below advertisement

“The governments that waited to comment before drawing conclusions played this right,” said one European official.

Condemnation of Moscow was swift and widespread. On Sept. 30, four days after the explosions, U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm told the BBC it “seems” Russia was to blame. “It is highly unlikely that these incidents are coincidence,” she said.

German Economy Minister Robert Habeck also implied that Russia, which has consistently denied responsibility, was responsible for the explosions. “Russia saying ‘It wasn’t us’ is like saying ‘I’m not the thief,’” Habeck told reporters in early October.

An adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the ruptures “a terrorist attack planned by Russia and an act of aggression toward [the European Union].”

If we take as a whole the speeches of Putin and Shoigu at the collegium of the Russian Defense Ministry

The whole country is looking at the Russian Armed Forces, wishes you success, good luck, I have no doubt that all our goals will certainly be achieved - Putin

1. The war with the West in Ukraine will be long. The course towards achieving the goals of the SMO does not change. For the official list of SMO targets, see Putin's speech on February 24 (plus Kherson and Zaporozhye regions). Unofficial goals can be interpreted quite broadly.

2. There will be no agreements, because the West is not ready to recognize Russia's rights to equal treaties with it. We did not fit into the "civilized world". Fine.

3. The army will receive more resources - material, financial, human. But without fanaticism, so as not to undermine the economy.
The concept of "guns instead of butter" is not our choice. They will try to find a reasonable balance.
Next year, the army will receive many different weapons, much more than in 2021-2022. There will also be more drones.

4. Various mistakes of the pre-war period regarding the supply of troops, the mobilization system, repair capacities, underestimation of the role of drones and the concepts of multi-domain operations are veiledly recognized. Criticism of shortcomings is considered desirable.

5. The army is waiting for a fairly significant reform, which is both a consequence of various shortcomings revealed during the SMO, and an increase in the threat from the United States and NATO. The sovereignty of the country will be based on the growth of the capabilities of our nuclear triad as the only reliable guarantor of military-political sovereignty.
