@Massif, u seem to rush into conclusion without clear observation and reasononing. Someone who studied biochem gave his reason for wanting to go back to school after which he/she quoted my post. Are u new to this forum? Should i be ashamed of graduating with a 4.27 (2nd Class Upper) in computer engineering when people are out there wishing to be in my shoes? i hav always had passion for medicine & surgery since my childhood but i was discouraged so early. So, i decided to go for computer engineering where i graduated with cgpa of 4.27 i.e second class upper. I am currently doing my NYSC, 2012 batch C and the dream is still on in me. I wish to use DE into med/surg in UNIZIK. Pls, i need advice on how to go about this weda it will be possible, do they write aptitude test? How do i go about processing it. @Valemite, could you drop some of the ideas here. Do u know criteria used in selecting these projects for award? Coz i know some people are after d award and not the emediate cash.

I was just trying to give u clue on how to get people on thinking fast to feed u with idea. Ok, just go around your community and look out for what is being lacked there. What u think will better d lives of the people there. Good luck. Am also planning on carrying out one.

i use vb.net to develop and have sold some of my softwares. There is a software i want to develope and i need it to be sponsord by a firm. I am currently doin the feasibilty study and i have been asked to put down my budget but i dont know how to do the costing to arrive at a particular amount. I am also pretending not to be the developer. Please, giv me d break down how i should arive at an amount and if possible, involve ghost workers in the project. Thanks for ur assistance.

Holla me on 07031557301 lets rub mind cos u r of great mind too. I am planning 2 migrate d CGPA software from ms access 2 MYSQL but dat will be when am done with my current project.

I have already developed dat with access and vb.net 2008. I also developed d one that run on local area network of computers but i used MYSQL for it cos i sold dat one to schools.

It is very possible and i develop with dem. You can also make dem to run on Local area network.

If its just a simple application 2 compute CGPA or GPA, its simple but if its d one dat would be used in a department, it will be complex because u have 2 take not of carry over, borrowed courses, students registration, grading, classifying of degree, automatic increment of students level as d year goes on, etc. Dats very complex and it has to generate reports dats printable

I have already developed a CGPA mgt system for a department in my school and some students hav also used it as thei final year project. Its a stand alone desktop application with ms access for its back end as well as mysql database. I used VB.NET to develop it.

In going about d development, u nid 2 undastnd how GPA and CGPA is calculated. Know ur input and output requirements and there u go.

Window based hospital management system that would run on local area network of the hospital.

From what am seeing, this guy wants to develop a simple desktop application that would run on network of computers (LAN) with the database hosted in a particular computer for all the client to communicate to. The application will keep records of the church members and manage the members groups or organisation, paying of church dues, plegdes and all that. It can also be used to pass announcement to members or a particular group by sms. This is a simple project shaaa and he can do it if he is serious about it.

The poster is asking how he can go about to get his church project done since he has never developed such software. You stated ASP.NET. How does he go about developing his church software with ASP.NET? U nid to tell him how to begin and why he is to use ASP.NET. I hope u are not telling us the language you know. ASP.NET could be VB.NET or C#, you need to be open coz you are talking to a novice. Thanks for the contribution anyway but you should have backed up your suggestion.

No, u can not chose between vb.net or mysql, u chose the two or u pick mysql and any language u will use to communicate with d database. Mysql is d database dat stores ur data. Then, vb.net or any language is what u use to develope interface that will communicate with ur database. As said earlier, phpmyadmin is an interface that can communicate with mysql but i dont advice u to use phpmyadmin for the users who do not have technical knowlegde of phpmyadmin. U have to consider the end users of this software. If it should run on local area network, i think it should be a desktop application with very beautiful interface with robust interaction so that an ordinary person can use it. Yes, they can exchange message if the computers are on the same network.
Yes, u can also send sms to a group of people on the database provided their phone number is there.

First of all, select your choice of language, VB or C# or java or any one that will suit you. Get the basic foundation of the language and then, get the requirements of this project. From there, you see the next step to take. I encourage you to use easy language like VB.NET. When ever u have any problem, bring it up here or u call me. Goodluck

the project is not tasking at all. I believe u can do this ursef since u hav knowledge of programming. I understand you want the application to be an offline desktop application. I suggest u learn easy language like VB.NET and MYSQL or SQL SERVER database is ok for the back end. If you can call me, i will tell you how to go about it. And from there, you can develope higher applications, even the ones that would run on LAN. Call 07031557301
