Check ds out. 1st draft copy of d timetable. Look it up n notify the management of any unexpected!
Thank you. Please I need to ask this because is very important. Where I'm working I have to apply for casual leave in advance to be able to sit for the exam. Once I apply is going to be difficult to change it. My question now is that do you think the exam dates wont be changed? From experience Noun follow their time table strictly?

If your transcript has been received & processed by PG school, you will see YES infront of the transcipt menu of ur profile. That is a sure way to check. During my time, I submitted transcript for over 3wks yet it kept showing "NO" now I know I need to worry.... I had to go and ask only to know my transcript label isn't attached hence it wasn't processed. A YES show it has been received. #cheers

BTW success to all of you writing the EPT this week. God is ur muscle oooo. Don't 4get speed and accuracy is the key.
Did u apply this year or you have started the program already

Hello House, Pls, I need to know if am expected to receive a confirmation from UI in any notification form whatsoever when my transcript is delivered to the admission office.. Kindly Educate or Do i need to call to confirm
The best way is to go and check or send somebody. Did you attached the transcript label? If no go and submit it so that it will attached to your transcript or else it may not be processed. You can do that after the proficiency test.

Just checked my mail and i haven't gotten any invite for the test. I choose Ibadan center. Even my eligibility status, financially clearance for payment of the application form have not been updated yet and my transcript as gotten to UI already over a week now. Financial Mathematics was the course i applied for.

Can anyone assist with a useful information cos i tried calling the number on the site to at least get an update but the number has always been switched off.
Are u sure u submitted your application and lock up your data? Forget about transcript for now, it is not yet relevant.

My advice of you dropping your Elective courses was in context. Just for ds semester due to your tight schedule. It's not advisable not to register elevtives as "they safe a-rses", enrich your knowledge & transcripts and some must be reg'd to attain min graduating unit. Electives are not really Electives in some cases! Example is: MSc IT has 6 Electives (3/semester), 1st semester TCU is 20 units, 2nd sem TCU is 22units and expected min unit load per semester for d prog is 20units! Tell me, how would any student graduates without, at least, reg 5 Electives, +1 as "surety" in case?!
So, you CAN'T do without E status courses.
From your explanation, I deduce these: If I drop the electives now I have to do them later. It means I may not finish in a two semesters.
The only reason I will drop them is if they won't delay my program cos I want to finish as soon as possible. If by doing them now will let me finish in two semesters, I ll find all means to read and pass them.

Another semester starts by late Dec. You'll likely be asked to fill form(s) at your SC, but do NOT pay your compulsory fee yet. However, if you are sure you can do well in the forthcoming exam, then, you're good to go ahead with the registration.
I think me and him are in the same shoe. I registered since June but haven't read anything. So if he would have time to read before exam I think he should go ahead now. I am just suggesting.

Thanks once again everyone for keeping this thread alive and well. I do hope we all get whatever it is that brought us here!

And what's more, I have seen my previous semester's results! Before you ask, there were great and i appreciate the encouragement!
I think we are the one that suppose to thank you for creating this thread. Congratulations on your success. Seriously speaking i am afraid when i see people complaining here that they had F in a course but now you have boost my moral. Are you through with your program now?

Congrats! Disregard d date.
Exam will likely commence by last week of ds month, hence, you might consider doing your registration Jan.

Wableo: if you're a BSc student, drop them, else, don't. Most electives are only termed elective but aint elective! Not elective as in, one MUST register & pass them to meet d graduating unit.

Bornsad: Congrats to you & success in the forthcoming exams. Joining by Jan, by His grace.
Thank you. So I can do without electives throughout the duration of the program? What is the maximum units to attain before graduation? I applied with Bsc though from elect/ elect

Masters Information Technology (MIT) is different from MSc in Information Technology (MSc InfoTech) just like Masters Business Administration (MBA) is different from MA in Business Administration (MA Bus. Admin.) and Masters Public Administration different from MA in Public Administration (MA Pub Admin). They all sound alike and probably have same full meanings but the course contents differ extensively. MIT just like every other professional masters accept people from any field of study. It is a job-oriented degree, less scientific but more expensive.

NOUN does not offer MIT as it requires more hands-on involvement. Presently, only a very few schools are accredited to do MIT in Nigeria.
Thank you for the clarification. Now I understand.

MSc. InfoTech is Academic degree while MIT is Professional. If you intend getting PhD in InfoTech or any related course, MSc is your choice, else MIT.
MIT differ from masters in information technology? I taught they are the same.
Lest I forget I can't find GST807 in the site. Somebody said is the same as GST101 is it true? What about EPL101 is it also a course? Then added it to my courses.

Corrected: Msc InfoTech is an academic masters in technology and can precede PhD and DTech in any institution. The professional masters is MIT. The name InfoTech should not be misleading, any tech course like Biotech, Food Science and Tech, MedTech etc sounds as such but Msc in any of these courses still remains academic and could lead to their respective PhD/Dtech programs. Professional masters don't usually have MSc attached to it e.g. MBA, MPA, MIT etc....
Info Tech is MSc in Inforation Technology right? What is MIT? Same things? Both academic?

Thank you for this information. Pls can someone apply for PhD with the MSc information technology in NOUN. I mean PhD in other conventional universities in and outside Nigeria. Pls if you can mention specific or related examples, it will go a long way in helping.
No. MSc in Info Tech is professional, so it is terminal. You cannot use it to proceed to PHD in any university including NOUN. I stand to be corrected.

In some courses, we have two types of masters. One is called academic masters while the other is called professional masters.

Academic masters presents you with advanced topics in your field and the choice of narrowing it down to some specific areas thus giving you the opportunity to understand and contribute your own quota in those areas, promote the field more and make use of what you've learned at your place of work.

Professional masters is more job oriented. It perches on the day to day practices of the field in question with respect to actual work environment. It's more accommodating to people from other departments since it's more like a training for the job than an academic research in the field in question. It's usually more expensive though.

The one you choose is amatter of choice.

Here are some examples:

MSc Comp Sci (Academic)/ MIT (professional)
MA Bus Admin (Academic)/MBA (professional)
MA Pub Admin (Academic)/MPA (professional)
Etc.
