delivite: good evening everyone... I'm glad I found this thread. I've learnt a lot already... thanks to all the contributors...
I applied for MSc in information technology at the Asaba study in 2012. I was given admission and everything but due to economic circumstances at the time I bailed.
I'm working now and will like to pick up and get my masters. should I apply afresh? I did not apply to defer my admission. And what should be the next step to take?
Thanks again, BornSad and co... U don't need to apply afresh. Go to the center and collect your matric no if u haven't. Pay your fees and start your program fast. |

Pelupelu: this depend on a number of factors:
*University policies *No of applicant in your Dept/level of competition *your course of study *and so on.. *Its minimum of 3.50/60% across Dept/Faculties but the bar is often raised to 4.0 for those in social sciences/education if the competition is high. *55-59% often go for Mph *any cgpa below 55% is not acceptable for Phd irrespective of dept... OK thank you so much. But a cgpa of 4.0 must be accepted I think |

kunleee: MimiHANS how sure are u about the 30 units for PGD cus have seen several people mention 40 units b4. @wableo where does one choose elective from when the portal does not put elective in the list of registrable courses. Infact PGD Bus Admin have in total, 34 units including Project. You will see elective courses with E writing in front if them. Compulsory courses has C in front. If total units is 34, it means minimum can't be more than 30. Just do all your courses in case of anything. |

Joe50: even some people that did not submit their project saw their names on the graduating list and done the convocation and collected their results.
i think these people are sick; they don't know some people can commit suicide, why would they select students that will graduate and leave others despite they have no issues and met all requirements.
the worst part is that they just locked up as if everything is fine. so many students did not convocate, no certificate, we don't even know why and where the problem is coming from. no information, all the SC can't even give concrete reason or answer to your question. Well, you are right to be angry but this kind of things happen everywhere. I have seen people that graduated and didnt collect their result for 3 years in conventional universities that exist more than 20 years. Noun has so many students and still at a young age, mistake may be unavoidable for now. Noun is getting better everyday let look at the positive side and accept the negatives for now. Noun improve so fast at a speed many universities didnt when they were created. |

BornSad: I see....
Won't your maximum credit load this semester accommodate both the course and your project? That is not the problem. I have registered all the courses including project online. When I went to submit my 3 project topics for approval at the center, they rejected it that I must do exam on 20 units courses before I can get a surpervisor. |
Education › Re: A Thread For All Prospective\New Postgraduate. Students Of NOUN by wableo: 9:45pm On Jan 14, 2016 |
BornSad: Bro, I said it many times here that you don't drop a course cause it's called elective. You can only drop an elective course when you've met up with the minimum credit limit for the semester.
Anyway, they'd only refuse to accept it if the maximum credit limit for the second semester cannot accommodate both project and the dropped course. Yes is true you said it but it was late for me when I saw it. To add it and start preparing for it for exam with work and other factors may not be easy. Though I later register the course for registration last semester I will just register it for exam this semester |
Education › Re: A Thread For All Prospective\New Postgraduate. Students Of NOUN by wableo: 3:37am On Jan 14, 2016 |
I didn't know that u have to do at least 20 units before you can be registered for project. I did 17 in first semester dropping an elective unwillingly. I have done my proposal but they refuse to accept it. Now I must do third semester I think. |

I great everyone here. Pls I need advice. I have a degree in electrical and Electronic Engineering. I have applied for masters 4 times but was denied each time. Maybe unlucky but I now my poor cgpa contributed hugely to this, I had 2.6. I applied to a particular school 3 times. I am doing an msc in information technology in NOUN but want to still come back to electrical cause I know I love it my result is just a badluck. Do you think I should continue with info tech or go back to elect. I am planning to do a PHD where I can make it fast. Which one amog the two is more lucrative. Thanks |

BornSad: Thanks a lot, baba. You nailed it.
Just a little correction. Projects are registered as a course for 2k, yes but NOT as an exam.
The PROJECT found under the exam category is not meant to be registered.
And yes, I'm done with the school Thank you and congratulations on the completion of your program. |

ejibaba: Permit me to answer for him.
1. Well, you don't need to pay the 40k before you start the process for the project writing. If indeed you want to round up this semester you should have submitted you topic last semester. Anyway, you can do it now as quick as possible so before the semester ends you start writing and assigned a supervisor quick. But you must pay the 40k before the portal closes.
2. Yes you will register it 2k.
3. Yes you can. This was information I lacked that made me spent more than 2. But the bottom line is make sure you have 40 credit unit minimum at the end of the day.
4. I already answered part of this in 1. However, rush to your SC drop 3 topics typied to the counsellor or whoever is in charge but trust me you should have done it long ago cos there is usually delay sometimes but it's not too late.
5. I know 5 people in the north cos am based here. As for schools that accepts it, ABU Zaria, ATBU Bauchi, Nasarawa state University keffi, and University of Jos currently have NOUN students doing PhD. Trust me it's NUC approved check their site, you have nothing to worry about. The worst is they give you Mphil of 1year.
6. I will leave that question for the person you asked.
Thank You Thank you for using your time to give answers to my questions. Thanks so much. |

Compliments of the season Bornsad. Hope u will change your username this year...lol. I am confused now. I paid 40000 into my portal on monday. Plus 14k I have before make it a total of 54k. The compulsory fee of 23k was deducted and I registered all my courses for this semester. But to my surprise the project with is 6 units was not going, when I checked well I realised that it was actually 40k for project registration. My balance after course registration was 14k that is why project was not going.
Now these are my questions
1. Must I register for project with 40k before I start project proper?
2. I will still register project under exam registration?
3. Can I finish the project and my program in noun this semester considering I don't have any failed course. To avoid paying for a third semester.
4. Hints on how to submit project topics, get approval and surpervisor on time.
5. Can u help me with any federal university name(s) that may accept me for PHD. Actually I am considering University of Ibadan do you think or know anybody they accept provided he meet up with the basic requirements.
6. Lastly are u through with Noun?
Thank you |

I have registered my courses. My problem now is that my project is showing 40k. I am in 2nd semester masters. I want to start my project as soon as possible, I must register the project with 40k before I start? I just pay 40k today and left with 14k in my portal. What is the best thing for me to do now cos I must finish this program as soon as possible. |
