Emir86: What percentage is our transcript? And will the admission be done centrally or based on department. My opinion is that, UI postgraduate owns admission process, each faculty will have little or no say..#my opinion U are wrong. The only thing that the PG school own is the proficiency test. Once you pass the department determine the rest. |

Though i applied for M.info.Sc........information science. Is there nothing to show up? I think they are busy with convocation preparations. Convocation start this week and ends next week. BornSad: Any failed course will be repeated provided it is a compulsory course. So let's hope you do not fail any of those (hoping on TMA's this time). I advice you always prepare well ahead of any exam cause NOUN lecturers are just full of surprises. One more thing, strive to hit high scores in your TMA's; those can save your as s. 30/30 in TMA's simply means you just need 20/70 in the exam to get a C in the course.
Like I said earlier, here are my steps (which I personally call the mega-material approach):
* Strike high scores in the online TMA's (very important).
* Read down the whole material just to have an idea of what the course is all about; not necessarily studying this time cause some causes are just too voluminous.
* Do the TMA's at the end of each unit in the material. Now, this involves studying and even cramming. Write down the answers somewhere; let's call the place mega-material for the case of this expo. The good thing is, some lecturers simply pick exam questions from here.
* Solve as much past question as you can. Also write down the answers down in the mega-material excluding redundant questions. The more you solve the better. Some lecturers are known for repeating past questions.
* Finally, during the exam period, just read (or cram when necessary) the mega-material! It is always little and straight to the point. And guess what, it will be as if you saw the exam questions before entering the exam hall!
This is a tested and trusted approach, bro. It is no longer about how hard but how smart. I'm always busy and do not have time to read every line in those materials with endless number of pages so I adopted the above steps and guess what, I have only recorded just one 'B' ever since I started my MSc program! No more surprises in the exam hall. Just give it a try.
Did I forget the importance of joining a good Whatsapp group? This ensure that you get good explanations on some techy courses like programming and the likes. Again, seeing people jacking and discussing the contents of these materials also prompts you to do more. And what's more, it means more sources of past questions, general information and connections!
So adopt the mega-material approach and show NOUN the stuff you're made of!
Best of luck and never loose courage. Wow. Great explanation! Actually my problem is that i cant cram. I forget too easily. Pls your first degree is in which course. Thanks |

Education › Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by wableo: 7:16pm On Oct 17, 2015 |
kosplateau: yeah no need...u get all courses all 42 units. just register it for course only...it joins others under exam reg next semester. OK. Can I start project now? |
Education › Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by wableo: 12:41pm On Oct 17, 2015 |
kosplateau: portal is still open, u can register ur 891 today and include it under exam next semester and do all courses if u like. I have register for it now. So now no need to drop any course right? |
Education › Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by wableo: 10:43pm On Oct 16, 2015 |
kosplateau: It is better u take that option of dropping either CIT832 or 844 and pick up 891 and still include ur project under course registration only. So that ur topic can be assessed and a supervisor assigned, then u begin dealing with d supervisor in ur unactivated third semester. OK. Thank you bro. Now I understand clearly |
Education › Re: A Thread For All Prospective\New Postgraduate. Students Of NOUN by wableo: 7:30pm On Oct 16, 2015 |
BornSad: Thanks!
as regards your question, lecturers differ extensively. Advice is, always consider the marks associated with the questions.... I didn't do two courses well. Both are 2 units. I can only guarantee getting one question out of 4 correctly. Is it a carry over? |
Education › Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by wableo: 7:08pm On Oct 16, 2015 |
baba11: Project code is cit 899.... If you want to prevent yourself from paying extra 23k,register everything now including your project....if you like, you can leave out a 2 units course... then come the third semester, just go ahead and do your project, you don't need to register anything then OK. Thanks |
Education › Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by wableo: 6:59pm On Oct 16, 2015*. Modified: 7:20pm On Oct 16, 2015 |
kosplateau: nope ...it's only d N13,000 to activate ur second semester and other course and exams fees. no matter what, don't pay or register ur project (CIT899) for exam. If u do, ur N2,000 is sharaa!
Even if ur SC allows u or didn't enforce its sighting, on convocation day or point of cert collection, u must pay or provide evidence of ur N40,000 project fee. OK. If I didn't register project which is 6 units, I will have space to put all my courses, am I right?. When I suppose to pay 40k project fee , how to get a good topic and supervisor fast. And any other advice for project. Thanks |
Education › Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by wableo: 1:29pm On Oct 16, 2015 |
kosplateau: If u consider an activated third semester, no worries...it is extra N23,000. But what happens is that most people don't have any course to register in the third semester as all had been registered in d previous two semesters...so u just do only ur project in the unactivated third semester.
If not, in ur second semester, do away with one of those two units' courses; CIT832 or 844 and bring in ur 891 to achieve 23 units...that gives u 40 units overall!
U can actually be graduated with 39 units... I said so because I have seen. But in this case, u may like to drop 834-harder and pick up 891.
It is unofficially a three-semester program with ur research project; CIT899 being done in the last semester after u had done the examinables.
CIT802 is an examinable course.
Again, u can register ur 891 now if it is still possible-if course reg is still open and next semester, pick it up under exams reg and don't register ur project for exams. You will still have ur 42 units. Good. Now if I drop a 2units course and add 981 to make it 40 units, do I need to pay 23k for the third semester? Or I will just do my project without paying any fee. What is the course code for project. |
