Surfline Communications has received 30 million US dollars to offer Ghana its first 4G LTE network. Surfline receives US$30 million from Vantage towards its 4G LTE network. PHOTOS: Surflinegh.com/Revue-afrique.com The Ghanaian based telecommunications network has received the funds from Vantage Capital, a South African based mezzanine debt provider to expand its 4G LTE network in the West African country as well as grow its product distribution and marketing network. “We are delighted to announce that we have made our third investment outside of South Africa. Over the last five years, Vantage has reviewed over 600 investment opportunities and we consider Surfline to be one of the most exciting deals we have seen,” said Luc Albinski, managing partner at Vantage. By deploying Ghana’s first 4G LTE mobile network, Surfline will be able to offer internet connectivity at a speed 10 times faster than the average speeds of the existing mobile network operators. John Taylor, Surfline’s executive chairman added, “Vantage provided us with growth capital in a shareholder-friendly structure that we required to expand the business by supplementing the existing financing in place.” Since Surfline’s network does not rely on the limited fixed line telecommunications infrastructure in Ghana, the company is able to rapidly roll-out its services across its coverage area. Yaw Keteku, associate partner at Vantage added that since Surfline’s launch in August 2014, it has experienced tremendous growth in its consumer and corporate customer bases. “Under John Taylor’s visionary leadership, Surfline has assembled a team of highly-skilled professionals and technical partners who have built a first class communication network to meet Ghana’s ever-growing data demand. We have developed a close working relationship with the Surfline team and we look forward to supporting the business as it grows,” Keteku said. Surfline is Vantage’s second investment in Ghana after its 18.5 million US dollars commitment to an independent power producer, Genser Energy that is currently being used to commission a 30 megawatt power plant. Mutle Mogase, Vantage’s chairman said that with these investments, the fund is contributing almost 50 million US dollars towards the improvement of Ghana’s infrastructure. “The developmental multiplier effect of increased power generation capacity and high-speed internet will drive further economic growth in the country,” Mogase said. http://www.africlandpost.com/ghanas-internet-connectivity-reaches-new-speed/ |

Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has warned men to be careful of women who mount pressure on them to prove their love, because such women want to “kill” them. As part of a Sunday sermon at the Accra headquarters of the Christian Action Faith Ministries (CAFM) on October 26, 2014, the charismatic preacher told his congregation that any man who succumbs to such pressure from his woman, risks suffering the fate of the biblical Samson, who became powerless after revealing the source of his physical strength to his lover – Delilah – after similar pressure. Below is transcription of Duncan-Williams’ comments on that specific issue: “You know something? I’m married. It’s not everything I tell my wife. I’m just telling you. Sometimes people will come and see me and she’ll see us talking talking talking and when they go she’ll say: ‘What’s going on? You’ve been talking for too long’. I say: ‘Nothing’. ‘Is there any problem?’ I say: ‘No problem’. ‘Is she ok?’ ‘Yes she’s fine fine’. “Why should I tell you? It’s none of your business. It’s not part of the marriage vows. I didn’t marry you to tell you people’s business. It’s my job. It’s like a doctor: I don’t have to tell you details of people’s business. It’s none of your business. And you can say I don’t love you, you can say whatever you want to say, I’ve come too far to be manipulated by moods and tears, and you know, I told one of my sons, I say: ‘Whenever a woman say[s]: ‘You don’t love me, you don’t love me’, it’s because she wants to kill you [laughter follows from both Duncan-Williams and the congregation]. “You can laugh but it’s true. You remember Samson and Delilah? Delilah kept telling Samson: ‘You don’t love me, you don’t love me, if you love me you’ll tell me your secret, if you love me you’ll tell me your secret, if you love me you’ll tell me your secret’, and Samson was so foolish that he wanted to prove to Delilah that he loved her and told him the secret of his covenant. “He fooled with three women. Delilah was the third one. The first and second, he didn’t reveal the secret. It was Delilah that got him to reveal the secret of his covenant, and when he did, he was finished. “She vexed him to prove if he loved her. It was a provocation, and sometimes there are people who can vex you to prove and to show whether you are committed to them or not, and you have to know, when those days come that I don’t owe you: I don’t have to prove anything. “And I told a son of mine like that; I said: ‘She’s provoking you; she wants to kill you’. You can look at me any way you want to look at me. I said: ‘The way she’s pushing you, prove prove prove’, I said: ‘Don’t prove anything’”. http://news.peacefmonline.com/pages/social/201410/220615.php

Nigeria is really an underdeveloped country and majority of the governors are backward. A state governor builds an ordinary stadium with questionable contracts and he is being celebrated here like he has built the 8th wonder of the world and with such an elaborate ceremony, because of ordinary stadium. Bush people in the jungle suddenly transported to the 21st century. There is not a single spectacular building in the entire country. |

Kwame Nkrumah missed one big point. SOme Africans are very tribalistic and have no respect!!! Too much kindness and they will eat you alive. Ghanaians are the nicest people in Africa and look at the thanks we have gotten for it! If more Ghanaians were like me(which will happen soon hopefully) Ghana would be in much better shape.. Ghana had among the best economies in the world in the 60's but, we wasted money funding liberation movements around Africa, now Eba eaters want to insult Ghana. The same country that held Nigayria hands to gain independence. ![]() |
