TV/MoviesRe: Cost Of Making A Music Video? by waltbanger: 12:10am On Nov 26, 2007
Cost of a DECENT video realistically is 200k upward. Anything less and you'll get a cheap ass looking video.
Cos of a HDV cam is on average 15k per day. (can get it for 10k if you know someone that knows someone)

There is no real reason to go shoot on 35mm. That's just for people who want to show off. But the joke is soon going to be on them. There's a digital camera that has just come out which top hollywood directors swear is as good if not better than film. And it's cheaper than the current HDV cam. I'm actually on the waiting list for one.

Top artist spend like 600k - 800k to shoot an MTV base quality video. Anything more and your just paying for a 'name' to direct you vid.
It's really who you know. if you know camera crew or directors you can get a better deal.

Best advice i can give you is keep your idea simple for the shoot and try and be as creative as possible when editing.

TV/MoviesRe: Daniel Craige As James Bond. by waltbanger: 12:19am On Nov 20, 2007
Nah, g-rock I have to disagree with you here, my brother. Casino Royale is a hot film. That opening chase scene, man forget! You have to rememeber Casino Royale was the very first Bond story the writer, Ian flemming wrote. And in his early stories 007 was just that - A cold blooded secret service agent and assassin. The bobo has a license to kill, na beans! It was a conscious decision by the producers to make Bond more realistic and up to date, I think when The Borne Identity came out they got scared about losing their bond francise. (You should be able to notice the similarity in the style of the two films) To be fair i too didn't like the Idea of daniel Craig as Bond BUT after I saw the film I had to change my mind. The guy try!

The general rule in hollywood and the movie world is never work with Children or animals. The reason being is that they tend to use up too much of the production time on a movie to achieve what is required. In an industry like nollywood, where things need to be done 'sharp, sharp' breaking in a child actor is too much of a risk.

We just wrapped up post-production on a movie I wrote and produced, 'Half Empty, Half full'. We audition several young kids to play the role of a wisecracking pure water seller called Business Boy. But in the end sense prevailed and we eventually cast Imbrahim Musa to play the role. The guy delivered a performance and the film is all the better for it.
An actor is an actor. And as long as they can make their part believeable - it shouldn't really matter. And this not to say that young kids should not be given a chance cos that would be wrong but i think the industry needs to be more developed before we will see more filmmakers taking that risk. That's what I think.
TV/MoviesRe: 80% Of Nollywood Films Are Wack by waltbanger: 7:13pm On Nov 18, 2007
Look at for the film called 'HALF EMPTY, HALF FULL' - It's not your typical Nollywood film. It's more like a funky nolly flick. It’s a very serious comedy. It's unlike any film made in Naija. It's a little like Spike Lee’s ‘Do the right thing’ the whole film takes place in one day. The film basically pokes fun at us Nigerians and the way we see our country, the film follows a day in the life of petrol station during a period of fuel scarcity. It's also got a cool hip hop soundtrack. The Sunday vanguard just did an article on it.
