Enoughpull:Either of them will certainly pick up another yellow before then judging by their style of play and position/ role. |
If Ndidi or Onyeka collect another yellow, this game go change oooo, Chelle abeg bring in Onyedika for Onyeka now and Bashiru for Ndidi (while Onyedika becomes our CDM). Make Chelle no take this risk ooooo |
user32:Would've loved to see Onyedika again though |
daveP:One reason why the Tshabalala goal has stuck so well in people's memories and become so iconic is the choreographed celebration that followed it. These little things are what give life to tournaments. |
Only one Nigerian celebration made the list. You already know which one😁
|
BankyGee:Not cinematic enough. You barely even notice him doing that in the midst of his chaotic celebrations. The cameras don't pay special attention to it either. Maybe if he took it off in a unique ceremonious way, it would bang. Something like The Undertaker taking off his hat when he enters the ring.....you get the point. |
daveP:Talking about branding, Osimhen needs to find a signature goal celebration. A celebration you see and immediately think of Osimhen. Think Ronaldo and his siuuuu. Martins and his summersaults. Look at Ndidi's celebration. That's a clip that would be replayed for decades to come and has already made it's way into the books of naija football folklore — that's the power of branding. Mention "Rashidi Yekini", and I bet the first image that comes to your head is Yekini clutching the net, celebrating his iconic World Cup goal. Branding. Osimhen's current celebration which typically involves pointing at his teammates (or sometimes, the opponents' coach😁) or just jumping and punching the air, isn't remarkable at all. I no go lie, e dey vex me sometimes 🙄. I mean, it's nice you scored, but how about hitting a unique celebration that thrills the fans and further builds your cult of personality? |
caprikon:Since the Egypt friendly, I've been calling for Onuachu to start alongside Osimhen in attack instead of Akor. Onuachu brings superb holdup play and ball distribution and being a big target man, draws defenders to himself thereby taking pressure off Osimhen. His aerial threat also means defenders can't concentrate only on Osimhen during corners/ indirect free kicks. I hope Chelle will listen to me now. |
typicalgamer:A strike team of Dessers and Onuachu is more than enough to get us a win against Uganda |
typicalgamer:I just dey look that guy with one kind eye |
TheSuperNerd:He shouldn't have been given more than five to ten minutes at most given his injury record. Egypt didn't play Salah AT ALL in their dead rubber match. It's for a reason. |
Dele Bashiru is yet to convince me of his midfield skills. All I have seen from him so far is running and work rate. He hasn't shown that midfield control or passing skill that a good midfielder should have in my opinion. We'll see how he does today. |
TheSuperNerd:Until he gets injured and is either ruled out of the remaining games or plays with the injury like he did at the last AFCON with his abilities limited. Why not give Dessers or Onuachu a start for God's sake? Haven't we qualified? How are they supposed to feel now? |
lbrichman2:You know how easily Osimhen can get injured. Remember what happened against DRC? Why take such a stûpid risk for God's sake when we've already qualified and we have decent strikers on the bench? Even Bassey is starting. One injury to him and our tournament is pretty much over. Wetin Chelle dey smoke sef? |
Osimhen is really frustrating. Everything na quarrel and fight for him eye. Until he collect red card one day. Imagine scoring a goal and choosing that very moment to pick a fight for absolutely no reason in a crucial tournament. Wahala o. |
Bossoflife25:Chelle is not a fan of wing play it seems. From his diamond formation to this. It seems he wants to crowd the midfield to make up for our creativity issues. But wouldn't wingplay maximize Osimhen's qualities in heading? |
Joebie:Our people no wan hear that word for football. Oliseh is a traitor!😁 |
Talking about commentary and analysis, who noticed how the South African commentators immediately admitted that Mudau had fouled Salah and Egypt deserved a penalty even before the referee went for VAR? Now imagine it was Oliseh who said that in a Super Eagles match😁😁. |
Napoleon55:Lol. Some analyses wey person dey read here eh. So if we're leading 3-0, Osimhen should stay till 90 + 5 and probably get injured or get so fatigued that he is unable to give his 100% in his next game? |

kennysville:Na that no. 10 wey them give am dey pain me pass. From Okocha to Mikel to Bashiru😢. I would have preferred for Onyedika or Ndidi to wear it since Iwobi dey fear the shirt. |
Kog45:Okay. But you will agree that that decision wouldn't be based on merit (judging by the day's game performance). |
Kog45:As I noted before, Iwobi has no business in a two-man midfield except against a weak (bus packing) team. |
Mujtahida:In most football games, there is a commentator AND an analyst. They are NOT the same. Not to engage in ad hominem, but I would have expected that someone with your level of football viewing experience and knowledge would know this basic fact. Oliseh went there as an analyst, NOT as a commentator. And he did his job SUPERBLY.
|
TheGoodJoe:Good points. But I think our people are exaggerating Oliseh's shortcomings. He did mention some positives about our games. Remember how he waxed lyrical of Moses Simon as a "direct winger"? |
TheGoodJoe:Bro, He praised the team when they did well. The very term "lateral movement" which he used so often was used to praise Akor Adams' superb movements off the ball which he noted was probably a result of Adams' training in Spain. I also remember he praised the Super Eagles when they started to keep the ball in the closing stages, saying this is exactly what they needed to do since they already had the lead. As for the subs, he said that Adams was our best performing striker in the game up to that point and therefore, shouldn't have been removed except he was injured. This is correct. If Chelle wanted to put sentiment aside, Osimhen should have been taken off instead of Adams, based on their game performance. |
Nigerians no like objectiveness lailai. Oliseh provided the BEST commentary I've ever heard from any of our ex players. Complete with good and articulate English grammar and technical terms and insight. What exactly did he say that was a lie? Was our passing not slow in the beginning? Were the Tanzanians not sitting back and hitting us on the counter? Were they not dangerous from set pieces? The problem here is that unlike Amokachi and co, Oliseh decided to do his job as an unbiased professional analyst rather than a Super Eagles fan behind the microphone. A true analyst should go about his business like a Magistrate in court — even if his own brother breaks the law, the Magistrate should not hesitate to send him to jail. Unfortunately, our people don't want that, we just want a hallelujah praise singer. The bad news for everyone is, if his antecedents are anything to go by, Oliseh won't change because of the mob's noises. Get prepared to watch the rest of Nigeria's games on mute because it will be professional analysis all the way. |
TheGoodJoe:I think Oliseh has been surprisingly analytical and polished with his analysis. Majority of these ex naija players analyze games like proper beer parlor folks. |
I think Iwobi is good at passing but poor at ball recovery. His weakness isn't showing in this game because the opponent is weak. Best thing is to play Iwobi as a 10 and put two hustlers (Ndidi and Onyeka) behind him to do all the ball-winning while he concentrates on creating chances. |
Unlimited22:That and "lateral movement"😁 Reminds me of Amokachi's "sèxy penetration passes"😁 |
