Probably there was no OS on the phone or not fully install therefore making the phone to be cheap, secondly the OTA update may likely damage the phone because probably the phone in question has no rights to google software and I doubt if it has play store.

The phone has Android 8.1 OS. I checked everything. it has playstore and nothing seem wrong with it before they worked on it. only the menu I mentioned earlier.

Hello Phone Gurus.
Today I went to Mchris to get a phone. after purchase, the engineers there told me that they need to do system update.
I was like system update on top new phone? They said when they do it, the phone will now have menu and it will be updated. I checked the phone, there was actually no menu. then I told them that Android do notify users of system update, that I can download and install (OTA system update) they said that that one I'm talking about use to spoil phone. So I gave them, and they did it. True true, when they were done the phone now had menu.
Now I'm confused. I peeped at their laptop and the software they were running was W6001. The phone is itel p33 plus

Can anyone please tell me which/what update they actually did?
Also the normal update that Android use to say we should do, does it truly spoil phone?
