That nonsense of an immigrant coming to crown himself king or chief in another man's land make me angry. One day I was passing through a part of Abuja and I saw the house of our Yoruba man with the inscription Oba Yoruba of Let's say Abuja, even though I am Yoruba I was angry. That is the actual cause of the senseless killing in Jos, let the owners of the land own their chieftaincy and cultural position, if you want one go to your town and village.

These guys keep moving from country to country soiling the good name of the country.
When they get caught they want help from the same government they demonize.

I am not justifying injustice in the Ethiopian correctional facilities but. You wouldn't be in their prison if you were not going about damaging the name of our beloved country.
When you guys sit down to plan crimes, you dont involve the government, when you succeed you come and insult the government, when it doesn't work out for you, you blame the government.

We have very limited resources.
We can't keep going around spending money in foreign countries for the irresponsibilities of some people.

These people are littered in prisons all over the world for various crimes.
They have damaged our passport. Yet they are the louded when the time comes to insult the passport
that is just the point
They always justify their atrocities

Dennis Smith Okoro, a Nigerian inmate at the Kaliti prison, a maximum-security prison in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is dead.

Okoro, who hailed from Abia State, was among about 300 inmates of Nigerian descent at the Ethiopian prison facility.

He died during the week at the facility.

His death comes a few months after SaharaReporters reported on his deteriorated health condition.

Nigerian inmates in the facility told SaharaReporters that the deceased was left untreated despite paying the police to take him to the hospital.

"He was sick with a kidney problem; the sickness started here in Kaliti prison, Ethiopia, and no good treatment was given to him by officials here. We also contacted the Nigerian Embassy here to tell them what was happening, but sadly, they didn't respond on time,” one of the Nigerian inmates said.

"The Ethiopian police even requested money for his treatment, and we gave it to them, but despite this, they didn't take him for treatment.

"In the last 3 years, 4 Nigerians have died here in this Ethiopian prison. Dennis Smith Okoro's body is still here in the Ethiopian prison; we haven't heard anything from the Nigerian Embassy or the government of Nigeria."

In 2023, two Nigerians, Chizoba Eze and Uchenna Nwanneneme, died in the same Kaliti Prison following alleged physical aggression and poor medication.

In 2025, another inmate, Basil Ilobi Lawrence, who hailed from Delta State, died in the facility.

While Nwanneneme and Lawrence died of an undisclosed ailment without treatment, Eze was said to have died in the facility following alleged physical aggression.

Multiple sources had told SaharaReporters that Eze was brutalized by policemen in the facility and died from the injuries inflicted on her.

It was also alleged that her corpse was left inside the cell for over 36 hours by the prison officials who allegedly prevented other inmates from informing the Nigerian embassy about the incident.

"Nigerian woman, Chizoba Favor Eze, was brutalized to death at Kaliti Prison in Ethiopia. She died on March 12, 2023. It's so sad that the policemen killed our sister. They gave her internal injuries on her chest after brutally hitting her on the breasts, which led to her death," a source in the facility had said.

"After a week, she started feeling sick because of the result of the internal injuries she had inside her body. They took her to the hospital for the first time to receive treatment, and the doctor gave her an injection and brought her back to her room.

"The deceased started feeling weak again, and they took her to the hospital on Saturday, March 11, 2023, then they gave her the same injection, which the deceased complained bitterly about, saying the injection was not good for her body. She added that she didn't want to take any injections again, and they gave her the injection forcefully.

"On Sunday morning, she died. She died inside her room, which made the other foreigners, such as Brazilian and Venezuelan women and others, feel bad because the injection the deceased took led to her death.

"The foreigners went through the bag of the deceased and took the Nigerian embassy's telephone number to call the embassy because the deceased person's body was there with them in the room for over 36 hours. So the foreigners decided to call the embassy of Nigeria to tell them what was happening, but the policewomen did not allow them to call the embassy.”

Nnamdi Kanu will still meet Justice Omotosho at the Court of Appeal because of his promotion. He can go and tell him again that he doesn’t know the law
PoliticsNnamdi Kanu Appeals Conviction, Faults Terrorism Trial by wediehere1(op): 6:36am On Feb 05
The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has filed a notice of appeal challenging his conviction and multiple sentences imposed by the Federal High Court in Abuja, insisting that the trial was riddled with fundamental legal errors and amounted to a miscarriage of justice.

In the notice of appeal dated February 4, 2026, Kanu said he was appealing against his conviction and sentences on seven counts, including terrorism-related offences, for which he received five life sentences and additional prison terms after being found guilty on November 20, 2025.

“I, Nnamdi Kanu, the Appellant, having been convicted and sentenced… do hereby give notice of appeal against my conviction,” the document stated.

Kanu was convicted for offences including “committing an act preparatory to or in furtherance of an act of terrorism,” “making a broadcast… with intent to intimidate the population,” and “being the leader and member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a proscribed organisation in Nigeria,” among others.

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, delivered the judgment on November 20, 2025, sentencing Kanu to five life terms for terrorism-related offences, 20 years’ imprisonment for being the leader of the proscribed IPOB, and five years’ imprisonment with no option of fine for importing a radio transmitter without a licence.

In his grounds of appeal, the IPOB leader accused the trial court of failing to resolve what he described as a “foundational disruption of the original trial process” following the 2017 military operation at his Afara-Ukwu residence.

“The learned trial judge erred in law by failing to resolve the procedural and competence consequences of the foundational disruption of the original trial process in September 2017,” Kanu argued.

He also contended that the court proceeded to trial and judgment while his preliminary objection challenging the competence of the proceedings remained unresolved.

“The learned trial judge did not hear or determine the objection,” the appeal document stated, adding that judgment was delivered “while the objection remained pending and undetermined.”

Kanu further faulted the court for delivering judgment while his bail application was still pending, arguing that this affected the fairness of the trial process.

He also claimed that the trial court convicted him under a law that had already been repealed, stating that “the learned trial judge erred in law by convicting and sentencing the Appellant under the Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Act, 2013, notwithstanding its repeal by the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, prior to judgment.”

Kanu further argued that he was subjected to double jeopardy, contrary to Section 36(9) of the 1999 Constitution, after being retried on facts he said had earlier been nullified by the Court of Appeal.

He also complained that he was denied fair hearing, claiming that he was not allowed to file or present a final written address before judgment was delivered.

Among the reliefs sought, Kanu asked the Court of Appeal to allow the appeal, quash his conviction and sentences, and “discharge and acquit the Appellant in respect of all the counts.”

He also informed the appellate court of his desire to be present at the hearing of the appeal, stating, “I want to be present at the hearing of the appeal because I may be conducting the appeal in person.”

Kanu is currently being held at a correctional facility in Sokoto State, after his application to be transferred to a different facility in either Niger or Nasarawa State was denied.

The Ogun State Police Command has dismantled an organised child trafficking and illegal surrogacy syndicate operating under the guise of an orphanage.

The breakthrough was achieved by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department following the transfer of the case from Idanyin Divisional Headquarters, Agbara, to Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

During the operation, seven children were rescued, and five principal suspects were arrested. Police also uncovered a planned sale of babies at ₦1.5 million per child.

The state police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi disclosed this on Thursday in a statement released to journalists.

Babaseyi said the case began on November 28, 2025, when one Amara reported the abduction of her six-year-old son, Samuel Honesty, at Idanyin Divisional Headquarters.

“Preliminary investigations led to the arrest and prosecution of Chioma Honest and Praise Honesty for suspected foul play,” he said.

He added that the case was later transferred to SCID for further investigation. On January 21, 2026, the abducted child was dropped at Gowon Police Station in Lagos State, where he revealed he had been taken to Joyful Kids Orphanage, Badagry, and identified Madam Joy as the operator.

Babaseyi said, “Acting on this intelligence, operatives conducted a coordinated operation at the orphanage, rescuing six additional children, bringing the total number of rescued minors to seven.

“The rescued children include Ramsey Chiedozie (8 years), Rafael Rofiu (6 years), Kazeem Chiedozie (6 years), Segun Uthman (9 years), Ola Abdulhakeem Abdulrasheed (9 years), David Oyelese (9 years), and Samuel Honesty (6 years).)

“We wish to emphasise that Samuel Honesty has been safely and happily reunited with his mother, Amara, bringing closure to a traumatic experience and restoring the family unit.

“During the operation, two pregnant young women, Tanimola Martins (18 years) and Favour Martins (18 years), were discovered within the facility. They confessed that they were recruited to carry pregnancies with the intention of selling their babies to pre-arranged buyers upon delivery, at a fee of ₦1.5 million per child, facilitated by the orphanage operator.”

The police said the principal suspect, Joy Chiedozie (36 years), also known as Madam Joy, allegedly confessed to purchasing the abducted child for ₦1.5 million. She reportedly paid ₦900,000 in cash and ₦600,000 via bank transfer to a woman known as Kelly before selling the child to one Mr Emmanuel, who is currently at large.

Further investigations revealed that Yusuf Adebowale (31 years), the orphanage driver, acted as an uncertified surrogate agent, facilitating illegal surrogacy arrangements and connecting pregnant girls with prospective buyers.

Other suspects arrested include Martins Favour (18 years), Tanimola Martins (18 years), and Rachael Chiedozie (16 years).

The six other rescued children have been formally handed over to the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development for protective custody, welfare assessment, and family tracing.

Babaseyi said investigations are ongoing to apprehend Mr Emmanuel and other buyers in the trafficking network, trace Kelly and the financial transactions, identify additional victims and accomplices, and dismantle the wider child trafficking syndicate.

The state police command reiterated its zero tolerance for child trafficking, illegal adoption, and exploitation of vulnerable children and young women. It urged members of the public to report suspicious orphanage operations, illegal adoption practices, and human trafficking activities to the nearest police station.

The command said it remains committed to safeguarding lives, protecting vulnerable citizens, and upholding the rule of law.
