Q:Who was sponsoring u then? = My uncle
Q:what does he do? = works with exxonmobil
Q:Who is sponsoring u now?=My father
Q:Why was your father not sponsoring u then? =My sister was in UK for her Master's then so my father decline n told me to wait till 2009(he smiled)
Q:wat does your father do?= i told him
Q:Wat does your sister do? = she works with popsy
Q:why r u not working with your dad? =cos i am not a business person.I am a technical person that believes in using numerical methods to solve technical problems besides his business is of no importance to my course of study(at this tym he looked @my work ID card which i hung around my neck)
Q:so u work with bank XYZ ?=yes.(he thoroughly checked my dad's statement and reference letter frm him)
Q:hw long hv u been working here? =over 3yrs(I showd him a recommendation letter frm my employer stating my salary n payslips attached)
Q:Does your present job relate to wat u wanna go and study? =yes; Q:Wats your role?= Electrical n computer network technician
Q:What r your job functions? = I explained 2 him in details n believe me pple,he took his time to listen(at this point,we turned it into discussion n i was shocked)
Q:Are u going 2 come back home?=Sure I will for my NYSC so i can actively participate in politics n hold a political post cos i want to work for d FGN.(he nodded n smiled)
Q:Has your father ever travelled?= No; Q:Why?= cos he can't leave his business for anywhere n he always want to be with us.
Q:Do u hv anybody in US?=No ; Q:Are u sure ?=Yes : Q:Not even a cousin,friend,girlfriend or anybody? =I hv no one.If i have its a pride to me
Q:But I can c your name here dat some1 listed u as a cousin(At this point i was scared but still stood my ground)=Nope not me perhaps some1 else n a mistaken Identity.B4 i can believe u can i see d pix of d person bearing my name if it looks like me?(he laughed n said u r nt serious).Its ok.
  at this point,he type somethin and click. then he turn to me and ask
Q:I can see u hav $4000 scholarship?=Yes; Q:y were u given? = Cos of my academic performance while in Yabatech.(He checked my SSCE and ND results thoroughly.He smiled)
Q:Can u pls explain to me d difference btw a transformer and a regulator?  (I was amazed cos I wasnt expectin this @all).I pieces d thing for am and even drew diagrams for him dat he was so impressed.After that,he typed again and click something then he scrolled down(perhaps he checked my scores maybe i qualify).
  finally he said,"Ok sir,u hv really proved to me dat u r qualified to study in USA.Go 2 dis address to pick up your visa on Monday.we wish u safe trip to US and make sure u make your dad proud.[/b]

  That was it, Other consulars have interviewed 3pple while i was doing mine  which lasted for like 10mins.I no believe @ all 

This is what i call getting your visa the hard way men it is not easy, but we were prepared for this in NL, Who is next,

wat u need to do first is to search for a sch of your choice that offer a program of your choice then apply by first sending the sch an email abt admission enquiry then wait for their response.I hope u r ready to incur expenses with wat u r planning to do? no be just by mouth oo u will spend some money [/[color=#990000][/color]b]

I will advice you to read all the post from the begining to the en and you will not have any questions to ask regearding student visa. All the informations has been delt with previously in this forum so just read all the post from 1- the end and you will be fine.

[/quote]I really admire your replies you have things in mind and i would love to board the same plane with you. when are you planning to leave naija, also would appreciate if we jist over the phone before then. You are also right my mum is filling for me would change my status some month after i get there. but guys i saw a lot of denials because of age and so many factors we treated on Nairaland so if you have anybody that wants to travel with a student visa should read all the post here and i think the person is 90% good for the embassy, the only 10% is for confidence to face the consular.

My fellow Nairalanders i am very excited to post this message today, because i was granted a visa yesterday with some few questions which we duly handled here very effectively. So i want to thank everybody for their contributions and support in this forum you guys are one of a kind. thanks

consular: good, So why do you what to go to the US
me : to study
consular: which school and course
me:told her
consular:how long do you wish to stay

consular: which schools did you apply to aside form this school
me: University of Minnesota Moorhead, Howard University in Washignton, Southwestern University.
consular: why this school
me: so i would make my voice heard cos its a small school and i have started online classes with them for the fall semester just as if i want to go back to my school.
consular: she nodded impressively,  how many classes online are you taking and can you list them
me: sure, i am offering 2
consular: who is going to pay
me : told her
consular:can i have his bank statements
slipped it to her
she nodded her head again typing the computer in front of her my heart was pounding hard cos of i encountered to many denials even two 80 year old
consular: do wish to have roomates
me: i smiled and said yes
consular: smiled,    how many course would you take now that you have offered 2 this fall semester
me: 6
after almost 2 minutes 20 seconds of typing she gave me the green card and a typed document containing the vfs address for visa pick up, she took my i-20 and sevis receipt  saying you will need this at the port of entry, keep it well and i said thanks and have a lovely day.

My people this interview can be more than 5 minutes sometimes be ready to answer anything but she did not ask me what i thought she will ask me like my SAT result and my mother in the states, so i had answers to all her questions and please be articulate,but it does not mean other consular wont ask so guys keep you head up and i thank you all once again and the almighty God,  ciao.

Why must we go back to the same things we talked about, this forum is educative not someones bed room we can make it a family thing if we want and make good points now i see why Phuck NL is they way he was. Well its all good we need to deal with this.

I have to say i am impressed, you got a very good portfolio and fluent from what i saw in your post. don't they check your informations i mean the other form you fill like the i-165 and the others.

Guys i feel he did not deserve it when paired with the people that has won this prize previously, even his fellow country men and predecessors.
But this award was just a work load given to him to perform well during his tenure ans to regain his confidence in world peace. when we look at the people he was paired with, they have not storm the world by surprise like him but now he got his works cut out for him or else go down as one of the worst Nobel peace prize winner.

You have a very good point about squashing the beef but i expect Phunk NL, to advice people in a more polite way because i do not see what it takes to do that. A very good example are people like gongo_so and A_town and so many others.
We had good stories to tell at the end of the day we should just try to be matured even if our ages try to break us, people are not here to see beef like these rather to acquire knowledge, you may think you know much but were your knowledge stops that is were another person starts from.

Guy you need to get your bearings right, you are really all over the place, stop looking for schools with low tuition now why not work hard like Phunk NL to get a scholarship last time i checked you have not written your SAT.

Lets be optimistic, you might get a date but if we are to be a realist, my bro it is going to be difficult for you to get a date before your spring semester because of the season, that is for Lagos, but if you decide to set an appointment for Abuja you might get a date just make sure you do when you get the package.

We should try to take this forum for what it is not we want it to be. If you got any of the required exams like SAT or TOEFL, and your official transcript , good statement of account and nice WAEC result, just apply to University of Minnesota Crookston, if you need help holla me on my messenger but we need to post comments here for future reference so people can learn from us. but holla me for me infos on wems002, that is if you got this result please don't ask questions that are not necessary and if it clear to you lets post on Nairaland but i am just putting my IM in case i am not online here. Yea i have, i was suppose to go the embassy for like early this month for the fall semester but i did not make the SEVIS fee so i deffered my admission till the spring semster January 2010. meanwhile i am in class now online studies of the same school i was adviced to do online school before i get on campus. so i wont be wasting my time doing nothing.

I had that problem also. it depends on the browser you are using if your using monzila switch to explorer or if thats not the problem then you would have to put only 1 zip code for example my own schools zips are 55716-55717, instead of putting both zip codes put the first one. try that and lets see what happens. because something similar happened to me and everything on the zip code colum should be in numerics, no E.G -?)>.

I really appreciate what am seeing here and all sucesssful interview,I have already for 2 time at the lagos and they denied me that i cannot convice her and i have another appointed on the 20th of this month and the school is resuming on the 31st of august,please i need more advise on what to do when i appear at the embassy because am total confused.

I would advice you to cancel your interview and deffer your admission because they might not give you because of the time range, and orientation must have been over before you get there, they are humans they also travel and know stress of packing up. the only thing that can suggest is, if you can or have booked your ticket and make that fact clear when you are with the consular and show your eagerness.
