The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has frozen Patience Jonathan’s personal account, titled ‘Patience Ibifaka Jonathan’, which is domiciled in Skye Bank Plc. Impeccable sources within the agency told our correspondent on Wednesday that the move had become necessary due to the prima facie case established against the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife. As part of investigations into alleged diversion against a former Special Adviser to ex-President Jonathan on Domestic Affairs, Waripamowei Dudafa, the anti-graft agency had frozen four companies’ accounts in Skye Bank with a balance of $15,591,700. However, before the EFCC could arraign the four companies in court, Jonathan’s wife deposed to an affidavit, claiming that the money belonged to her. Despite Patience’s claims, however, the EFCC arraigned the four companies –Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited; and Globus Integrated Service Limited. The companies pleaded guilty and the EFCC had already begun moves to ensure that the money is forfeited permanently to the Federal Government. , “Recall that we had frozen the four companies’ accounts, which Patience Jonathan later laid claim to. We have been able to establish that the money was part of proceeds of crime. “She had no evidence that the money in the four accounts belonged to her. All she had were platinum debit cards, which she was using to withdraw money and the cards are not evidence of ownership. “Initially, we had traced $5m to her personal account, which we did not touch but I can confirm to you now that the $5m account, bearing Patience Jonathan’s name, has also been seized since she claimed that the monies in the company accounts and the one in her personal name all emanated from the same source. “We are tracing other accounts belonging to Patience. It will interest you to know that despite all the letters she has written, she has never stated where she got the money from. She claimed to be a housewife and yet she has $20m.” Patience had recently written a letter to the acting Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, where she claimed that she needed the money for her medical treatment abroad. She had also sued Skye Bank for N200m, accusing the bank of freezing her accounts unjustly. In a letter written by her lawyers, Granville Abibo (SAN) and Co, Patience said, “It is noteworthy to emphasise that the said accounts, which were in US dollar denomination, were card-based accounts and our client is the sole signatory of these accounts. “The said bank officials also assured our client that they will change the account names accordingly and issue to our client new credit cards for the said accounts which was not done despite repeated demands. “However, our client has been operating the said accounts using the cards for her medical bill payments and purchases for her private purposes without any let or hindrance. “Our client was therefore surprised when the said cards stopped functioning on July 7, 2016 or thereabout. Our client immediately thereupon contacted Skye Bank Plc through our solicitors. It was only then that the bank officials informed our client that the said accounts were placed on a ‘No Debit Order’ following investigations and instructions from your commission and this is without notice to our client by either the bank or the commission. “It is in the light of the foregoing that we urge you to use your good offices to vacate the ‘No Debit/Freezing Order’ placed on the said accounts.” SOURCE:http://9ijaclicks..com.ng/2016/09/patience-jonathan-5m-dollar-account.html |
The Highest used word now in Nigeria is the word "CHANGE" is averagely used about 3.7 Billion times a day in statements made by, Teachers, students Market women, Politicians, civil servants, police, Army, Area boys and even Children & Todlers now learn it as their first word instead of NEPA. Although my concern is, the meaning has been Change to SUFFERING. If some one is Hungry he will say is change, if some is trecking from calabar south to 8 miles he will say is change. If Landlord evict you is the landlord that will tell you is change, No Job & you will rather hear is change. And etc. Abeg define change for me cus am getting confuse now. If Nigeria can Export the word change we will make more money from it than crude oil even if we sell 30 Naira per Barrell. I just keep wondering if this happened in Africa how CNN and other Western media outlets would have painted us. I have been following the campaigns thus far and it seems "they" have even committed every "crime" they usually accuse us of committing in our politics. Is the west holding us to a standard they can't even uphold? Are they systematically making us feel inferior? SOURCE:http://9ijaclicks..com.ng

Stunned surgeons in India have removed 40 metal knives from a patient who had an ‘uncontrollable urge’ to eat the cutlery. The 42-year-old, whose real name was not published, received emergency treatment at a hospital in Gurdaspur, a city in the North India state of Punjab, after complaining of abdomen pain and weakness A team of surgeons were astonished when they discovered he had swallowed dozens of knives over the last two months because 'he liked the way they tasted', Barcroft Media reports. SOURCE:http://9ijaclicks..com.ng/2016/08/doctors-removes-40-knives-from-mans.html Dr Jitinder Malhotra, managing director of the hospital, described it as the most shocking case he had seen in his 20-year career. “When we began the diagnosis, we found the cause of the pain puzzling. We did an ultrasound, which revealed some solid mass in his stomach, shaped like cancer,” he said. “The patient then told us he had an uncontrollable urge to eat knives. What is astonishing is that he had been eating knives [(for) the past two months. “This was very unnerving, I have not witnessed something like this in my career as a doctor. After five hours of surgery, the patient was successfully treated and is set to be discharged in the next few days. SOURCE:http://9ijaclicks..com.ng/2016/08/doctors-removes-40-knives-from-mans.html

Gully erosion measuring over 10 metres at the extension site of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State is now threatening about N8 billion worth of structures in the area. This was contained in a statement by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Obini Onuchukwu, and made available to newsmen in Awka. Onuchukwu said the erosion was an extension of the serious Agulu/Nanka erosion site, which has become a menace to the people of the area. He noted that the entire run-off from the institution and some parts of surrounding communities, including Amaokpala, was being emptied into the gully, which had taken over a hectare within the polytechnic. He said it had become imperative for the Federal and Anambra State Governments, corporate bodies and wealthy individuals to intervene so as to save the structures from imminent collapse. Obini noted that the campus extension site was where the institution was building most of its structures, including the Virtual Library, the biggest in the South East zone of the country. According to him, other structures that could be affected are the 1,500 capacity Lecture Theatre, Engineering Building, Science Laboratory Technology Building and Entrepreneurship Development Centre. He said others are Skills Acquisition Centre, Dr. Alex Ekwueme Resource Centre, Chinese language/Cultural Centre and Continuing Education Programme Building. They also include Fine and Applied Art Building, Public Administration Building, Food Technology Building, PTDF building, 1,500 capacity auditorium and an office block. SOURCE:http://9ijaclicks..com.ng/2016/08/gully-errosion-battles-structure-worth.html The PRO expressed dismay at the continued rapid expansion of the erosion site and rued its possible devastating effects, if nothing was done urgently. Obini said the institution had written to the Ministry of the Environment on the matter with full explanation and also designed drawing of the proposed ecological control, but yet to receive any help. He said: “It will be heart breaking, very disheartening if all these sacrifices are allowed to be swept off by erosion, there is absolute need for all and sundry to come to the aid of the institution to salvage the situation. “So far, the institution has sunk so much money from its Internal Generated Revenue in battling with the natural disaster. “Huge amount of money had been spent within the gully axis to check its continuous depression that had collapsed the perimeter fencing some years back. “So far the institution has rebuilt the collapsed perimeter fencing, built long stretch of cement road with long depth of drainage system, with catchment pits to break speed of flood within the campus.” SOURCE:http://9ijaclicks..com.ng/2016/08/gully-errosion-battles-structure-worth.html |
Tragedy struck on Monday in Jenta Adamu in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State when a retired Assistant Superintendent of Police, Anthony Kwanmi, and three of his children were burnt to death in an early morning fire that engulfed his house. However, his wife and one of his children were lucky, as they escaped with burns. The survivors were admitted at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital (Jankwano), Jos, where they were receiving treatment. It was learnt that Kwanmi hailed from the Shendam LGA and recently retired from the police force. An eyewitness said the deceased, who was a former aide-de-camp to ex-civilian governor of the state, Mr. Fidelis Tapgun, was burnt to death together with his children. The witness, who did not want to be identified, said the fire started after an electric spark from a meter in the house. He said, “The meter was mounted at the entrance to the building. There was a spark from the meter which started the fire. Because the meter was at the entrance, the fire prevented them from escaping. It quickly spread to other rooms in the house.” Our correspondent gathered that Kwanmi and his children went to bed and locked their doors at about 2.30am after watching a football match between Nigeria and Sweden in the ongoing Olympics Competition in Rio, Brazil. However, neighbours were woken up by the cries for help from the children, who were sleeping in a room close to their father’s. Kwanmi reportedly made spirited efforts to open the door and free himself and the children, but the thick smoke billowing from the fire prevented him. SOURCE:http://9ijaclicks..com.ng/2016/08/former-plateau-state-govs-adc-four.html It was learnt that their charred remains were removed by neighbours, who had to break down the walls of the house to gain entry. When our correspondent visited the house, all the rooms were in ruins. PUNCH Metro saw a blanket, which the retired cop reportedly used to cover his nose while attempting to rescue his children. The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tyopev Terna, confirmed the incident. He said, “The ‘A’ Division of the state police command got a call around 3am on Monday and we responded to the distress call. Officials of the state fire service were also mobilised to the burning building; they assisted in putting out the fire. “The retired police officer and three of his children lost their lives, while his wife and one family member are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.” SOURCE:http://9ijaclicks..com.ng/2016/08/former-plateau-state-govs-adc-four.html |
