Being conscious of what we do means that there is clarity. Our preparations and arrangements work better and faster if they are planned.

But what are the basic things that require planning? Going to work, party, Church, Mosque and other activities. We all need to plan for these activities.

But what do we do the most in life? How many times do we eat in a day and how many times do we spend money in a day? Have you ever asked yourself this question? How many times do you spend money in a day? If you spend money more times than you can remember, then you are supposed to plan your spending.

People don't take note of these because they have the idea that more money will come in. But money saved is money earned. Planning your expenses helps you save money and everyone need to keep track of spending and budget.

I've seen people plan their spending but they do it with pen and paper. What if there is an app that can do it better? There is an app called Desir. You can use it to plan your expenses and budgets. You can also use it to create shopping lists. It's a wonderful app. I use it everyday.

The story of a local shopper

My name is Joseph and I’m a computer programmer. More than a year ago, I travelled to Benue state for my National Youth Service Corp program. After my deployment, I decided to rent a place to stay.

I only went with my clothes so I needed to do a little shopping. The first day that I went to the market, I purchased food stuff and cooking utensils because feeding is the most important. I didn’t go to the market with a shopping list. When I came back, I had this feeling that there is something that I forgot to buy. I even bought something that I didn’t plan to buy initially just because I had plenty money in my pocket.

That was when I started writing a list of items that I want to purchase before going to market. It helped me a lot when it comes to saving money, sticking to a budget and making better decisions. But it was a bit rusty because if I have a long list of items to purchase, I will need to go with a pen. I can then use the pen to mark the purchased items.

I discovered that whenever I go the market, I go with my smart phone. My smart phone has become so important to me that whenever I’m not with it, I feel like I’m missing out on something. So I said to myself, what if I can leave the pen and paper at home and go to the market with my smart phone. As long as I have an app in my phone that can do the same work for me.

As a computer programmer, I started working on this idea. Two months later, I finished the first version. The first day that I used the app, I was so excited because I knew how much to spend and what to spend it on. I didn’t need to carry a pen and a paper. No need to cancel and make corrections. I can always make the corrections using the app. Also the app calculates the prices for me and I was two times faster than I used to whenever I’m shopping.

I decided to name the app Desir. It was difficult coming up with a unique name so I just decided to stick with Desir.
Desir is an app that helps you create shopping lists fast and easy using your mobile phone instead of writing it down on paper. For now Desir is only available for android. My team and I are working on the version for iphone users.

Desir is the best app I have ever used and we Nigerians should embrace it. Take a look at Google, Facebook and Apple. These are companies that started with nothing and now, they are the world’s most valued companies. Now they have made America a greater nation.

This app have made my life easier and better. I believe it can do the same for you.
