caste system is actually the varna system, the word 'caste system' was introduced by the Britishers when they occupied india.

varna system was introduced thousands of years ago , when the rest of the world was eating lice off their heads and still figuring what to do except hunt eat and sleep.

varna system was an attempt to create order and delegate responsibilities according to capabilities , so that knowledge was not lost and passed down generation.

the important thing was it was based on the merit of the person , but not on his ancestry.

but after the islamic invasion of india this varna system got modified aka resorted to desperate measures for desperate times.
since millions of people were being killed or converted to muslims , the people then made the varna system heredity in a last ditch attempt to preserve the knowledge and way of the past.

good and bad people always co exist side by side , but in the end all matters who triumphed, indian culture/tradition survived and triumphed, even though it faced a massive genocide.
can the same be said of other countries / civilizations who left their ancient traditions/cultures to accept islamic/christian, traditions/culture wholly or partially.

in modern india caste system has no place since it has been taken over by democratic system , but some elements r still followed as part of best practices ,
eg. the gotra system ( gotra means "lineage" ) It broadly refers to people who are descendants in an unbroken male line from a common male ancestor or patriline.
marriage between 2 similar gotras is forbidden inorder to rule out genetically inherited diseases and improve quality of offsprings by encouraging marriage between people of totally dissimilar genetic background. it is interesting because genetics is a modern understanding but people in ancient times understood this and made it part of the culture / tradition.

if ur stupid enough to think that caste system is still followed in india then tell me kshatriya class is for warriors only but indian armed forces+ paramilitary +police etc number 4+ million only so rest of the kshatriya class who comprise 30%+ of the 1+ billion is doing what than ?
