WHAT NEXT AFTER SEEING YOUR UTME RESULT: STEPS TO ADMISSION SUCCESS

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s 2023 UTME examination has come and gone. By now, all candidates already know their scores. So, what next? For candidates who got scores lower than they expected, this is not the end of the road for you. If you excelled in the recent JAMB/UTME 2023 examination, there is more ahead of you to conquer. In this article, I will walk you through four keynote points you could follow to secure admission to the school of your choice this year regardless of your UTME score.

1. Know the cut-off marks for your course of choice.
You must first do this once you receive your UTME score. There are two categories of cut-off marks:

– The General cut-off mark: The general cut-off mark is the least score required of you before you can be considered for admission into your school of choice. This score will determine whether you qualify for your school’s screening or Post UTME if there is any. The general cut-off mark for schools rarely changes, so, find out now if your score is high enough to secure consideration for admission into your school and course of choice.

– Departmental cut-off mark: For every admitting department in your prospective institution of studies, there is a cut-off mark. This is the minimum score that must be obtained by a candidate before being considered for admission into the department. Usually, this cut-off mark is not announced until the school calls for an admission screening exercise.

You do not have to wait until then to know what to do. Find out about your department’s previous cut-off marks. With this information, you can know what your chances are. If your score stands high above the two categories of cut-off points, you may stand a chance for admission into the school.

2. If your score falls short of the cut-off marks, consider a change of course or school immediately.
Perhaps if your score is lower than the cut-off marks, you should consider getting a change of course and institution form. Be sure to run a detailed check on the institution you wish to change to. Make sure to only switch to a course that aligns with the subject combinations you wrote in the UTME. Visit the official JAMB website for details.

3. Sign Up For Tutorials to Write JUPEB or IJMB
There are other ways to gain admission into the university. Gone are the days when your UTME score seals your fate. If you failed the UTME, or you believe you did not secure a perfect score for your course of choice, your next line of action may be to register for IJMB or JUPEB.

– JUPEB (Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board) is an approved examination body saddled with the conduct of examinations for candidates seeking direct entry admissions into university courses at the 200 level in Nigerian and partnering foreign universities. JUPEB certificate is recognized in more than 60% of Nigerian universities, including federal, state, and private universities.

– The IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board) Examination qualifies candidates for admission into many universities in Nigeria and overseas. The IJMB examination grants students direct entry admission into 200 Level in 100+ Nigerian universities. In addition, the IJMB syllabus aligns with international standards for education and is therefore recognized by various universities overseas.

Education / UTME 2023 Update: JAMB Extends Registration By A Week by widarich: 12:02pm On Feb 18, 2023
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) 2023 registration exercise by one week, beginning from Wednesday, the 15th day of February, and till Wednesday February 22nd 2023. Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Board’s Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, made the announcement on Wednesday, the 15th day of February, 2023. According to him, sale of ePINs will now end on Monday 20th February 2023, while registration will end on Wednesday February 22, 2023. At the formal close of ePIN sales on February 14 2023, the total number of registered UTME candidates were 1,527,068. This number includes 168,748 individuals who expressed interest in the Mock examination.

In a statement released by the Board’s Public Affairs and Protocol head, this decision was a proactive response to the difficulties experienced by many Nigerians in using cash and electronic channels for purchasing JAMB ePINs. Also, JAMB expanded her capacity to register up to a hundred thousand candidates in a single day. Therefore, with this extension, all intending UTME 2023 candidates should be able to register within a few days.

Let’s recall that the Board’s schedule, announced earlier this year, had 2023 UTME registration closing date fixed for the 14th day of February 2023. Though Professor Is-haq Oloyede, the JAMB Registrar, had earlier said JAMB was not considering an extension of the 2023 UTME registration exercise, he had to bow to the extant pressure because a large number of candidates turning out for the registration exercise.

Education / JAMB UTME 2023 – The Ultimate Guide To Success by widarich: 6:33pm On Jan 20, 2023
On Tuesday, 20th of December 2022, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced that the 2023 UTME registration exercise would span four weeks, beginning from the 14th of January to the 14th of February 2023. The mock UTME test will be on 3rd of March, while the 2023 JAMB/UTME examination will be between the 29th of April and the 12th of May 2023.
As you prepare for the exam, let me walk you through 5 noteworthy points you can use to ace the UTME. If you do well to abide by them, I guarantee your success in JAMB/UTME 2023, regardless of where you are in your preparation.

1. Conduct some self-assessment
As a student preparing to write the upcoming 2023 Jamb/UTME exam, I will encourage you to begin first by determining your level of preparedness. The last thing you want is to think you are good enough for the exams only to be disappointed in the examination hall.
Pick up a model computer-based test, and work through the exercises. How did it go? In what areas do you feel you need help? Are you able to finish within the allotted time?
If you think you could use some help, you should enrol in UTME preparatory classes.

2. Enrol in Widarich Educational Services JAMB/UTME preparatory classes
Do not wait a bit. If, from your evaluations, you figure you could use some help, take advantage of the Widarich Educational Services JAMB/UTME preparatory classes for at least three months before your Jamb/UTME examination.

3. Study past questions like your success depends on it (technically, it does)
This truth cannot be over-emphasized. You have to study Jamb/UTME past questions. How do you learn to drive? By driving. By studying Jamb/UTME past questions from years past, you would become acquainted with the JAMB/UTME question patterns. Also, you may come across some likely questions in the upcoming 2023 JAMB/UTME examination. So, start right now. Walk up to Widarich Educational Services and get a compilation of past questions in all subjects.

4. Have a routine
Think about it. We just returned from the holidays, which means no one has been reading for long hours in the past few weeks, right? But now, an examination that bears so much on your future stares you in the face. The challenge is you have just three months to prepare for it. Don’t you think it’s time to sit up? Spend more time studying than having fun. Prioritize academic activities for the next couple of months.
Here is the truth, what you do now and the time you write the upcoming 2023 UTME examination may determine the course of your life for decades to come. To excel in JAMB/UTME, you must have a routine and abide by it. Budget time just as you would money. Be sure to spend not less than 8 hours a day preparing for your papers.

5. Get your choices right
The place of counselling can never be over-emphasized. I had this point as the last on my list, but it is the most vital. You can avoid a lot of back-and-forth in your academic pursuit by seeking counsel from professionals in the field. Widarich Educational Services offer guidance and counselling sessions. Please, seek guidance.

CONCLUSION
At Widarich Educational Services, we have capable and certified instructors/tutors ready to direct and impact quality knowledge to students who would partake in the JAMB/UTME preparatory class.
