An Idi-Ogungun Customary Court at Agodi in Ibadan, has dissolved a 12 year old marriage between a 36-year-old woman, Raliat Ajila, and her husband, Sola Ajila over sex denial for three years.

Raliat told the court that her husband with whom she had two kids, abandoned her in a rented apartment and relocated to his newly completed house with another woman.

According to her, trouble started seven years ago when she noticed that the defendant was having extra marital affairs.



“I caught him with three women on different occasions and this made us quarrel always.

“There was a time he was infected with STDs and urinated blood but I stood with him and healed him of the disease.

“He had refused to sleep with me since 2015 and all efforts to make him perform his conjugal role failed.

“Instead he married another woman and relocated with his new wife to his newly completed house.”

In his defence, Ajila, said he deliberately denied her sex because of her bad attitude, stressing that Raliat was in always cursing him and that he lost his job because of the curses.

Ajila, who confirmed marrying another wife and relocating to his new house, asked the court to uphold the request of his wife and dissolve the marriage because he was not ready to continue with the union.

The President of the court, Chief Mukaila Balogun, held that both parties had consented to the dissolution of their union.

“Evidence of the estranged couple has proven that both were tired of the marriage and the court has no option than to do what they requested.

“The marriage is therefore dissolved and parties are free to go their separate ways without any molestation.” Balogun ruled.

He directed the defendant to pay N7, 000 as monthly upkeep allowance for the children.

Balogun, however, ordered Ajila to be responsible for the children education and other needs.

Phil points out if you look at what has happened in the market with voice-operated personal assistants, he thinks it’s about to go mainstream. “Alexa (and her Google and Apple chums) is much smarter than a toy but not quite a tool yet,” but she’s getting there. Looking at how we’ve gone from not having anything like this to having so much of it in such a short time, he thinks “we’re going to see a mind-boggling array of much more obvious and powerful AI tools in the home over the next year.”

If we’re talking about smart digital assistants, Alex figures advances are inevitable, yet he also thinks Google Home and Alexa are already fairly mainstream and in a surprisingly high number of homes. He hopes Apple will work more on expanding Siri’s functionality in the new Home Pod, “driving Google and Amazon to continue to improve their digital assistant products.” But the AI that’s involved in self-driving cars, he figures, is still a long way off.

Kenneth believes “AI has entered its golden age and is making big strides like never before.” He points to the world of robots and AI-based chatbots, believing it’s “not around the corner – it’s right here,” and an everyday reality in many industries. From finance and customer service to healthcare and manufacturing, all have entered the world of AI and are moving now towards Android and iOS apps, making smartphones smarter.



Ada doesn’t think we’ll see robots everywhere in 2018, so if this is the definition of “AI,” she doesn’t believe it will be mainstream for a decade or so. We’ll see more and more AI for sure, but not with that big of a leap in 2018.

Fabio thinks 2018 “will be just another year where AI will still get some fine-tuning,” but he doesn’t think anything really huge is going to happen.

As far as AI is concerned, Miguel doesn’t foresee anything game-changing, “but research will help push new products into the market and refine the ability of software to recognize things like our speech and expressions.” Like Kenneth, he believes our devices are going to get smarter. He also believes we’ll see “more back-end work, like better big data analysis, that will lead to smarter recommendations for users.” It won’t affect people directly, though.

Ryan is doubtful that we’ll see any practical application for AI in a regular person’s everyday life. “Even if there were useful ways to implement it, AI would need to be integrated into our lives gradually over time,” in order for people to know how to use it as well as not be “freaked out” by it.

I have to admit that one of my favorite cartoons when I was growing up was “The Jetsons,” so I’ve been looking forward to an AI world within the home. That cartoon always fascinated me. However, I don’t think we’re quite there yet in many areas, but I do think we’ve surpassed some of those ideas in many ways. I know it’s silly, but that’s my barometer. When I can program a machine to make a full dinner in a matter of minutes, I will know that we have arrived.

A 20-year old has been murdered by her uncle.

According to reports, Celine Dookhran, was raped and murdered by her “obsessed” uncle before dumping her corpse in a deep freezer, a court heard.

Dookhran, was kidnapped with another woman by Mujahid Arshid, 33, and his employee Vincent Tappu, 28,to a six-bedroom house that Arshid, works at.



It is at the building they were all raped and had their throats cut in what prosecutors described as a “horrific crime” on July 19, 2017.

Claims have it that Arshid thought of dissolving the bodies in acid or hiding them in a chest-high freezer he had installed two days before.

The second woman however survived and raised the alarm from hospital, leading to the discovery of Miss Dookhran’s body.

Crispin Aylett QC speaking in court warned jurors:

The evidence that gives rise to those charges is, I am afraid, simply horrific. You will have to steel yourselves for what is to come.



Mr. Aylett told the court that Arshid had become “obsessed” with Miss Dookhran but couldn’t speak with her due to her sexual relationship with her boyfriend, a Libyan Muslim.

Upon realising he couldn’t have her, he decided to kidnap her.

The family had held a meeting meeting a night earlier which saw Arshid in attendance. Arshid, had attended armed with an axe – the meeting was held to urge Celine to end her relationship, and marry a Pakistani, not a Libyan, the prosecutor told the court.

The following day, on July 19, Arshid and his accomplice Tappu kidnapped Celine and the other woman.



He allegedly took the second victim upstairs and raped her, before coming back for Miss Dookhran.

Mr. Aylett said:

In the bathroom of that house, he cut Celine’s throat, most likely with the lock knife.

“With her mouth still stuffed with a sock, Celine died from the combined effect of the restriction of her airwaves and the blood that she lost.”

The court heard Arshid then took the second woman, in her 20s, upstairs and cut her throat, telling her she would be ”dead within 10 minutes.”

Arshid, was arrested the same night in Folkestone, Kent, where he had fled to.

He denies murder, attempted murder, two counts of kidnap, two counts of rape, two counts of conspiracy to falsely imprison another, possessing a firearm with intent – a Taser.

He also denies one count of sexual assault, and one count of assault by penetration, involving the second woman between November 2008 and November 2010.

Tappu, of Acton, west London, denies two counts of kidnap, two counts of conspiracy to falsely imprison another, and one count of possessing a firearm with intent.

The trial continues.

An alligator and a Burmese python were locked in a cold-blooded battle to the death as a crowd watched in shock at a golf course in Naples, Fla., last week.

Richard Nadler spotted the gator entwined with the large snake just outside the 10th hole at The Golf Club at Fiddler’s Creek. Both creatures were perfectly still, but it appeared the gator had the head of the snake in its mouth.

“The alligator seems to have the upper hand,” Nadler commented after sharing pictures of the hair-raising scene on Facebook.



Carolyn Maxim, who also came across the sight, agreed with Nadler’s prediction.

“It’s like a zoo here!!!!” Maxim posted on Facebook. “Looks like he got one of those big pythons.”

A Burmese python, which can grow up to 26 feet long and weigh up to 200 pounds, uses its crushing grip to squeeze large mammals, birds and reptiles to death. In Florida, the average size of a Burmese python is 8 to 10 feet, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

In comparison, female alligators in Florida typically measure below 10 feet in length, but males can grow much larger, the FWC reports. Gators are opportunistic feeders, hunting for prey that are easily accessible.

Wildlife officials said they can’t draw a conclusion from photos alone – but if they had to pick a side, they’d be “team alligator.”

“Which species is ultimately the prey or predator will vary from (sic) situation depending on a variety of factors including the overall size of each animal,” Brian Norris, public information officer with the FWC, told Fox News. “However we are encouraged by the prospect of a native Florida alligator consuming an invasive Burmese python.”

Burmese pythons are not native to Florida and pose a significant risk to native wildlife and the ecosystem, Norris explained.

“But both of these animals are large predators and the FWC recommends keeping a safe distance from either species,” Norris advised.

The troops of 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have killed two militants and the second-in-command to a suspected kidnap kingpin, Akaninyene Jumbo, aka Iso Akpafit.

The Assistant Director, Public Relations, 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Major Umar Shuaib, in a statement, disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday.

The Statement said the militants, Aniebet Udoh and Thankgod Osiokpaphi, were shot dead on Tuesday following military raids on their hideouts at Ikpe village in the Etim Ekpo Local Government Area.



“The gallant troops of 2 Brigade Nigerian Army had on Monday 15 January 2018 acting on tipoff trailed a notorious cultist and renowned killer Akaninyene Jumbo Uko Alias Isopafit at Inyih village, a border town between Akwa Ibom and Abia states.

“The culprit was known for terrorising the inhabitants of Ukanafun Local government Area in Akwa Ibom State.

“He perpetrated the killings of two Nigerian Police personnel and a Truck driver in Ukanafun local government area on 17 November last year.

“He also masterminded the killing of a commissioner’s sister and two others in Ikot Oko Osun community in Ukunafun local government area on 19 November 2017,’’ he said, adding that the suspects had been evading arrests after all the incidents.

“After our first operation, which led to the killing of Iso Akpafit, our gallant troops, following another tip-off, invaded the hideout of the remaining gang members at Ikpe village in the Etim Ekpo Local Government Area on Tuesday.

”We engaged the hoodlums in a shootout and killed two of them, namely Aniebet Udoh and Thankgod Osiokpaphi, the other kidnappers escaped with gunshot injuries,” he said.

It stated that items recovered from the hoodlums include one pump-action gun, two locally-made shotguns, 13 live cartridges, eight expended cartridges, two dane guns and two cutlasses adding that their corpses had been deposited at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital mortuary.

The statement said that the Commander, 2 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. Abdu Ibrahim Hassan, had assured law abiding citizens in the area that the Brigade will do everything within its powers to protect their lives and property.

A 32-year-old man identified as Edet Asuquo, has fled his home in the Idi Araba area of Lagos State after he nearly killed his 3-week-old baby, Gift Asuquo, with slap.

Edet, who did not want a girl child, was alleged to have said he didn’t see her usefulness and threatened to kill her.

According to Punch, Edet and the baby’s mother, Rosemary Kingsley, both indigenes of Calabar, Cross River State, were only dating when the woman became pregnant.



Rosemary was reported to have packed into the suspect’s apartment on Ayinla Street after she was delivered of the baby.

Edet, a bus conductor, however, was said to have been angry that his lover gave birth to a girl and not a boy as he expected, which resulted in frequent disagreements between them.

The baby was reported to be hungry and was crying when the father allegedly slapped her.

She was said to have convulsed due to the severity of the assault and was rushed to a medical centre for treatment.

The hospital workers informed the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender of the matter, and the agency contacted the police at the Itire division.

But by the time the police got to the house, the suspect had ran away.

Following the lifted ban on cinemas in Saudi Arabia, the country screened its first public movie in 35 years in the form of “The Emoji Movie.”

According to Reuters, the conservative Islamic kingdom lifted the ban in December after a movement in the 1980s that focused on morality and avoiding men and women intermingling in public closed all theaters. The country, which is experiencing a liberalization under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is expected to open theaters as early as March. Until that time, authorities sponsored a temporary theater in a state-run cultural hall in Jeddah. Families were treated to a projector and screen, a red carpet and popcorn machine to complete the full movie-going experience.

The Verge reports that “The Emoji Movie” was the first to air along with “Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie” in an effort to start things off with more family-friendly fare, thus preserving the morals that the typically conservative society is worried about while opening the door to a potentially lucrative industry.



As Deadline notes, the Saudi government estimates that a cinema business could contribute more than $24 billion to the economy by 2030, creating an estimated 30,000 permanent jobs and roughly 130,000 temporary jobs. This will help the nation’s long term goal of making its economy less-dependant on oil.

According to BoxOfficeMojo, “The Emoji Movie” grossed roughly $86 million in the United States while “Captain Underpants” brought in $73 million.

News broke a few days ago about the death of Zainab, a 7-year old girl, who had gone missing couple of weeks back.

The beautiful 7-year old was abducted, brutally raped and murdered in Kasur, Pakistan.

Zainab’s body was found on Tuesday, January 9, at a garbage pile near Shahbaz Road.



Initial postmortem report said the little girl was strangled to death after being raped multiple times.



Zainab went missing after she left home for a religious tuition centre near her house in the Road Kot area on January 4th. It is believed she was abducted from the center.

The child had been living with her maternal aunt due to her parent’s trip to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah (the lesser pilgrimage).

A 40-year-old mother in San Jose died two days after catching the flu, The San Francisco Chronicle reported, citing local media.

Katie Denise Oxley Thomas, who was considered healthy and liked to run marathons, died on Jan. 4, the report said. She is the 42 Californian under the age of 65 to die from the flu, the paper reported.

“I can tell you that she seemed absolutely fine on New Year’s Eve and called a friend Tuesday morning saying that she had a sore throat, and by Wednesday she was in the ICU, her sister told The Mercury News.

“The doctor was saying that he had never seen anything like this, and it was not supposed to happen,” she said.



The family asked for a private autopsy. Her father believes she had gotten the flu shot, KGO reported.

Thomas had three children from seven to 17.

Flu is now widespread in every state except Hawaii, but the good news is the season appears to already be peaking.

It’s been a rough few weeks: Hospitals have set up tents to handle patient overflow. Doctors are putting in double and triple shifts. Ambulances have been sidelined while paramedics waited to drop off patients.

“This morning, I couldn’t stand up. I was really weak,” said Margaret Shafer, who went to a Seattle emergency room this week after a bout with the flu was followed by pneumonia.

But an update out Friday from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows patient traffic for flu is no longer skyrocketing the way it was in December.

“It looks like it’s starting to level out,” said the CDC’s Lynnette Brammer, who oversees flu tracking.

Still, flu is unpredictable. “I don’t know where it will end up,” she added.

Many flu seasons don’t really get going until around Christmas, and don’t crescendo until February. That’s how last year’s flu season played out. This season got off to an early start and cases surged over the holidays.

She spoke about being signed to Temple Music, which houses talents like 9ice, Iyanya and Jeff Akoh. Of course, not without touching on moments from her stint at the Big Brother Naija house, which was madly commercialized and had fellow music personas at the show house.

She also revealed the rationale behind releasing her latest single, Luchia.
