I don't disrespect people and u can see that if you go through my posts on NL. If you have to disagree with me, kindly do that respectfully. I have no problem if your opinion is different from mine, that's how people learn and grow.

Please try to find out if your state has an Islamic school/ islamic center. Also find out how its funded.
Then figure out the number of Muslims there compared with other southeast states.
If nothing comes up, Google can also help.

My posts on this issue is not to degrade Ebonyi but to state what I know and air my opinion.
If you took it wrongly, then its yours to defend. Muslims are also humans.

First, I don't insult people and hardly comment on nairaland but was moved to correct the negative impression some of you have about a place u may have never visited. I am from the state and I can confidently tell you that I have never seen any Muslim in my own LGA and other areas I have visited and lived within the state. You cannot openly and confidently affirm that because we have Islamic center in ebonyi, it means we have high number of Muslims convert in the state. Also note that some northerners live in the state and as such has same right to set up their religious center wherever they chose to. it is worthy to remenber that our own brothers do same in the northern part of the country. Coming to thread subject, I agree with most guys that the creation of ministry of religion is the least of all we need in the state and i cannot comprehend such move at this pointing time.
Lastly, Ebonyians are wonderful people who inspite of their gross Marginalisation in the time past strived to be where they are today. You need to read the history of the people a little bit.

I was just going through Punch News this morning and stumbled into this horrific news as reported by Punch on quote

"Many people at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, Lagos State, were shocked on Tuesday as an 18-year-old man narrated how he strangled a 12-year-old girl for money ritual.

The suspect, Ikechukwu Friday, said he had gone to beg a pastor for money when the pastor instructed him to kill a young girl and obtain her faeces.

He said the pastor promised him N100, 000 if he was able to accomplish the task.

He said, “I attend a popular church around Ketu Street, Aguda, but I live with my parents in Badagry. I just finished secondary school and I have been very broke. So, I approached the pastor for money, but he told me that I should strangulate a little girl.

“He explained that while strangulating the girl, she would pass out faeces in the throes of death. The pastor said I should obtain the faeces and bring it to him. He said if I could do this, he would give me N100,000.

“On December 30, 2013, I approached a young girl, Bose Ogoja. Her mother sells food in Badagry and I usually patronise them; so she trusted me. I told the girl that I wanted to show her something and she should follow me. I took her to an abandoned NITEL building and locked the door.

“I squeezed her neck and truly, she passed out faeces. I was, however, not able to get the faeces because I was caught before I could escape.”

The suspect, an indigene of Onitsha, Anambra State, pleaded for mercy adding that this was his first crime.

Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said the suspect was arrested by neighbours in the area and handed over to the Badagry Police Division.

Braide said the pastor, who allegedly gave the suspect the instruction had been arrested and was already cooperating with the police.

While displaying the gruesome picture of the slain girl, Braide said, “He was arrested in an uncompleted building. The security guard manning the building told the police that he saw the Friday entering the building with a 12-year-old girl.

“He said a few minutes later, he heard the girl screaming and later saw the boy leaving. The security guard raised the alarm and the neighbours were alerted and they arrested the suspect. On entering the building, they discovered that the girl was dead.

“The picture of the girl’s corpse shows that the girl is naked and her faeces is on the floor.”."

OsunOriginal: There is no division here and there can't be. Come to think of it, is boko haram a religious or political issue? It is purely political and nothing religious about it. Politicians are the one behind it and using it to intimidate and divide people for political gain but give it a religious colour.

In Yorubaland, we have muslims and xtians in the same nuclear family - husband muslim and wife xtian with their children split between the two religions in some cases.

Now tell me, the husband will plant a bomb or work with boko haram (or whatever name you give it) to bomb the church his wife and probably children attend?

Man, it is really naive and crude to think that someone here will be carrying bombs around. Even the bombing in the north are most carried out by non nigerians from chad and niger republic. Policians are using foreigners to intimidate their people and use the money looted form our treasury to sponsor terrorism across the land. But when they come to south west, I am sure whoever is behind this evil will be revealed.

It has come to the point where every member of this honourable forum should avoid as much as possible the quest to cause or instigate tribal fight even when there are absolutely no reason for that.
Each time I go through the forum and some comments posted by some few who has no understanding of the topic they happen to contribute to, I see a lot of ignorant and hatefull comments aimed at provoking some group of Nigerians. This has no place in our society and will rather tear down the harmonious relationship highly needed to pull Nigeria together than make us a more perfect union.
We do understand they are some fringe elements who would prefer to flush their anger and frustration over here but we will need to silence such post by not responding/replying/Commenting on their post; That way, the person would view him/herself irrelevant in the forum and would be dittered the next time he thinks of doing the same.

whether Ibo, Yoruba or hausa, we are one Nigeria and nairaland is a God sent forum where we can engage ourselves in constructive arguements and or criticism of how we can move this great nation forward.

I am a proud Ibo man and will never have any reason to deny my heritage.
When i read the comments from most guys who somehow happen to come from South West, i do not agree with them.
Yes, we do have bad eggs amongst every group of people or a community but that does not mean everyone of them is bad.
Dont forget that the Ibos has greatly contributed to the development of so many remote communities they live in Nigeria and that didn't happen through criminal act. The fact that few people engage in such criminal activity does not mean every Ibo man/woman is evil or dubious. Lets try and be productive in our arguments and stop playing some tribalistic politics.

I realy appreciate u guys understanding on this issue, am from that part of the country and to be frank, that IDIOT called SAM EGWU is a thief and wasted the 8 years allocation of Ebonyi state. Ebonyi state remains one of the smallest state in eastern part of the country whose monthly allocation would have been enough to transform the state into a paradise instead that Idiot wasted it on accumulation of properties that has no economic impact on the citizens of the state.
He will never win and my prayer is that God should grant him political bankcrupcy as qick as thurnderstom lighting.
