The Citizenship path looks green and juicy but not without a few surmountable constraints here and there.

Becoming a permanent citizen (F5 visa) starts with securing the F2 status first.
The long-term residency status (F2 Visa) is based on a point-system structure and the more points you secure, the greener your chances would be. I have attached a file to further show how this is done and how best you could achieve this.

Eligibility

To get the F-2 visa, you must:

1. Have an eligible visa status i.e an E-series or D-Series: (D-2, D-5, D-6, D-7, D-8, D-9, D-10 (D-2 and D-10 holders must be in master’s or doctorate degree program and have job prospects lined up))
2. Lived in Korea for at-least 1 year or more
3. Reach at-least 80 points out of a possible 120.

Student visa to S/K is it single entry or multiple entry..are you the one to chose or they'll choose for you?

Student visas to SK (and to all other countries) are usually single entry as they are regarded as long-termed and do not expect students to frequently engage on international travels in the cause of their Academic program. However, some students are lucky enough to get theirs as multi-entry, and this remains a luck!
However, you could maximize your chances by filling-in multi-entry (as a preference) in your visa application form!

I am honestly not supposed to say this here but i keep getting this continued vibes that most of you guys on the other-end have these thoughts that life here is all rosy and sweet as soon as you get here. Your life could be a little miserable here if you do not properly plan your visa type/status from Nigeria. So please take note!


CANDID OPINION:

Coming here on Language Program visa status(D4) as your option A. If you are here on a Language program visa (D4), you clearly would not be able to freely work until the completion of the program. Besides, you are not even allowed to work on that visa type. If caught, you would be instantly put on the next available flight, back to Naija!
Hence, i suggest you have your mind ZEROED at sponsoring yourself fully for the 6-months period(work or no-work situation). Come with enough cash to sponsor yourself for that period until you find something doing.

Option B is to directly come here on a UG/Master/PhD Program visa (D2). That should allow you to freely work at nights on the side(with the consent of your institution though and not more than 30-40 hours weekly). That should be enough especially when you also get some kinda scholarships for your program and upkeep.
But you clearly cannot also work daily full-time jobs on that visa type. If caught, you would either pay a very heavy fine or be deported immediately(for 2nd time offenders). Hence, getting admitted into any shambolic program or institution does not matter here.

Option C is to seek an asylum visa status(G1) after the completion of your Language Program visa. That visa only lasts for a few months or tops; 1year&6months(if you are lucky). That visa status would allow you to work here freely day or night but with lots of restrictions.

NB: These points have been somewhat buttressed by Acadollar, a few other guys already here and myself in the previous threads.

The choice is always yours to make guys!

I have shared the KIT web link(http://eng.kumoh.ac/e_new/sub03/Korean%20language%20course.php) for almost half-a-dozen time on this platform, but i still get email questions such as: What programs do KIT offer?, How much is the fees?, What documents should be submitted?, What is the submission deadline?,How do i apply for an English Test Exams, How can i fill-up the form, How much should i have in my bank account?, and funnily, How can i post the documents to Korea?
These are fundamental issues and any serious-minded aspiring student should not have a problem solving such.

Please consult the site thoroughly, read through all the info which affects you and then you could ask me questions which are clearly silent on the website or a little personal to you!
Do not feel slighted if you don't get responses for your emails as a result of the often repetitive questions you throw at me.

Finally, Asking too many questions over and over again, without any coordinated and pragmatic moves/steps, would amount to nothing!
Make a BOLD move today, if you really have genuine intentions of coming to South Korea!

Mr. Will, please i need to know how the schooling schedule for masters in KIT is. i learnt from a friend that its very difficult to have time to work when doing regular masters programs. He said its best to do masters in theology instead were u only go to school once a week and have the rest of the days to work. he also said all the people he knows doing regular masters only works at night and school during the day.
And one more thing, pls wats the tuition fees for masters in Kit and is the admission on going?

All secondary schools should have a formal template of secondary school transcript where all your personal data and academic scores (in the entire duration of your education with them) would be entered. Meet them and have them do it for you!

Okay, so lemme share my thoughts here.

1). High School Diploma Transcript refers to the academic records (preferably from your JSS-3 till SSCE-3) obtained from your Secondary School. Go meet them and have them issue it to you with a stamp and signature from the current Principal. (i still have my own copy).

2). WAEC certificate refers to the photocopy of your ORIGINAL WAEC Certificate(Not testimonial or Statement of Result). No need for WAEC transcript 'cos WAEC is a certification exam body, so there isn't any.

3). Take clear copies of these docs to the notary public(usually found around any Magistrate/High-Court premises around you), and have them stamp and officially attest it with High court stamps/signature and a notary officer's stamp/signature.

That's all.

NB: All these are not for free as there are financial implications for them services. so be prepared!

Dear Nairalanders, I graduated last year and really keen on travelling to South Korea. My uncle ( a citizen over there) has agreed to stand as my guarantor and send me an invitation. I just want to know the immigration clearing process I must go through on arrival. Secondly, how much will it cost my uncle to bring me over? (with the hope it won't cost him a fortune). First-off, confirm the visa status of your uncle, F2 - long-term resident(usually 3-year renewable), F-5 - permanent resident(Korean passport holder), or E visa series - legally working in Korea(renewable every year depending).

You will enjoy an F1 visa status (Visiting or Joining Family), and you are not legally allowed to work in Korea unless your uncle has a business/coy and employs you in it. The F-1 visa process needs to be started in the home country prior to arriving in Korea. Documents need to be submitted to a Korean embassy/consulate abroad. From then, you will be given a visa issuance number which can be taken to the Korean immigration office in Korea. A proper F-1 visa card (ARC) will be issued at that point in Korea.
The validity period of the F-1 visa is between one and three years. It expires in conjunction with your Uncle's visa status you are gonna be with, who has either a legal working visa or F-2. It could last more if he has an F-5 visa.

In the event that they were not specific, then they usually would require a Govt. teaching/general hospital or a famous private hospital such as St. Nicholas hospital on the island of Lagos.

On a lighter note, do not simply go get it from one Mukaila Obi Musa Maternity/general hospital, Nigeria. Lol.

1. Ethiopian airline looks great but i would suggest you search on-line to see and compare prices before booking. Also note that you would have to book a return flight since you are coming on a visa which is less than 2 years.
2. Korean Won How well, i suggest you come with dollars, but if you could get Korean Won from your end, then that would just be perfect.
3. Flying on a weekend is cool, but be sure to be here on a working day, so you could get university staffs to quickly attend to you, without having you wait till the next working day. I would also suggest that you book a flight that would get you here during the day or mid afternoon(at worst), cos if you reach here by night, you may have to pass the night at a hotel(extra cost), if provisions have not been made prior to your arrival.
4. You would undergo medical tests when you are here, for immigration registration purposes. Not too worry!
5. We are now in Spring, so the climate is a little mild now, no longer too cold. But still come with your jackets, winter coats and whatever that would keep you warm here. Also, arrange your things and documents properly. You may be asked a few questions by the airport immigration just to cross-check what they have of you. So be confident, outspoken, straight to the point, and do not change whatever you have stated in your records.
6. Your future academic aspirations are quite great. Just start looking-out for competitive universities and scholarship opportunities as soon as you are here. Wish you the very best at it. hope to see you here soon ***

4. Start packaging and fixing up your documentation requirement ASAP.

But later saw that some schools require notarised copies and something apostile...I don't know if I should continue the regular procedure by going to the embassy to gt their stamp and submit to the schools...or should I start from the beginning by notarizing my docs ?.....and also will 4m naira b OK for statement of account ?

I want to believe that all institutions have their own specific requirements for admission purposes. Please do exactly whatever they have asked from you. Do not simply do things on a general-scale assumption!

4Million Naira in your pers/family account should do provided it equals to what the embassy stipulates as the base-minimum!
Finally, please narrow-down your admission pursuit to maybe 2 institutions max, so as to give you a major and pivotal focus to meeting up with their respective requirements. You are quite still young and could still afford to try a few more times in the event of any disappointment.

Absolutely! You could book a one-way flight ticket provided you have a D2 visa valid for minimum of 2-years! Airport Immigration only starts disturbing people on a D4 visa which is usually valid for less than 1 year.

Please note that, D2 visas are Academic/Study/Research visas while D4 are for Training/Language study/short term programs. Do not have it mixed up!

Come here on a student visa(Language Program/UG/Masters/Ph.D), complete your program, secure a job here and change your visa status. No short cuts..

For the cost implications, your program and university would be the determinants.

I have written the personal statement but don't know what is required of me to do in the study plan. Are personal statement and study plan the same thing? If not please can you tell me the difference and if possible share tips on how you wrote yours.

They are actually different in meaning, but also perfectly okay to have them both combined and presented in one piece. However, they have to be clearly indicated with clear subtitles. Advisably, the piece should be more than 1-page but should not exceed 4-pages.

Whilst personal statements implies all about your identity/heritage, personality, capabilities, societal welfare-ism and Acada/Employment achievements so far, study plan focuses on your preference for the intended program you have applied for, your thesis(for UG and mostly course-based Masters) or research focus(for masters and Ph.D) and ultimate goals on completion of studies.

I need your advice please. I applied to a university in SK in the last spring semester for a Ph.D (full scholarship) after seeking an approval from a Professor that promised to push it through I was denied admission at departmental screening.

But when I contacted the Prof. on the development, she felt sad and said she didn't know what went wrong that she had even informed her current student that I would be joining them for spring semester.

Last week, the Prof. contacted me that I should reapply for the doctaral program again for the coming summer semester that she will try her best to push it through this time around. But my plan initially is to wait till next spring semester before applying but she is insisting I should try and apply for summer semester.

I must commend your patience and perseverance till now concerning your admission.

To start with, the Prof. may have her reasons for asking you to re-apply by summer. I suggest you strictly adhere to her advice and just send-in your applications once more.
Usually, Professors with little or no external funding have to depend largely on their institution to fund a student they admit, and this student has to face huge competitions from other prospective students like himself, wishing to come to other departments in that same institution, hence, the often rejections.

She may have got a green-light as to her own case regarding admission and that may clearly be the reason she had asked you to send-in once again this summer. Abeg, dust your documents again, re-package am, find money and have it processed ASAP. My humble take on that.

I would like to know your major and research focus. I could also help you pull some strings here @KIT if your major is purely IT and /or Electronics Engineering inclined.

Nigeria as a country speaks better English language than the rest of the African countries(arguably), yet, we are not legally allowed to teach the language here or anywhere else for that matter. We cannot easily secure collar or lucrative jobs in other sectors too directly from Nigeria.
We are only allowed to do shitty and PT jobs abroad while studying. We are only allowed to first spend hugely on foreign education and then work extremely harder to now secure lucrative jobs abroad.
These are the consequences of the previous actions of our bros n sis abroad. The get-rich-quick syndrome have totally be-deviled their minds. They have practically ruin it all for the incoming generation, who now have nothing left.

For instance, sometimes it beats me why heavily accented English-speaking countries like South Africa, Angola, et al, could easily secure teaching jobs here, but we Nigerians, who are extremely qualified for such jobs gets turned down or ignored the moment we put-in our CVs.

Be the change you really want to see! Do needful when abroad. Stay legal, determined and focused. Stay away from crimes and criminality when abroad

Yes, we all are here to add great value to ourselves and the lives of the people around us(family n friends), but doesn't mean that we now have to flout visa rules in doing so, Dear JanePatricks, but just as the link specifies, his expensive mistake may have cost him a 5-year ban, and he apparently cannot do anything about it.
His actions have also directly/indirectly cost the image and reputation of the country he represents and the people genuinely coming after him. You really have to be here(or anywhere else) to see how local citizens /companies/institutions/Govt. parastatal negatively objectify and treat Africans(esp'ly Nigerians) abroad. I must be frank with you here!

So I encourage you to start educating him on the need to always legalize his status when abroad again rather than holding briefs for him. We all have a huge role to play in redeeming the lost image/credibility of that country.
Finally, i did clearly mention the possible reasons why he may have earned a 5-year ban(Paragraph 1), even with the web link. I did not imply or insinuate he was a criminal.
Please take a chill pill, we all are here to learn and help one another.
