Good morning everyone. I want to say a very big thank you to everyone of you who have aired their respective views on this very issue.

Just last night I brought up this same topic up in my compound and it turned into something else. I was with my friends and neighbors (4 guys and 2 ladies). Initially it was just the six of us trying to operationalized it. While doing that some of my neighbors now joined us and they began to air their views.
Amazingly and shockingly, majority of them shares the same sentiment as my uncle. Even some women in my compound are of the same opinion.
I really wish to know if this one of the many wrong and baseless assumptions in African society or if there is any peculiarity or iota of truth in this.

I can't answer your question but I can say this, I married one and we have been apart for close to two years now after she ran away. They are mostly hot tempered and stubborn. I am not generalizing here, just stating my observation from a few encounters I have had with brief ladies.

The next would be on short men. It's our duty to depart from that tradition and parochial perception. My mother is short but I never saw her displayed any of the characteristics towards my father. In fact, they never had an issue or a quarrel with my father before he joined his ancestors.

Well, she's the first of her kind that I have dated. To be honest, she's not disrespectful or mannerless but she's very stubborn, rigid and sometimes unyielding.

I visited my paternal uncle this past weekend. It was fun; we dinned,drink and 'chatted' a lot. During our conversation, my phone rang. After speaking with my caller I turned to my uncle who then looked me in the face and asked "is that your woman?" I said yes because truthfully she was the one. After asking me few questions about my relationship he then request to see her picture of which I did show him.

On seeing her picture my uncle said "she's not tall right?" I replied yes. He then said "she won't make a good wife". I was stunned and confused on hearing this. I asked him to please explain what he meant by that.

He told me these: "short ladies are too full of themselves; they are unyielding, stubborn, rigid and disrespectful. They are void of good character."

I left there later that day with his words running 100metres in my head.
Pls dear Romacelander I want to know or to be sure if there is any element of truth in what my uncle said.

My Opinion: Love alone is more than enough to sustain a relationship. Let us not forget something so important here; love is an umbrella word i.e it encompasses so many attributes some of which you guys have rightly mentioned above.

One out of the many reasons why it seems love is not enough to sustain a relationship is because most persons do adopt the wrong template of love. Love should not be copied or adopted. It should be built and designed according to one's taste and style.

Again, most persons sees loving someone else as doing that person a huge favor which is very wrong. We should learn to love not because those we love needs it more but because we also desired to be loved.
