The rate at which information is received is called the download speed and the higher the download speed, the less time it takes for your computer to receive the requested files and information. Like bandwidth, download speeds are measured in megabits per second.
Similarly, when you post a photo to Facebook, share a video to YouTube, or attach a document in your e-mail, you are sending information from your computer to a remote location.

The rate at which that information is transferred from your computer to the server is called the upload speed. Like download speed, upload speed is also measured in megabits per second.
ISPs provide higher bandwidth for downloads than uploads, since internet browsing generally involves accessing more information than is sent. For example, when conducting a web search, you send a comparatively small amount of data to indicate what you are searching for, when compared with the search results, which may include text, images, and sometimes video and audio.

Latency is the time it takes for a small packet to travel. Download and upload speeds are how much data can be transferred at a time. Using our earlier roads analogy, latency represents the fastest amount of time a single car could drive down a road and back, which would not be affected by the width of the road. because only a single car is traveling at a time. Download and upload speeds depend on bandwidth, which represents how much traffic the roads could handle before experiencing slowdowns.

Understanding the difference between Bandwidth and Throughput
- You may often hear the term bandwidth used in the context of discussing Internet speeds.Bandwidth refers to the data transfer rate that can be handled by a medium ( be it copper, fiber, air etc). The data transfer rate is measured in bits per second, though given the immense number of bits that can be transferred by modern hardware, most outlets express this number as millions of bits, megabits, per second, or even billions of bits, gigabits, per second. Bandwidth is often prominently advertised by Internet service providers when touting their speeds, often with small accompanying text indicating actual speeds may vary.
Various factors, both within and out of your control, contribute to the actual speed of your Internet connection, which is why bandwidth is often advertised as speeds up to a certain number.
To illustrate the concept of bandwidth, imagine cars traveling on a road. A high-bandwidth connection could be illustrated by a highway with five lanes traveling in each direction. A large number of cars can travel on the highway at once in both directions, and the cars can travel at high speeds.
A two-lane road with one lane traveling in each direction will illustrate a much lower-bandwidth connection, where only one lane of cars may travel at the same time.
Provided that traffic remains at a minimum, the two-lane road still performs adequately, but has much lower capacity for handling large amounts of traffic, and is prone to slowdowns, or bottleneck, if the capacity is met.
In contrast to bandwidth, throughput reflects the Internet connection speed while accounting for factors such as radio interference, distance the data needs to travel, cable quality, and other real-life variables that affect data transfer.
In our highway analogy, even on a five-lane road, wet conditions, potholes, and other obstructions would slow down traffic.
While the bandwidth, the amount of traffic the highway could theoretically handle, remains the same, the throughput is reduced. While bandwidth represents the theoretical capacity, the throughput gives a better description of your actual Internet connection speed. So how does bandwidth factor into network performance? In our analogy, if there isn't a lot of traffic on a single-lane road, a single car could travel at the same speed as it could on the five-lane highway. Likewise, on our network, low-bandwidth actions such as text chat may see little difference in performance between high- and low-bandwidth connections.
On the other hand, bandwidth-intensive applications such as videoconferencing, online gaming,and streaming video can demand larger portions of available bandwidth, similar to how even a five-lane freeway can back up given enough traffic on the road.

You are not paying anything to the Security man, It is just your documents that he will collect. You will pay Visa fee on the date of your appointment.

@ OP, I tried applying for Indian Visa last year and created a post about it here.
The solution is that you need to go to the Consulate in Lagos or Embassy in Abuja on any working day with your application form duly filled and printed out ( forget that there is no appointment date on it ). Attach your two passport on it.
When there, you will wait outside until all applicants with appointment date have been attended to, then the security will come out and ask for forms of those without appointment date, he will take it in and they ( Embassy officials )will screen it and if you papers are in order, they will give you appointment date and sign it. With that you need not pay any tout for Appointment date.

Why do people think that Private Hospitals perform better than Government Hospitals. For clarification purposes, Eko Hospital is a Private Hospital with hospitals at Surulere and Ikeja in Lagos.

I will always advice any mid or low income woman who is pregnant to go General/Specialist Health center. The beauty in there is that they have team of doctors ( different specialization and level of experience) and some consultants unlike the most Private hospitals which residents only one or two GPs and seeks the services of Consultant periodically.

If you are in Lagos, Gbagada General Hospital is recommended, Sometimes the attitude of the Nurses or attendants might be displeasing but what you need is better healthcare and sound child delivery.

Mine was in the Paris, I was on my way to CDG Airport enroute Naija, boarded a Train, when we got to Massy Palasieu, the train stopped and there was an announcement, Omo, I tanda for my seat, I no know say na for all man to disembark and join the other train.
The lady that shared the same coach with me after alighting had to come back n tell me to drop n join the other train.

Na im me bring out my ticket with total confidence say nothing mega, as one of them insert am for them machine, he come frown, na so them begin speak french. the next thing they said i no validate the ticket before entering the train, say my fine na 30Euro, i beg for English, little french wey i know, show them my return ticket wey show say my flight to Naija go leave in 2hrs, them no hear, they even threaten calling Cops for me, I paid the 30 Euro with my GTB ATM. Since them i no dey take eye see any foreigner wey offend for Naija n our law enforcement agent come laugh with am because say na Oyibo. I go dey there see say im pay for im offence

I am a Telecom Professional and currently on an official assignment at Vodacom, Bellville, Cape town South Africa. I currently stay at Town Lodge Hotel.

Also want to ask if it is possible for my company in India getting this appointment for me considering the limited time they have to finalize the project which i am coming for?

I have not been able to apply yet, have been awake all nite trying to get appointment, now their portal is telling me " Access code not valid"

I work in a Multinational engineering firm and am billed to travel to India mid this month to work with our office in India on a new Technology which they have no local resource alternative.

I filled the VISA online Application form since Wednesday 5th November 2014 and was told that " No Appointment Dates are Available " I have been trying ever-since then with the same result.
Yesterday, I made out time and visited the Consulate at Walter Carrington here in Lagos.

What I observed was not funny:

The Consulate officials in connivance with touts/Agents have mapped out strategy of extorting desperate Nigerians especially those traveling to India on Medical ground their hard earned money. This fee which range from 5k to 20k is not VISA processing fee but cost of getting you an Appointment date which ought to be free and transparent. They told me that even if I try till next year that I will not get a date just to submit my Visa application.

I keep asking, can India or other Consulate in Ghana or SA be so crude to their host nationals?

I might forfeit the trip as my office has a compliance policy and bribing is a NO NO here.

Guys, please if you have gone through this ordeal, kindly share your experience and how you got over it.

It is very displeasing that when we are out of the Country , we are treated badly and even inside our own country, these foreign nationals still make things difficult for Nigerians.

Our leaders should wake up and make Nigeria better, else why should such a crowd be desperate to go to India if we have an OK health system here that can handle some major treatment without complications?
