PoliticsRe: Update On Lagos Early Results - Vanguard by Wislet(f): 11:12pm On Apr 11, 2015
odeotito:
Just unfortunate that Agbaje is now tainted as an Igbo ethnic politician! Imagine him promising to make an Eze Igbo a First Class Chief in Lagos. Except he was deceiving the Igbo he should know that The Igbo are a fiercely Republican and autonomous people who will not accept the overlordship of a single person as Eze all over Lagos Igbo- confusion will ensue! Just wondering how much of Igbo he can speak - in case he needs to try making a run for Governorship in any of the eastern states!
Shame to the apostles of ethnic politics playing us against one another! Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa et al are Nigerians who deserve to vote and be voted for ANYWHERE in the country.
It remains to be said however that it is an unreasonable and unfair thing to do to hit your host community under the belt by playing the ethnic card in election time when you have not been discriminated against in enjoying the dividend of democracy! The obvious attempt by Igbos at doing so in this elections is unfortunate and will only serve a notice on the Yoruba to be wary of the Igbo as a people nursing an agenda to take over their host community. The Igbo must consciously set out to put the Yoruba (their hosts in Lagos) at ease by correcting that impression.
I think you guys are getting it all wrong. Yorubas on nairaland should stop seeing trouble where there's none. You guys should take a chill pill. Igbos are a people known to be unintimidated. Even if everyone else runs in fear, it wouldn't be a surprise that it would be an Igbo man who'll go to the lion's den and challenge it to a duel.
Jimi Agbaje and Akinwunmi Ambode are both YORUBA NAMES, and this is what some people have forgotten. None of them is even Igbo. Nigeria is operating a democracy where it is your free choice to vote anyone you wish. Why should anyone make a threatening statement to another person, talkless of a group of people just for political gains? Where else in the world is such seen? Is there any sane/civilized society you know where such is done or condoned?

Yorubas have to know one thing. No one is fighting you. The earlier you throw away that imagination, the better. If Igbos(even though I'm sure some of them must have voted for Ambode) decide to vote for Agbaje, it is their choice, same way YOU have your choice.

If anything, I think their anger is directed at the Oba and not any yoruba person. And I'm sure there's no thought of 'taking over Lagos' the way some of you like to imagine. Try not to get it twisted. When something is wrong, say it is wrong. It's not good to defend anyone, no matter how highly placed in society, instead of saying what is wrong is wrong. Any contention during the elections was directed at the statement and the person who made the statement. So, voting PDP was not to fight yorubas (after all, some yorubas must have voted PDP), but to let the Oba know that no one should be threatened, and such statements are wrong.

It's baffling seeing some people acting like there was a battle between yorubas and Igbos, with people that have lived peacefully with for many years? Just because of this one election? Some people don't think about analyzing issues before drawing conclusions or calling a spade a spade.
Please even the president is not God, LET US STOP WORSHIPPING OUR FELLOW MAN IF WE DO NOT WANT TO BREED LEADERS WHO WILL TURN THIS COUNTRY LIKE NORTH KOREA- when he does wrong you cannot boldly correct him, instead ignore it and praise him instead. This is democracy and everyone should be free, truly free in his fatherland.

So, yorubas on this thread who think Igbos are fighting them, that mentality should be dropped wherever you picked it.

If your grievance is 'no man's land' statement, you have the mouth to reply 'it's a man's land'. Peaceful coexistence has been there between the two groups years after your 'no man's land'. Is it this elections that will bring up an 'Igbo man' to 'take over?'....... I never knew AGBAJE to be an Igbo name. Let the joke not be on you.

FamilyRe: Nagging Wife — When Nagging Gets Out Of Control by Wislet(f): 12:29pm On Apr 10, 2015
Timbuktou:
How To Deal With A Nagging Wife:

Get up and do as she says like the boy-boy that you are:

OR:

1. Look at her for fifteen seconds when she's speaking.

2. Say nothing.

3. Look away and continue whatever you were doing before the nagging gates opened.

4. If the noise is too much, suggest that she lower the volume of her amplifier.

5. If that doesn't help, go get a drink: this should help in shutting you up too.

6. If it doesn't help, tell her to shut up.

7. If she doesn't shut up, get up and kiss her. This should work if she's not possessed.

8. If the kiss doesn't work, you should know that she's the one to host the airforce midnight meeting of the week. Get change of clothes for work, leave home, call olosho or olosho supplier, get a comfortable room.

9. Call from work the next day. And increase the length of days as discretion allows.

10. Repeat as required. angry angry

This usually cures 95% of nagging spouse situations. If this doesn't work, you're finished. You either will be a hen-pecked bastarrd, die young, or get a divorce. In which case, the first part might just be for you. sad sad

FamilyRe: Mum Runs Mad Over News Of Death Of Baby She Waited Seven Years To Have by Wislet(f): 11:57am On Apr 09, 2015
I wouldn't call it 'running mad'. Her mind shifted instead. It would go a long way for people (even professional institutions) to be educated on sensitive issues such as this. This is a case where she could be taken to a psychiatric hospital and given professional help by experienced individuals. She had a mind shift, most probably.
The psychiatrist and even her family can help her a lot. The husband(who's most probably closest to her) or her mum should keep talking to her reassuringly and in an understanding manner.
This is why I sometimes wish we are as developed a nation as USA and some others.
It is very possible for her to be cured if we have the expertise. God pls help her.

He's into your friend mate, forget every other postulations coming up here other than that. This should serve a caustic lesson to other sistas in the habit of freeloading on guys on a date. Solution? You either summon the nerve to giv the dude a piece of your mind for disrespecting you, cos thats exactly what it comes down to, or just freaking release the digits & sulk endlessly at the prospects or reality of your bestie cruising off with your potential partner/ spouse. Sometimes we need to learn the harshest way.....
Oh by the way op, thought you were supposed to be in ny, or did this all happen in the Big Apple?
As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing to get angry with the guy about. It's not like he did a shady thing. Shady would have been getting the friend's number directly from her and dating her whilr letting the OP think she's still 'the one'. Instead, he's asking for it through her. He'd probably feel bad telling the OP directly, "Hey, I'm interested in your friend, not you anymore. Give me her number please", so he's going about it this way so OP will decode that he likes her friend, and not feel so terrible(my opinion). Besides, it was just ONE date. The guy hasn't told the OP he wants to date her, and it most probably hasn't come to the boyfriend/girlfriend stage, not to talk of marriage. Just ONE date to get to know her better. Unfortunately(or fortunately for him), he met someone who may become 'the one'. Let her stop making it look serious. Move on.

I met tunde on the 3rd of december in a boutique,he was cute and funny and everyone seemed to like him because of his funny behaviour and the smiles he brought to people's faces,he walked towards me and tried making advances and finally asked for my nunmer which I declined at first but after much pestering I gave in and gave him my number
He called me a week after and asked for a date with me,but since I was not so farmiliar with him,I decided to take my friend tracy along with me.I noticed that his eyes were glued to my friend most times even when I tried to draw his attention...till this very moment he has been asking for my friend's number from me which is so embarrassing..
I'm sorry, but I fail to see what is embarrassing in your story. A man met you and probably became interested in you, now he's met your friend and his interest seems to have shifted from you to your friend. I'm sorry, but why are you embarrassed? Embarrassed for him or for yourself? If it's for yourself(most likely), it's uncalled for. His interest in your friend doesn't make you any less attractive or worth it. It simply means HE'S NOT FOR YOU. You can ask your friend's permission to give him her number. If she's interested in him, she'd probably agree and then let them take it off from there while you calmly move aside. I don't know why some women get jealous or angry or even defensive when a guy shows interest in another person that's not them. Some men have met their wives this same way- going for a particular person, and through that person gets to meet the one who would eventually become their wife. If he's not for you, he's not for you. Don't sweat it. This your topic isn't even supposed to be a topic. No offence. Don't let him think you are a desperate person.

Mr Man, I'd be tempted to say YOU are the one who is daft and unreasonable because you are acting exactly as I described in my post- name calling and spewing insults. Pls stop it for your own good. No offence intended. You can certainly make your point without acting uneducated. Thanks.

As for the OCDA Chairman saying he acted on the governor's orders, why don't you find out why it was directed for the poster to be removed? Rochas Okorocha gave a reply today concerning the rules governing how and where posters should be displayed in Imo state. The law had been there in a long while- why don't you find out why other posters of the opposition parties are not removed. Don't look for the slightest opportunity to deride anyone.
PoliticsRe: Rochas Indicted In The Destruction Of PDP Campaign Billboards (Pictures) by Wislet(f): 8:39am On Jan 17, 2015
HAVING OBSERVED THIS PLACE IN A WHILE, I'VE COME TO THINK THERE ARE ANTI-ROCHAS PEOPLE PLANTED ON NAIRALAND. Because I fail to see how any sane person can look at those pictures and say Rochas himself gave the directive to have any poster removed. The same Rochas that have swallowed a lot of insult from oppositions and yet allows them to freely campaign in the state? PEOPLE HAVE BEEN PAID TO SPEND SLEEPLESS NIGHTS ON NAIRALAND AND CREATE MULTIPLE IDs TO DETRACT ANYTHING CONCERNING THE IMO STATE GOVERNOR. It's amazing how a new visitor to Imo State will admire in no small measure projects he sees on ground, yet you'll hear someone saying he has done nothing when both of you are standing on the same ground looking at said projects!. It's really confusing how Imo state indigenes keep thanking God for Rochas and are unendingly happy about what they see accomplished in the state, yet you find some strange people detracting him at every turn. Who is lying.....the people that see and know he has done a lot or those that keep saying he has done nothing?
Politics seems to be a really dirty game in this country, where opposition parties would rather die than commend an opponent for job well done.
PDP in Imo state seem to have nothing else to do than spend sleepless nights looking for something new to condemn Rochas about.

Pls, anyone that hasn't been to Imo state in recent times but is on this thread insulting Rochas, you are not acting educated. Let us stop behaving like dunces and illiterates by jumping on threads with false/half-baked information about anybody and outrightly raining insults on them. And you find it's people that supposedly are 'educated' that do this. It has become a very bad habit for people to look at thread topics, read the first few comments and then follow the line of those comments! The leading comments in every thread on this site seems to set the tone for how the other comments would look like! People just become 'oh yes' members with nothing meaningful to contribute. Which educated people do that? You just concur with what others say without using your own brains...why then were you given that brain? if you were asked to defend your statements with concrete evidences and undeniable argument, you cannot. On top of that, many are too lazy to read... even a 50-worded passage.
Before you hate someone, go and be a live witness to what the person is said to be or said not to be. Don't stay on your keyboard and display the dismaying possibility that you could be an 'educated illiterate!'. No offence intended. Goodness me, Nigerians change, pls! It would do you a lot of good. Let people not think there are many psychiatric patients, with the way we rain insults on personalities, comment unintelligently with zero evidence, and distribute hate freely. It is not the Nigerian spirit.

PoliticsRe: No Governor Can Take Credit For Wining Ebola War – Jonathan by Wislet(f): 8:15am On Oct 17, 2014
WHY ARE YOU GUYS OBSESSED WITH WHO TAKES CREDIT FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS?

In a situation like this, Everyone should do everything they can to contain it and prevent its spread with selflessness, because it concerns EVERYBODY.

No one should be thinking of getting accolade for it. After all, if it gets to anyone close to you, or is prevalent in your environment(every place you will go) YOU TOO would be at risk. So who thinks of praises in such situations?

GOD should be the one person getting the praise if we're looking to whom to ascribe it. He gave us all the wisdom to act fast, gave the first doctor and hospital with whom it all started the discipline to be adamant, unrelenting and uncompromising(something some people think Nigerians can't be). Made churches to obey and adhere to the 'no holy communion' and other avoidable close contacts during worship. The warnings could have been dismissed, but they weren't.

Enough awareness campaigns over the radio, the TV, internet. Local jingle in our rural communities.

It is by His grace the first victim in Nigeria was kept under surveillance even against his wish, instead of being ignored like I read the first U.S victim was ignored when he went to report at the hospital there and only given antibiotics.

So, if we all are looking for whom to praise, PRAISE GOD! Give Him all the accolade.

If it was by the strength of man, let what Liberia, the U.S (where they're looking for over 100 passengers who were on the same flight with a victim) are seeing today stop us in our tracks with this self-praise.

It came, Nigeria has conquered. Instead of being on alert now even more than ever, and keep practising all the preventive measures, (it is still prevalent in countries around you, it is not extinct)), we are looking for praises.

Don't go back to living a careless lifestyle. It must never find its way back in Nigeria. Let us all be on our toes and be uncompromising. And keep praying for those countries crying because of it. That is what we should be doing and not behave as if it doesn't concern us anymore.

Because of praise we want to insult our president, or any of the governors(depending on your leaning). Does it show we are smart?
