I think sometimes koreans overhype certain actors for various reasons.

I don't do sentiments when I'm rating acting prowess.

Being a 'flower boy' is different from an actor who can actually act to save his life.

As far as I'm concerned, Lee Min Ho is overhyped, because I've seen same age, younger actors than him who act so much better than he does.

For instance, Ji Chang Wook, Kim Woo Bin, Lee Jong Suk, Lee Jun Ki, Yoo Seung Ho, and some others are better actors than Lee Min Ho. City Hunter Remains his best drama till today. Overhyping makes Organisers give this guy undeserved awards just because they want to draw crowd. He did not act better than Kim Woo Bin in 'The Heirs'. Kim Woo Bin was and still is a scene stealer.
This is my unbiased opinion.

A great actor is known when even his slight body movement speaks. Not every acting is verbal- facial expression, body language, even the eyes alone speak.

If I were a Director, Lee Min Ho would have to up his ante to make my cut.

It's a good thing Park Shin Hye seems to have improved very much in her acting(cos she was seriously overhyped). Maybe it's her having met someone like Lee Jong Suk(school 2013, I Hear Your Voice, Doctor Stranger) that did it. This guy carries away awards every drama he touches. Their Pinocchio outing was Daebak.
She acted dismally beside Lee Min Ho in a drama I still don't understand how people praise it ( The Heirs).

I'd like to see Min Ho in a drama better than City Hunter.

@ Wislet Lol @ my shinning girl. I have not watch all apart from Empress Ki which is a lovely film. I actually like Tal Tal character. Empress Ki and him would have been the best couple cos of their chemistry even the writers thought so. But because she already has two lovers they cancelled it.

My other best films ( films I can re-watch without getting tired) are:
1. Faith
2. Secret love affair
3. Dae Jeum geum (wrong spelling I know)

The film has no sword fight. It mainly drama with some strong genius instrumentalist moments. Honestly, I love it.

Really? Now, that's interesting.

I like dramas that border on the intellectual or are detective-like. That's why I liked HEALER(have you watched it)? It's great.

Do you know more like Healer or that have the description above?

Everyone of the actors you've mentioned have at least one drama they flopped in. It's just that Ahn Jae Hyeon happened to have it with his very first major role. At least he does have star quality and made some fans around the world esp among the younger generation.

Ok...ok...if it's his first major role.

Still.....it was not applaudable. He NEEDS to take some major lessons if he must go far; his facial expressions are bland, he needs to be able to 'speak' without words(body language) and he needs to immerse himself in his role, not just reading the script and waiting for the Director's 'Action!' Command.

These qualities separate class actors from those just there to fill in. One thing about korean actors is that some of them are overhyped, and it's going to destroy them in the long run- when you don't criticize that acror/actress you like but defend them blindly, you are doing them harm, not good.

Not being hard on him. He t...r...I...e...d. But if his next drama doesn't come out much better than BLOOD, then...........

Wow! As long as the drama is interesting, I like the actors, and it isn't more than 24 episodes -except for Family dramas and E. Ki- I go for it.


I guess you're right, the networks are being careful. A good script can be a flop if the actors can't interpret it on screen.
AJH had little or no experience before being thrust into Blood, and the drama/ role he played wasn't exactly the normal guy-next-door kind. Still he gave his best shot, and therefore, I cut him some slack.
I'm looking forward to the Cinderella thingy - though I kinda have an idea of your dramas.

BLOOD really was a dismal performance. His co-actor Go Hye Sun's acting was below par too. I've begun to wonder if she can act....after overacting in Boys Before Flowers, her BLOOD role was pathetic. Lol

I like that idea, that the networks don't want to be left out of a popular concept...no wonder after Boys over Flowers everyone started making rich guy poor girl dramas....I'm preparing a blog about that. My top five Cinderella kdramas....

Whether actors go for military service or not, if an upcoming actor is not good he's just not good enough. No need for them praying for Lee Min ho and the rest to go for service...because some of these minor actors just don't have the star quality to pull fans or ratings. I will sha give someone at least one chance ---- like Ahn Jae hyeon, I wanted so bad for him to make it and he tried his best anyway (in Blood). But he shouldn't have borrowed so heavily from Kim So Hyun's You from the Stars role.

Lee Min ho, Lee Jong suk, Kim Woo Bin, Kim So Hyun etc presence have nothing to do with other actors not making headway. Even if they go for military service, it might still remain the same.

Ahn jae hyun for example needs to take some lessons in acting. His performance in BLOOD was dismal.

Healer - spy thriller romance with feels feels feels. Ji Chang Wook starring

Which korean drama(s) have you watched and how interesting were they based on:

1.The compatibility of lead actors- sometimes a good drama would be decimated by the choice of its lead; incompatible male and female leads(no chemistry or sync whatsoever) or they can't act to save their lives.

2. Storyline- how interesting is the story? Does it drag to fill in time or is it fast paced and engaging?

3. Delivery- does it keep you glued to your seat from beginning to end or do you sigh from boredom and remember how much money you just wasted purchasing it? Lol.

I'll start:
Honestly, I decided to take a break from korean dramas and go back to English movies/drama. Left watching new movies for a long while, then took a stroll to the movie shop for English movies. As I was perusing which movie(s) to buy, my hand touched a drama I'd heard about long before I bought it. I couldn't remember the storyline but I remembered the many commendations and applaud it received, and funny enough it was a korean drama (aish!). Just when I ALMOST gave it a break, why did I have to see this one? Lol. Of course I had to buy it to see what the praise was all about..........and I must say I've watched it 3-4 times. You just don't get tired of it. It's that interesting.

The drama title is HEALER.

The lead actor is Ji Chang Wook who acted as Emperor Togon in the award winning drama 'Empress ki' which many of us can attest to he did an e.x.c.e.l.l.e.n.t job. Not only did that guy win an award in the middle of filming Empress ki, but he has done it again by collecting another award in the middle of filming HEALER. Plus he won best couple award with the Healer female lead. The chemistry in this drama is great. That guy's become one of my favourite k-actors. Lol.

So yeah, HEALER it is. If you've not seen it, you should.

Another drama I've heard about is PINOCCHIO. Who has seen it? It's rating is high too (it has no choice actually cos the male lead is Lee Jong Suk, the male lead in award winning drama 'I Hear Your Voice'. This guy's winning awards in every drama he picks.

I chanced upon BLOOD, but I must say I'm very disappointed with their choice of actors. Both male and female leads spoilt the good storyline with their poor acting: no chemistry, poor facial expressions, poor delivery!

Forgive me I have to pick this one out since it interest me most. Given that I have seen this remark more often than I have seen a Fulani man without his stick and cow. As long as Lagos remain the commercial hub of Nigeria Igbo people and other tribes will keep flooding to Lagos. Just like it happens else where in the world. It is something both the Yoruba and every other Nigerians have to deal with.

Same way if Abuja/Anambra/ Cross River/Abia/ Akwa Ibom etc becomes the commercial hub of Nigeria, people will troop there en masse to work.

It's not about Lagos. That's where some people get it wrong. Lagos due to its ports and having been Nigeria's capital enjoys certain privileges. If Anambra or Enugu should overtake Lagos tomorrow, it's the same people that say 'Leave our land' that'll watch in dismay as people leave en masse.

When South East is mentioned, ALL the states ARE recognized. Abia state has NEVER been in the background. It is very popular. Ebonyi on the other hand might be least mentioned because it is a very quiet state.

The fact that a few singers mentioned the places they recollect/have relations living in does NoT mean the others are not important. How on earth do a few singers become the people's mouthpiece? It's their song.
