Right now Upwork is a buyers market, which means lower bids and less income for them. They are probably trying to remove those that dont have active contracts from their platform or dont have any level of rating.

I believe this is just a short term strategy to create an artificial strategy that will drive prices up. It really has nothing to do with your friend, he is just a victim of a marketing strategy.

However, he can always reapply, unfortunately, his reviews and feedback will be lost.

Your friend can actually appeal this decision by stating that he recently completed two projects, successfully, and he's also on the verge of closing some deals.

He should also state that he's currently upgrading his skills which will result in some certification and skill upgrade to better serve the Upwork community.

I suppose Upwork is clamping down on the number of freelancers...It out numbers the buyers quite much.

The secret is to constantly up one's game through better proposition, skills upgrade and industry awareness.

Fashola's work is enough to fill more than 10 pages on NL, but Ambode's work can not fill 1 single page.

Fashola's work goes beyond overhead bridge and basic roads which so far is Ambode's preoccupation which is very basic and non ground breaking per Lagos standard, but no governor in Nigeria past or present can overtake Fashola's achievements because his body of work was very comprehensive and across the board.
