An unidentified man has lost his life in a fatal car accident while returning from his wedding introduction. The tragic incident occurred yesterday at Igbogiri, Edo state.

Sharing the graphic photos on Facebook, Sunny Agali wrote;

I’m appealing to the Federal government of Nigeria to as a matter of urgency come to the aid of commuters. The various degrees of damaged portions of the Lagos Benin/Asaba highway has caused several accidents & lost of lives, this one just happened yesterday afternoon at Igbogiri, Edo state. The victims were said to be heading to benin, as they were returning from a marriage introduction, what a life?

According to an online report, a heartless Nigerian woman inflicted injuries on her maid in Lagos by throwing her down from the second floor of a building.

An online user, Francesca Joseph-Ezenwa shared the story on Facebook.

She shared pictures and wrote;

The photos have been trending with many suggesting that the madam should be dealt with.

Diamond Bank has said it would sell its West African banking operations in Benin, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal to focus on the Nigerian retail banking opportunity.

The bank said that the company banking operations in the four West African countries would be sold to Manzi Finances S.A, a Cote d’Ivoire financial services holding company.

The bank, in a statement on Friday, said that regulatory approvals for the transactions had been obtained in all jurisdictions anticipated to close before Dec. 31, 2017.

“By focusing its resources exclusively on Nigeria, Diamond Bank is poised to capitalise on the positive macro fundamentals inherent in the Nigerian market.

“These include Africa’s largest economy and evolving socio-economic trends driven by changing lifestyle preferences in favour of mobile delivered services and a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship”, it said.

Mr Uzoma Dozie, the bank’s Chief Executive Officer, was quoted as saying that time had come for the bank to fully apply its resources to Nigeria after 18 years of building franchise in other markets.

“This is aligned with Diamond Bank’s strategic objective: to be the fastest growing and most profitable technology-driven retail banking franchise in Nigeria.

“We are prioritising the Nigerian market because of its vast potential.

“A large segment of the population is underbanked or unbanked and the use of technology and mobile banking is rising exponentially.

“This provides Diamond Bank with the opportunity to reach millions of people, and facilitate financial inclusion on an exceptional scale,” Dozie said.

He said that the bank already had a foundation for growth in Nigeria with over 15 million customers.

“We also have a framework in Nigeria that will allow us to scale rapidly, efficiently and cost effectively.

“In part this is due to our digitally-led approach which has reduced the need to have a network of physical branches to service customers.

“Fundamentally this strategy stands to benefit all our key stakeholders – shareholders, customers and employees – in the immediate, medium and long term,” he added.

A yet to be identified man was shot dead by some police officers at Tarzan junction, Nkpor along the popular Enugu-Onitsha expressway on Friday October 20th. A statement released by the command, says a Police patrol team on stop and search duties stopped the driver of a suspected Camry Vehicle for routine check. However, the driver failed to stop as directed. He was chased by the police team from Dennis memorial Grammar School (DMGS) roundabout, Onitsha and subsequently accosted at Tarzan Junction, Nkpor as a result of traffic build-up. In a bid to search the vehicle properly, a melee ensued and the driver was shot by Police. Unfortunately, the driver died on the spot. A thorough search of the vehicle revealed fifteen (15) bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.

A mob set ablaze security pick-up van that was seen approaching the junction. The driver of the vehicle escaped unhurt. Sadly, a motor boy on an approaching trailer vehicle on sighting the angry mob jumped down from the trailer and lost his life at the spot. He was reported to have been crushed to death by a hit and run vehicle. All the police Officers involved in this unfortunate incident are in custody and undergoing interrogation.

Some miscreants unaware of the true facts behind the incident took advantage of the situation and gathered up for a mob action. The Command wishes to use this medium to warn against spreading false rumors targeted to heat up the polity as the incident has no connection with Any Political Party/activities.
