A Nigerian man has been arrested for cloning debit cards of over 100 people and withdrawing money fraudulently from their accounts. The victims had swiped their cards at ATMs in upscale south Delhi colonies.

The man identified as Kingsley had a unique modus operandi. Police said he would identify an ATM kiosk that didn't have a security guard around. He would go inside, rip open the card swiping slot of the machine and place a scanner behind it.

Black tape would hold the device in place. Next, Kingsley would place a camera somewhere on the machine so that its focus would be on the keypad. Whenever an ATM user swiped his card, the scanner would capture the details while the camera would record the PIN as the customer keyed it in.

Once the customer stepped out, Kingsley would go inside, fetch the card reader and camera, and clone the card with the details. Then he would swipe the cloned card at other ATMs and withdraw money.

Command said on Monday, that 33 suspects have been arrested in connection with jungle justice. The state Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni said security forces would not hesitate to arrest, prosecute anyone who wants to turn the state into Banana Republic.

According to him, there was no justification for residents to mete out any form of punishment on any suspect without recourse to the rule of law.

He said: “On August 8, a distress call was received at Ijaiye Ojokoro Police Station that some people suspected to be ritualists/kidnappers were seen hiding in a canal at Obadeyi Bus Stop, along Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway.

The DPO led a team of policemen to the spot and on getting there, they met a large violent crowd trying to lynch the so called suspects. As the policemen were trying to rescue the alleged suspects, the crowd descended on them, beating and throwing stones at them.”

Owoseni said six policemen were arrested for extortion, attempted murder and defilement, adding that they would be prosecuted. Those arrested for extortion and armed robbery are – Sergeants Benjamin Oboh, Onyenedu Kennedy and Monday Ekhigato.

One Sergeant Sylvanus Emeche was nabbed for attempted murder after shooting a woman, Mrs. Oluchi Okafor and her children on July 24, at Ajao Estate.

A-38-years-old man identified as John, who resides at Otiya B in Otukpo was on the 12th of August, 2017 reported to the vigilante group at Igbanonmaje Otukpo after allegedly raping 3 of his older brother's children who are between the ages of 12, 10 and 8, Idomavoice reports.

It was gathered that the accused usually goes with the girls to the bush where he claims he wants them to assist him in fetching fire wood for their mother and then takes advantage of them.

The mother of the girls, who is said to be a nurse, reportedly, noticed certain changes in her children then examined them to know what has happened to them, after which the girls revealed what their uncle have been doing to them.

The family of the accused according to the local community security, said that they just want him to be thoroughly flogged and then sent back to his village in Ado LGA of Benue state

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a fake corps member at the NYSC orientation camp in Nsit Atai LGA. The suspect, Justice Orlu Ordu, is an indigene of Ikwere in Rivers State.

On interrogation, he admitted of being a fake corps member who forged NYSC call-up letter claiming to have graduated from the University of Uyo's Department of Architecture. He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.

Team Nigeria Return Home from Continental Gymnastics Championship Due to Lack of Funds

The Nigerian team have been forced to cut short their participation at the African All-Stars Gymnastics tournament in Pretoria in South Africa after running out of funds. The Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria sent eight women and four men gymnasts to the competition.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Tony Asuquo, who is the coach of the team, told reporters in Abuja on Wednesday that they decided to return home from South Africa on Tuesday because of money.

“We travelled with 13 gymnasts for the event and we participated in the games from August 2 to 6 and won two gold and nine bronze. We would have stayed for another event but couldn’t due to insufficient funds. Money used was provided by parents of the gymnasts and sponsors.”

The FG should support and recognise these gymnasts and not just footballers all the time. We went to represent Nigeria and not our families.“We have been winning medals and breaking records and are yet to be invited for recognition.“

At least scholarships should be awarded to the children and this will go a long way to encourage their parents to send them out to the gym for trainings.”

Investigators at the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Lagos Command, are working to unravel circumstances surrounding the death of a woman allegedly beaten to death by her 42-year-old husband, penultimate , at Oko-oba area of Lagos State. .

The suspect, John Owobi, is currently being detained by detectives at the SCID, Panti, Yaba, for murder, after allegedly committing the act and forcing his three kids to tell neighbours that their mother died after drinking Snipper, a poisonous insecticide.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami, said the lifeless body of the deceased, Theresa, was found lying on the floor of their room and parlor self-contained at No. 42, Musiliu Street, Oko-oba area of Lagos by neighbours.

To cover up his track, the suspect was said to have persuaded his children not to say anything contrary to what he had told their landlord. A source at SCID revealed that the neighbours were attracted to the scene by the persistent cry for help from the deceased on the day she died, though the suspect had told his neighbours that his wife of about 15 years died after she drank poison.

The suspect further alleged that he had earlier tried to prevent his wife from committing suicide, but that he was shocked hours later when he discovered that she had gulped a full bottle of Snipper.

Luck, however, ran against the suspect, when his three children insisted that their dad had actually instructed them to say that their mum died after drinking insecticide.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olarinde Famous-Cole, who confirmed the incident, said an autopsy conducted on the woman revealed that the deceased suffered internal injuries and fractures from the beating she received.

He said: “The suspect killed his wife and still went to the station to report that the deceased was found lying dead on the floor in their room. He claimed that his wife drank Snipper, but investigation revealed that the suspect beat up the wife to death.”

The Lagos State police on Wednesday, August 8, rescued a young man allegedly chained for more that one year in Lagos, Channels Television reports.

He was said to have been kept under lock by his 85-year old grandmother. It was gathered that the victim has mental issues. However, the area commander for the Area D police station condemned the action.

A South Africa minister has apologized after being accused of beating up a woman called him gay. Deputy Education Minister Mduduzi Manana was Cubana nightclub near Johannesburg when the woman made the ‘accusation’.

Manana has said sorry for the ‘shameful incident’. He said while he was provoked, he ‘should have exercised restraint’. A police spokesperson has confirmed to Agence France-Presse they were investigating the incident, which took place at 3am on Sunday morning.

A tape recording leaked to the press is allegedly between the victim’s brother and Manana. In the tape, the person alleged to be the minister admits to slapping the victim when she called her gay.

However, a reporter who claims to have witnessed the assault said it was it was far more extreme. SABC journalist Lumko Jimlongo said the victim was attacked as she walked towards the exit. ‘She fell on the floor,’ Kimlongo said.

‘He proceeded to trample [her]…and his foot was on her head.’ The extent of the woman’s injuries are unknown. ‘That shameful incident should not have happened,’ says deputy minister

‘That shameful incident should not have happened,’ Manana said in a statement. ‘I know that my actions and those of the people in my company have disappointed and hurt many people in the country. As a leader‚ I should have known better and acted better.

‘I will subject myself fully to the process of the law and give it my full co-operation’. Manana addressed his apology ‘to the victim, her family… and all South Africans’ and explained he hoped he would be able to speak to her personally to ‘address the harm that has occurred’.

Afeez Ayo was arrested for stealing a customer’s 2008 Toyota Highlander SUV and taking it to Lagos. Ayo, a holder of an Ordinary National Diploma, was said to have changed the number plate of the vehicle and driven it to Ibadan from where he picked four passengers en route to Lagos.

According to Punchng, the suspect was arrested at Agodi Junction, Ibadan. The owner of the SUV, Mrs. Adenike Sani, had left the car with Ayo at a car wash at the Apo Resettlement Centre, Abuja, only for him to disappear with the vehicle.

Detectives were said to have tracked the vehicle to Oyo State where it was recovered and the suspect apprehended. Ayo revealed he stole the SUV to get back at the management of the car wash facility for planning to relieve him of his job.

The 23-year-old said he conveyed four passengers to Lagos from Ibadan and charged them N500 each to raise money to fuel the SUV. Asked how he managed to beat the many security checkpoints on the highway, Ayo explained that he refused to stop when waved down by policemen.

The police advise motorists against leaving their car keys with car wash attendants, noting that incidents of car theft were on the rise.

A 78 year-old man, Alhaji Isa Musa, has blamed hunger and poverty for his decision to engage in buying and selling stolen motorcycles. Speaking to Punchng while being paraded at the Police headquarters in Bauchi on Friday, Musa said he started the illegal business in 2011.

The resident of Bakin Kura said he had operated a provision store at the Muda Laval market but the business became distressed and he could no longer feed his large family of three wives, 35 children and 18 grandchildren.

“I had a provision shop in Mud Laval market but all the goods got finished because I used the proceeds to feed my family. I started buying and selling stolen motorcycles because of hunger and poverty,” he said.

Asked if he had no mature offspring to support him, he said none of his children could support him because they were not buoyant. The suspect said he gave a motorcycle to one of his children to transport himself to school.

The Septuagenarian expressed regrets over his action and pleaded with the authorities to pardon him, saying he was diabetic. He said, “I am suffering from diabetes and I need to treat myself, I beg the police authorities to pardon me.

Although, I’ve been doing this illegal business for six years now, if they pardon me, I promise and assure them that this will be my last.” Musa also confessed to have sold Indian hemp in the past six years “but I stopped dealing in drugs about four years ago.” He warned those engaged in such illegal business to desist and repent.

A Nigerian man, Mr. Osaji Charles who died a cruel death just few days to his graduation from Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe area of Anambra state has been buried in his cult regalia.

Mr Osaji Charles, former Mr NASELS (2013/2014 session), was shot dead by unknown cultists on the 19th of July, 2017.

It has now been confirmed that Charles was a cultist before his death. This came after his gang members attended his burial. Charles was also buried in his cult regalia.

A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the permanent forfeiture to the FG of a $37.5million Banana Island property bought in 2013 by former Minister of Petroleum Resources Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

A vacation judge, Justice Chuka Obiozor, made the order yesterday following a motion on notice argued by EFCC. The judge also ordered that $2.7m and N84.5m realised as rent on the property be permanently forfeited to the government.

Justice Obizor, on July 19, directed the EFCC to temporarily seize the property designated as Building 3, Block B, Bella Vista Plot 1, Zone N, FG Layout, Banana Island Foreshore Estate, consisting of 24 apartments, 18 flats and six penthouses.

The court directed that the temporary forfeiture order be published in a newspaper and adjourned till yesterday for anyone interested in the property and funds to appear and convince it why they should not be permanently forfeited.

During proceedings yesterday, EFCC counsel Anselem Ozioko told Justice Obiozor that the publication order had been complied with. He noted that despite going the extra length to personally serve the second and third respondents in the case Afamefuna Nwokedi and a company, Rusimpex Limited, they did not show up in court to contest the forfeiture order.

The EFCC had earlier told the judge that the Banana Island property was reasonably suspected to have been acquired with proceeds of unlawful activities by Mrs. Alison-Madeueke.

The anti-graft agency said its investigations revealed that she bought the property sometime in 2013 for $37.5m, which she paid in cash. According to the EFCC, the $37.5m was moved straight from the former minister’s house in Abuja and paid into the selller’s First Bank account in Abuja.

“Nothing could be more suspicious than someone keeping such huge amounts in her apartment. Why was she doing that? To avoid attention. We are convinced beyond reasonable doubt because as of the time this happened, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke was still in public service as the Minister of Petroleum Resources,” the EFCC lawyer, Ozioko, had told Justice Obiozor.
