Success Is A Decision

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success (Joshua 1:8 NKJV).

Success begins with a decision to succeed. In turn, that decision will produce an unwavering commitment to do what it takes to do two things.

The first is to discover the spiritual laws relevant to your challenge. Simply put, this means to get wisdom: “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom” (Proverbs 4:7 NKJV). The second is to diligently apply these laws and wisdom through to complete victory.

God’s will for you is success, but success doesn’t just happen. That’s why He shows you in His Word how to make things happen.

If you do not believe and act according to His Word, there is nothing He can do about it. However, when you do your part, He has to do His part. I like to say it this way: We get to do the easy part and God gets to do the impossible part.

For example, the Bible says, “Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant” (Matthew 20:26 NKJV). In other words, you can’t promote yourself; only God can make it happen. But you can make the decision to succeed by getting wisdom and then acting on the Word by choosing to become a servant.

When you make the decision to apply the Word of God to your situation, God promises that you will make your way prosperous and have good success.

Confession: I made the decision to succeed today. I make an unwavering commitment to do what it takes to get wisdom concerning the spiritual laws relevant to my challenge, and then to apply them through to complete victory.

Don’t Be a Know-It-All

Hearing and reading the truth in God’s written Word helps keep us stable through the storms of life. It never changes or wavers in its intent for us, and the message of God’s love never changes. Even if His Word doesn’t speak specifically to the details of our situation, it always speaks accurately of God’s heart and character, and reassures us that He’ll always take care of us and make a way for us. That alone makes it worth studying!

The Word teaches that our knowledge in this life is fragmented, incomplete, and imperfect. According to 1 Corinthians 13:9, we know only “in part” (NKJV). This tells me there will never be a time in our lives when we can honestly say, “I know everything I need to know.” Go to God in humility and be hungry to learn from His Word. Ask Him daily to teach you what you should do in each situation you’re facing, and receive the Holy Spirit as your Teacher. When you do, He will lead you into all truth, revealing things to you that you could never figure out on your own (see John 16:13). I’ve decided to be a lifetime learner and student of God’s Word, and I strongly encourage you to do the same—you won’t regret it!

Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for the gift of Your Word. Today I invite You, Holy Spirit, to teach me, to reveal truth to me, and to open my eyes more and more to the beauty of who Jesus is. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Don’t Fear Trouble

Yet man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
Job 5:7

Recommended Reading: Isaiah 50:7

One of the most iconic images to come out of the 2001 attack on the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers was this: One group of people was running away from the towers and another group of people was running toward the towers. Those running away were citizens trying to save their lives; those running toward the towers were fire fighters trying to save the lives of others.

Naturally, many of us fear trouble to one degree or another. But some people don’t, especially those called to a mission. Trouble deters most people, but it is an obstacle to be overcome for others. Jesus was a good example of the latter. Described as the “Servant of the Lord” in Isaiah 42, the Messiah would “set [His] face like a flint” and not be deterred by the troubles He would face (Isaiah 50:7). When Jesus fulfilled the Servant’s role, “He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem” (Luke 9:51). Why? Because He knew God would help Him; that He would not be disgraced or ashamed (Isaiah 50:7).

Do you fear trouble? Don’t! Better to be with God in trouble than to be without trouble and without God.

Down through the centuries in times of trouble…God has brought courage to the hearts of those who love Him.

You Are the Place of Prayer

Under the Old Covenant, the temple was the house of God, the place of prayer for His people, the children of Israel. The temple had three compartments, one of which was the Holy of Holies, which held the presence of God. Amazingly, now our renewed and sanctified spirit—the core of who we are—is the place where He makes His home!

Under the New Covenant, the apostle Paul tells us that God’s presence is now a mystery revealed as Christ in us, “the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Because of the relationship you now have with Christ, you can be close to God because you’re now His living temple. You are a home for the Holy Spirit, a building still under construction, but nonetheless His house. Paul spends a lot of time encouraging us to live a holy life, because we are the temple of God.

While the children of Israel had to go to a specific place and follow detailed instructions to worship God, we have the incredible privilege of worshipping Him anywhere and at any time, so we are actually houses of prayer. We are always close to God because He dwells in us!

Prayer Starter: Father, please give me the ability to live a holy life, and teach me how to care for my spirit, soul and body, since I’m Your living temple. Thank You for making Your home in me! In Jesus’ name, amen.

Religion / Joyce Meyer Devotional February 16 2021 – Doing The Word by Wolfmansion: 6:33pm On Feb 16, 2021
Doing the Word

As a Christian, for a long time I didn’t understand that believers could know what God wanted them to do and then deliberately say no. Now, I’m not talking about those who completely turn their backs on Jesus and want nothing to do with salvation. I’m talking about those who disobey God in the seemingly little things and don’t seem to be concerned about it at all.

In verses 23 and 24, James goes on to say that if we only listen to the Word but don’t obey it, it’s like looking at our reflection in a mirror and then going away and forgetting what we saw. But a doer of the Word, he says, is like one who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience) (See James 1:25 AMPC).

Whenever Christians are faced with God’s Word, and it calls them to action but they refuse to obey, their own human reasoning is often the cause. They’ve deceived themselves into believing something other than the truth. It’s as if they think they are smarter than God.

I’ve met people who seem to think that God always wants them to feel good, and if something happens that makes them feel bad, they don’t believe it’s God’s will for them. Or they dismiss what they read in the Bible by saying, “That doesn’t make sense.”

One woman, referring to Paul’s instruction to “be unceasing in prayer” (1 Thessalonians 5:17), said that verse kept coming to her every time she prayed.

“What do you think that means?” I asked her.

“Oh, I think it means that day in and day out, we are to pray when we feel a need or when we want something.”

Her words shocked me. “What about fellowship with the Lord?” I asked. “Isn’t that a good reason? Or maybe God just wants you to spend time reading His Word and praying about what you read.”

“I have too many things to do,” she said. “That’s fine for people who like to sit and read and pray for hours every day, but that’s not the way for me.”

In our brief conversation, I learned that her decisions about obeying God’s Word depended on whether or not it was convenient for her lifestyle. When she read things in the Bible that didn’t fit with the way she lived, she explained it to herself in such a way that she convinced herself God didn’t expect her to do that.

In contrast, I remember a very dignified woman who had been a member of a traditional church most of her life. She often spoke of the noise and confusion in charismatic churches (although she’d never been to one). Then she visited one of the services where I spoke, and her heart was changed. “I couldn’t believe that God would ask me to do something like clap my hands or sing loudly or even shout. But when I saw the joy on the faces of those in the congregation and heard you quote the Bible verse that commands us to clap our hands and shout, what else could I do? That was God speaking to me.”

She had exactly the right attitude. She didn’t try to reason it out, or wonder why God had told her to take that kind of action. She believed His Word and simply obeyed, and as a result, she had a new kind of joy that she would never have experienced otherwise.

When the Bible speaks about obeying the Lord, it’s not a suggestion. His Word doesn’t ask, “Would you like to obey?” God commands us to take action by being a doer of His Word, and when we are obedient, He’s promised that we’ll be blessed.

Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for the instructions in Your Word. I may not always like what I read, and sometimes it’s difficult to follow You without hesitating, so please help me to trust You with what I don’t understand, and to stay obedient no matter what. Thank You for the wisdom to know how to apply Your Word to my life, for the strength to carry it out, and for the ability to honor You in every moment. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Payback Is Coming

Today’s Scripture
Hebrews 10:30, TLB
For we know him who said, Justice belongs to me; I will repay them.
Today’s Word
We all go through unfair situations. We were overlooked for a promotion, we came down with an illness, or somebody walked out of a relationship. It’s easy to get discouraged and think, That’s life. It’s just a bad break. Nothing I can do about it. You may not be able to, but God can. He’s a God of justice. He has seen everything you’ve gone through, every person who did you wrong, every tear, every lonely night. It may not have been fair, but don’t worry because payback is coming. God is going to make up for the wrongs that were done. Don’t be bitter toward the people who put you at a disadvantage or be thinking you have to get even. It’s not your battle; the battle is the Lord’s. He’ll not only take care of your opposition, He’ll make it up to you. You’re on His payroll. He knows what you’re owed, and nobody can pay you back like He can.

Prayer for Today

Father, thank You that You are a God of justice, and You keep the records. Thank You that You’ve seen everything I’ve gone through, and payback is coming. I believe that this battle is not for me to fight and I can leave it in Your hands. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Let God Strengthen You

We need to be strengthened and renewed on a daily basis, physically, mentally, and emotionally. It’s important for us to be prepared and strong so we don’t fall apart every time we have to face an unexpected test.

Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and He is always there to help us develop stability. When we go to Him for support—acknowledging that He’s our Source of strength—He gives us the comfort our hearts need, the wisdom to make right decisions, and the strength to do what He’s asked us to do (see 2 Corinthians 1:3-4; James 1:5; Philippians 2:13; 4:13).

The more we walk with Him, the more He restores and renews us from the inside out, and the more ready we are for each new challenge.

Prayer Starter: Lord, thank You for providing the strength I need to grow and be prepared for the things I’ll face today. You’re my one and only Source, so please help me always remember to look to You for strength instead of relying on myself. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Religion / Joel Osteen Devotional January 29 2021 – Abundant Rain by Wolfmansion: 3:00pm On Jan 29, 2021
Abundant Rain

Today’s Scripture
Psalm 68:9, NIV
You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance.
Today’s Word
It’s easy to lose our passion for life. At one time we loved to laugh, looked forward to the day, were believing for our dreams, but when things didn’t work out as we thought, we came into a dry place and life lost its flavor. You smile, but there’s no joy behind it. Sometimes we’re dry because we’re tired, the challenges have taken longer than we thought, and it seems we’ll never overcome them. We can be dry because somebody did us wrong, and instead of letting it go, we’ve become bitter.
You may feel the blahs, but this is when you have to take control of your thought life. That’s where the battle is taking place. God sees what you’re going through, and He’s about to give you an abundance of strength, joy, health, and resources. You’re coming out of that dry place into more than enough. Get your hopes up. Start expecting the abundant rain. That’s the way our God is.

Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You are not limited by the dry places in which I sometimes find myself. Thank You that You see what I’m going through, and You’re sending the rain with overflow and abundance. I believe the victories in my past are going to pale in comparison to the victories in my future. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Theme – Awesome Power

Today’s Scripture
Exodus 34:10, NIV
“Before all your people I will do wonders never before done in any nation in all the world. The people you live among will see how awesome is the work that I, the LORD, will do for you.”
Today’s Word
When you believe that God wants to show out in your life, you have the boldness to ask Him to display His awesome power through you. It’s good to read about His power, to talk about it, to remember it, but God wants you to experience it. God says He is about to display awesome power through you. “Awesome”means it’s not going to be ordinary or natural, but supernatural. He’s going to do something unprecedented, something that makes you stand out, something where there’s no explanation for it but God’s power.
God will make you an example of His goodness to show those around you that He is God. People are going to see His favor–the healing, the protection, the promotion, the abundance. Not only are you going to be amazed, but they’re going to be amazed. God is not going to do it in secret. He’s going to make a public display of His power through you.

Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You want to do great things in my life so You will be glorified as the God who is awesome in power. Thank You that others are going to see Your favor on me and know that You are with me. I believe that I am going to be amazed. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Get Up

Today’s Scripture

John 5:5, AMPC
There was a certain man there who had suffered with a deep-seated and lingering disorder for thirty-eight years.

Today’s Word

The man in John 5 is described as having a “lingering disorder.” It’s not just a physical condition; it’s when we dwell on the negative things of the past and make excuses to settle where we are. When Jesus asked this crippled man, “Do you want to get well?” the man responded with one excuse after another for why he hadn’t been healed. Those excuses had become a crutch. Jesus responded in effect, “If you’re serious about getting well, get up!”
How many of us would get out of defeat, mediocrity, and bad habits if we quit making excuses, quit feeling sorry for ourselves, and start pressing forward. We’ve all had unfair things happen that we can allow to become lingering disorders. But God is saying to you, “If you’re serious about getting well, you have to get up in your spirit, in your attitude, and in how you talk.” God’s waiting on you. When you get up, so to speak, you’ll see things begin to change.

Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for the power You have given me to release any old thinking, old habits, any excuses, and any lingering disorder that would keep me from being my best. I am serious about getting well by letting go of the old and embracing the new. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

We Shall All Be Changed

We all like “suddenlies,” and God promises that whatever remains to be accomplished in us will be done “suddenly” when Jesus returns to the earth.

Until then, we can confidently trust He is working in us through His Word and Spirit on a regular basis. If you are spending time in God’s word and believing He is doing work in you, then you are changing from one degree of glory to another.

You don’t have to be discouraged about your spiritual growth or in your walk with God, because no matter what remains to be done in the transformation of your old man into your new man, it will be finished at the appearing of Jesus in the heavenlies.

If the devil tries to tell you you’re going to stay the way you are forever, he is lying. God promises in His Word that He has begun a good work in you and He also will finish it (see Philippians 1:6).

Prayer Starter: Thank you, Lord, for Your faithfulness and I look forward to the day that I am suddenly transformed. In the meantime, help me stay the course and grow in faith and in Your love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Nothing Happens Until You Speak

Today’s Scripture
Psalm 107:2, NKJV
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy.
Today’s Word
In Luke 1, when an angel told Zechariah that his wife, Elizabeth, was going to have a baby, he said, “How can I be sure of this? We’re too old now.” The angel said, “It’s going to happen, but now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens.” That’s how powerful words are. God knew that if Zechariah went around speaking words of defeat, such as “This isn’t possible,” that would stop the promise.
God has spoken promises to your spirit that may seem impossible. Don’t talk yourself out of the miracle. Your words have creative power. When you speak something out, you’ve giving it the right to come to pass. It’s one thing to believe you’re healed, but when you say “I am healed,” that releases the healing. It’s not enough to just believe you have favor or that you’re going to fulfill your dreams. Nothing happens until you speak. Get in agreement with God. Dare to declare what He put in your heart.

Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for the promises You have spoken to my spirit. Thank You that I can speak words of faith that agree with Your promises and give them the right to come to pass. I will use my words to invite good things into my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Religion / Joyce Meyer Devotional January 19 2021 – A Confused Mind by Wolfmansion: 7:26pm On Jan 19, 2021
A Confused Mind

My friend Eva received a summons for jury duty in a robbery trial. For two days, twelve citizens listened to the prosecuting attorney as he presented evidence to indicate that the accused had broken into a home and stolen many items. Eva was ready to convict him.

On the third day, the defense attorney presented the other side of the picture. The more Eva listened, the more confused she became. What had seemed very obvious at first now seemed ambiguous and contradictory.

Although the jury did convict the man, Eva said she struggled over making the right decision. Each attorney, when he was speaking, had seemed to be the most convincing.

Many Christians live much the same way day to day. They have become what James calls double-minded. They’re sure of one thing until something else happens, and then they flip-flop to the opposite opinion.

In their double-mindedness, they flit from one opinion to the other. They’re sure they know what to do, and then they switch again. The moment they feel sure they have made the decision they plan to stick with, they begin to wonder if it was the correct one. They continually doubt and question their reasoning.

This kind of behavior is not the same as being open-minded. To be open-minded means we’re willing to hear all sides of an issue—like jurors should be at a trial. But eventually we have to sort through the evidence or the circumstances in life and say, “This is what I’m going to do.”

That sounds good, but too many people have trouble being decisive. “What if I make a mistake?” they ask. “What If I choose the wrong thing?” Those are legitimate questions, but they are not meant to paralyze God’s people and prevent them from acting. Too often, these are tools that Satan uses to distract and prevent Christians from taking action.

I’m an expert on this. For many years, I was that double-minded person James wrote about. I didn’t like being that way. It took so much energy to keep rethinking the same problems. But I was so afraid of making a mistake that I didn’t know how to make good decisions. It took a long time before I realized that the devil had declared war against me, and that my mind was his personal battlefield. At that moment of awareness, I felt totally confused about everything, and I didn’t understand why.

So many of God’s people are living exactly where I was then. They’re reasonable people. That is, they have the ability to figure out causes and relationships and reasons. They sincerely try to understand all the implications of a situation and then find the most sensible or logical solution by putting their reasoning ability to work.

Too often, this is where Satan sneaks in and steals the will of God from them. God may speak to them about doing a certain thing, and it may not always seem to be the most sensible course of action. This presents an opportunity for the devil to cause them to question—to become double-minded.

For example, sometimes I sense that God wants me to bless people by giving to them—often an item of jewelry or clothing. On occasion, God wants me to give away a new and fairly expensive dress that I’ve never worn. It doesn’t make sense when I go through the natural reasoning process, but when I open myself to the Spirit of God, I have the assurance that it is the right thing to do.

God’s Spirit is always available to free you from natural reasoning that leaves you confused. Ask of the One who gives wisdom liberally, and He will free you of being indecisive and double-minded.

For a guided tour from Joyce of the world’s classic collection of wisdom, check out Joyce’s newest book, In Search of Wisdom, available now at joycemeyer.org/wisdom or wherever books are sold.

Prayer Starter: Father, in the past, I’ve been double-minded and confused, giving Satan an advantage over me. Please forgive me. I ask You now in faith, to give me the necessary wisdom to overcome all of Satan’s confusion. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Theme - When Offenses Come

Today’s Scripture

Luke 17:1, HCSB
He said to His disciples, “Offenses will certainly come.”

Today’s Word

Jesus didn’t say that offenses might come to us. He didn’t say that if you’re kind, if you pray and quote the Scriptures, you’ll be exempt from grumpy people and people who cut you off in traffic. He said offenses will certainly come. You will have opportunities on a regular basis to get upset, to argue, to become offended and bitter, and to try to pay people back. That word “offense” comes from a Greek word that means “to bait,” referring to the bait that’s used to lure animals into a trap. When you’re tempted to be offended, when someone is critical, rude, condescending, or says something derogatory to you, recognize that the enemy is trying to deceive you into his trap. He’s saying, “Come on, get upset. Argue with them and tell them off.” Instead of letting it upset you, say, “No, thanks. I’m not taking the bait. This is just a distraction. I’m going to enjoy this day and keep my peace.”

Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that I can guard my heart and keep it free from all the negative things that try to bait me to let them enter in. I declare that I will not allow offenses to get inside and make me upset and bitter. I declare that I’m not taking the bait, and I’m keeping my peace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Theme For David Jeremiah Devotional January 7 2021 – Living on Purpose

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
Daniel 1:8

ur English word purpose derives from an old Anglo-French verb meaning “to propose.” When a man proposes marriage to a woman he says, “It is my purpose to spend my life with you and with none other.” The advantage of such a proposal, as it transitions to a life purpose, is that it eliminates a multitude of decisions that might present themselves. Anything that conflicts with one’s purpose in life is not even considered—or shouldn’t be.

When young Daniel was taken as a captive to Babylon, he purposed in his heart not to defile himself in that pagan land. So he proposed to the one in charge an alternative to the diet he was offered. He didn’t have to wonder, “What should I do?” That decision had been made before God many years before. His purpose was to live a life of purity and obedience to God.

How would you describe your purpose in life? Make your future easier by declaring a clear purpose today.

Man forgets his purpose, and thus he forgets who he is and what life means.

One Touch of Favor

Today’s Scripture

Genesis 22:14, KJV
And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
Today’s Word
You may have a situation that you’ve been praying about for a long time. Maybe it’s to see your family restored, to lose weight, to get out of debt, or to save your business. But it doesn’t look like it’s ever going to change, and you get discouraged and think, “It’s never going to happen. I just have to accept it.”

No, just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen. You need to stir up your faith and get ready for God to show out in your life. He knows how to bring you new customers, to break that addiction, to give you ideas and creativity, and to bring new talents out of you. He’s called Jehovah Jireh, the Lord our Provider. One touch of His favor can turn it around. Keep praying, keep believing, keep expecting, and keep honoring God. When you believe, it allows the Creator of the universe to go to work.

Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You are Jehovah Jireh, the Lord my Provider. Thank You that I can set my trust in You completely, that I am coming into my due season. I believe and declare that this is my time for breakthroughs and to be amazed by Your goodness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

A Double Portion

Today’s Scripture
2 Kings 2:9, NLT
Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken away.” And Elisha replied, “Please let me inherit a double share of your spirit and become your successor.”
Today’s Word
Elijah was a great prophet who did many amazing miracles. One day he saw a young man named Elisha and told him to come and be his assistant, to basically take care of him. Elisha was from a wealthy family and could have been too proud to take what seemed like a low level position, but he recognized the favor on Elijah’s life. He respected the anointing. For years he served Elijah with honor, and eventually, he received a double portion of Elijah’s anointing and did twice as many miracles.
When you sow into someone with great favor, you’re going to reap some of that favor. Sow honor into that supervisor who’s ahead of you. Sow respect into that colleague who’s extremely talented. Sow friendship and encouragement into that person who’s taking new ground. God put them there to bring you favor. As you connect to them, new doors are going to open for you, and new talents are going to come out.

Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that Elisha didn’t just get the favor that Elijah had, but he received a double portion. Help me to find the people with whom I should connect and help them to find me as well. I believe that the honor I show them will come back to me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Don’t “Get”…Receive!

There are certain words in the Bible that I like to refer to as “power words,” which simply means that they can be extremely powerful for us if we understand and incorporate them in our lives. One of those power words is receive. In our world, we’re accustomed to working for everything. We struggle to “get,” but God wants us to simply “receive” from Him.

Throughout the Bible, we read about receiving from God. Some of the scriptures that teach us to receive are John 1:12; John 1:16; Acts 1:8; Acts 8:17; Acts 10:43; 2 Corinthians 6:1; Galatians 3:2, Colossians 2:6, Hebrews 4:16. Each of these verses specifies something we are to receive from the Lord, and then remind us how important it is for us to receive instead of trying to “get.”

To getis “to obtain by struggle and effort”, whereas to receive is “to become a receptacle and simply take in what is being offered”.

This distinction between getting and receiving helps us understand why so many Christians struggle in their walk with the Lord. They’re trying to get everything from Him when they should simply be asking and receiving.

Today’s scripture is one of my favorites on the subject of receiving. It sounds so simple—and that’s the point—receiving is simple! Jesus came to deliver us from striving, not to invite us to struggle continu¬ously. When we cease our efforts to “get” and learn to ask and receive, then our joy will be truly full. Once we have freely received, then we can freely give.

Prayer Starter: Father, thank You that I don’t have to work or strive to receive Your help or Your blessings. Please give me the grace I need to simply ask and freely receive, so I can freely give. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Praise Brings Down Walls

Today’s Scripture

Joshua 6:5, ESV
“And when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, when you hear the sound of the trumpet, then all the people shall shout with a great shout, and the wall of the city will fall down flat.”

Today’s Word

Jericho was the last city that stood between the Israelites and the Promised Land. Its towering city walls were so wide that chariots rode on top of them. It looked impossible. God told Joshua to have them march around the wall for six days, then on the seventh day on the seventh time around, they were to give a great shout of praise. It didn’t make sense to them, but God was saying, “If you’ll praise Me while the wall is still standing, you’ll see things begin to change.”

There’s always a Jericho that stands between you and your Promised Land, one last obstacle that looks insurmountable. Will you trust God enough to praise Him in spite of a bad medical report, to thank Him for freedom when you still have the addiction? You’re so close, but you don’t see how you can get passed it. Don’t complain. Turn up your praise. Praise is what’s going to bring the wall down.

Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that no obstacle is so high and wide that it can withstand Your touch. Thank You that You’re fighting my battles, and You hold victory in store for the upright. I believe that You will get me to where I’m supposed to be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Forget The Past

“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43: 18-19 NKJV).

Regardless of what may have happened in your past, God has a plan and purpose for your life—and it lies in your future. Even if the path before you appears to be dry, barren, and filled with obstacles, God will make a way for you to fulfill His call. All you have to do is believe Him for the impossible.

Forget about the past, and don’t limit God. Your past doesn’t have anything to do with what God has in store for you in the future. That’s why Paul said, “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV).

God wants to do a new thing in your life. And if He wants to do a new thing, my advice is to let Him do it! Look at each new day as another opportunity for God to do extraordinary things in your life. Expect God to do the very things that you could not previously do. Expect those things that people say are rare occurrences to become the norm in your life.

So, stop thinking about the past and allow your thoughts to come into agreement with God’s thoughts: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV).

Confession: I will no longer focus on my past, but will forget what lies behind and set my sights on the future God has for me. God is doing new things in my life, and I will greet each new day with the expectation of His manifest peace, favor, and goodness in my life.

Failure is an Event

Today’s Scripture
1 Corinthians 6:11, NIV
But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Today’s Word
In life, we’re all going to have times where we fall, make mistakes, and blow it. But too often, we get our performance mixed up with our identity. You may have failed, but you are not a failure. That’s what you did. Failure is an event. That’s not who you are. You are a child of the Most High God. You’ve been handpicked by the Creator of the universe. God is not judging you by your setbacks. Maybe you’ve blown a relationship, had an addiction, or done something you’re not proud of. Don’t let that become your identity. God’s mercy is bigger than any mistake that you’ve made.
Your sins have already been forgiven. Every mistake you’ve made and ever will make has already been paid in full. The real question is, will you receive God’s mercy? You don’t have to go around feeling guilty, not excited about your future. You are free. You are clean. You are restored.

Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that Your love and forgiveness for me is not based on my performance but upon the fact that I am Your child. Thank You that every mistake I’ve made and ever will make has already been paid in full by Jesus. I believe I am cleansed and free. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

The Story of Two Kens

[We] shall see His face.
Revelation 22:4

In 1951, a red-headed toddler named Ken Beeton fell into the Manning River in Australia. He was eighteen months old. A nine-year-old boy named Ken Gibson was walking along, saw the drowning child, and heroically managed to pull him to safety.

Nearly seventy years passed, and Beeton, now 71, decided to find out what happened to his rescuer. He tracked down Gibson, now 78, and the two met face to face for a reunion. “I might not have been here without him, so I’m saying thank you,” an emotional Beeton said, to which Gibson smiled and replied, “You’re welcome.”[1]

We’ve been rescued by the Stranger of Galilee who walked past just when we were drowning in our sins. One day we’ll see Him face to face in New Jerusalem and say, “I wouldn’t be here without You, so I’m saying thank You.”

The Bible says we will see Him face to face (1 Corinthians 13:12). Let’s anticipate the day when we will physically see the face of Christ. What a glorious thought!

Face to face I shall behold Him, far beyond the starry sky; / Face to face in all His glory, I shall see Him by and by!

Temptation Isn’t Sin

Temptation to do wrong can make you feel horrible. You may think, I shouldn’t be going through this; I shouldn’t be having a problem with this. But God taught me that temptation isn’t sin; we sin when we give in to temptation, not when it tries to come against us, so we don’t need to feel guilty when we’re tempted.

The Bible says temptation will come (see Matthew 17:7), and Jesus told us to pray not that we would never be tempted, but that we wouldn’t give in to it when we are (see Luke 22:40).

Psalm 105:4 is a great reminder of this to start your day. It says, Seek, inquire of and for the Lord, and crave Him and His strength (His might and inflexibility to temptation); seek and require His face and His presence [continually] evermore (AMPC).

As you seek Jesus more and more, He’ll give you more and more strength to withstand temptation.

Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for giving me the grace I need to resist temptation. Please help me remember to look to You every time temptation rears its ugly head in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Overcoming the Impossible

Never assume that where you’ve been or where you are is as good as it gets. And when your goal or your situation seems impossible, keep in mind that nothing is impossible for God. In Matthew 19:26 (AMPC), Jesus said, “With people [as far as it depends on them] it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.“

The greatest things you can do in life are the things you can’t do on your own. You know you are on the right track when a challenge or opportunity can only be done with God’s help.

It doesn’t matter what the situation looks like around you; God is greater than any obstacle you may be facing. Anything that has never been done is impossible until someone does it, so why can’t it be you? Don’t allow your mind to become a hindrance to the things you can accomplish in life. Think big—the way God does.

Today’s Thought:

Believe God is going to do something better in your life. Go ahead and get your hopes up . . . God is leading you to something better than you can imagine.

To read: Romans 12:21; 1 John 5:4

Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for empowering me to do anything and everything I need to do today, and for leading me into greater things. When I’m faced with problems, please help me remember that You’re bigger, and You’re working in the middle of them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Live Guilt-Free

Today’s Scripture
James 4:7, TLB
So give yourselves humbly to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Today’s Word
Today’s Scripture tells us to resist the enemy. To resist means to not agree with what he’s telling you, but rather to believe what God says about you. When you hear him whisper, “You’re all washed up. You’ve made too many mistakes,” the way you resist it is to answer, “No, thanks. God’s mercy is bigger than any mistake. My best days are still in front of me.” Don’t assist the enemy; resist him. When he tells you, “You don’t deserve to be blessed. Look what you’ve done,” resist him by declaring,”I am the righteousness of God. I am forgiven. I am redeemed.” When the enemy says, “Well, you blew it. You knew better, and now you’re guilty,” tell him, “There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. I asked God for forgiveness, and He not only forgave me, but He doesn’t remember it. I’m going to live guilt-free, confidently, securely, holy, blamelessly, righteously, and honorably in Jesus’ Name.”

Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that when the accuser tries to dump a load of guilt on me, I can say with authority, ‘Condemnation is not acceptable here. Jesus paid the price.’ I am far from perfect, but I will not drag yesterday’s failures into today. I am forgiven. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Its Under Your Feet

Today’s Scripture
1 Corinthians 15:27, NIV
For he “has put everything under his feet.”

Today’s Word

How we see our difficulties very often will determine whether or not we get out of them. When you face challenges and things come against you, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and start thinking, This is never going to work out. I’ll just have to learn to live with it. That kind of thinking not only pushes you down, but it stops God from working. It’s going to attract fear, worry, and doubt. Many people settle for mediocrity. You have to change your perspective. If you’re going to live in victory, you have to see every sickness, every obstacle, and every temptation as being under your feet. It’s no match for you. It’s not going to keep you from your destiny. It’s already defeated. God is going to use it as a stepping stone to take you higher. It’s just a matter of time before you break through to a new level.

Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that Your Word says that You have put all things–every sickness, obstacle, and temptation–under my feet. Thank You that I don’t have to just learn to live with it or put up with it. I declare that all of these challenges are under my feet. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
