I want to use this medium to narrate my Visa journey to encourage someone.

Planning started actively in 2019, but I was too busy to handle the procedure myself. There, I contracted an agent that was introduced to me by someone. . He did admission to University of Stirling, because of the trust I had in the agent, I just asked the conditions to meet and was told we are to pay 3200 pounds deposit which is false and offer letter given to me was also falsified. Mind you during the wait for unconditional Offer, I've already started POF which ran for 3 months wastefully.
I didn't get Unconditional after payment, let alone CAS, God why is my case different. There after my prayers, the voice came to me to call the school to quiz them on why my CAS hasn't been released, though I was still expecting unconditional Offer Letter.
However, the phone rang and was picked up to confirm to me no money was paid into their account. I argued it's over 3 months I've paid and met all conditions, but to no avail. I almost collapsed, if not for my wife. To add insult on injury, the business that I got so busy with that made me unavailable was left unattended to for weeks. That business also soon collapsed, because I made huge loss due to lack of attention. Note: It's an agric business that requires lots of attention. Millions was expended on the business, but made huge loss. I was broken and devastated, I felt lost in the world. With the help of so many people around me i.e family majorly I got back on my feet. Because I drove car, nobody knows what I was dealing with.

About last year July 2022 I decided I was going to try again, but this time I'll do it myself. To cut the story short it was as easy and simple as ABC. From applying to school, to getting my Visa with my dependant was hassle free, no hitch. For this, I give all Glory to God Almighty, the author and finisher of our faith. Special thanks to the admin of this group, as most of the information I used was gotten from here. God bless you all.

It's easy to shout stay at home, stay at home when u feel that u are prepared.

For example, u want light in your house, you forget that this is Nigeria, if electricity workers down tools for one day, trust me na blackout. Now, these essential workers, how do they get to work? Public transport! At work, how would they feed? Restaurant!

It's not that easy to shutdown. There are several persons that wish they could but the nature of their jobs won't permit immediately and these ain't health workers. Even the fone network u are using, trust me if some key workers for MTN, glo etc no go work, forget it. And mind u, these companies na private firm. They weren't prepared for Corona. Nobody was!

In an ideal situation,privatisation and by extension deregulation (I will explain the latter soon) should have helped.Problem was that the DISCOS and GENCOS met poor equipment and poor transmission service.....which all needed fixing...hence the raise in prices, and the lack of improvement(It isn't a magic wand you know).

In my ideal world...what should happen is that the DISCOS should be allowed to compete...so if I find I am paying higher under BEDC, and KEDC pays less per Kwh...I culd switch to kedc....while still living in say Sapele...and pay less...which will mean more people pay KEDC...which brings down prices.

Was following you until your last paragraph. Nigeria's electricity network is no where near ideal (just as u mentioned -in an ideal world) and thus that system can't function. Before this can happen, the supply won't be guaranteed and controlled by an independent operator. As it is now, same company gives you supply and bills you. Simple example, say kedc offers you a lower tariff in your area controlled by ikedc. They can't even guarantee you supply in the first place because it is controlled by ikedc who determines when and when not to give u supply depending on their own schedule and energy received. Remember you could be the only customer who wants kedc tariff in your area.

In summary, we are still very far from that stage.


Now, generally speaking, the issue of electricity in Nigeria is very very deep rooted. Can it be tackled? Yes!!! After all electricity is not a new technology thus we ain't inventing a new thing.

What we are suffering from is basically a result of years of decay and massive corruption. Power requires massive capital investment and returns on investment are not immediate. These discos don't even have the financial might for a quick turnaround of the sector. Another thing is that these investments take time to build and complete. They don't have the money, and they have to survive. So they keep managing an already during system. One thing is sure, we are going to be in this situation for a long time to come if they ngs remain like this. But I pray things change and we solve our problem soon.
