Mballowa: What are the chances of someone who doesnt have any award or publication but has performed well at the interview Msc Hmm. It's only PTDF that can give you a perfect answer though.... I just feel at the end of everything it is not just the pubs or the awards that really matter(cos some persons have them but they had a "not so good" interview) but what matters is whether you are happy or not after seeing the final list. And it very much depends on the level of competition in your state, maybe your state is one of those highly competitive ones( just like someone earlier mentioned that a state had 16 applicants, last year with very strong profiles, which gave ptdf issues on doing the final selection). Well, I do believe for you to have made it to the interview stage, you definitely have one thing or the other( be it class of degree or even O level) that must have made you stand out..... And las las ehn, don't bother yourself just believe in God. |

michaelella: Based on this I'll like to know how they get to know the impact factor of thr journal ... Can the possibility have the impact factor of all journals? I doubt ... So using impact factor calls fot a lot of questions, just saying Yea. You're very correct. What it only means is that there is a divide between high and low impact journals. They already know the class of journals they classified to have high impact(Elsevier and co) or vice versa... For now, let's forget anything about marking or no marking scheme. Let's ask God to just favour us. I believe by next month everyone will know how far. So let's not be bothered about pubs or awards. I just shared based on what I learnt from the panelists. Cheers! |

bataderemi: Did they invite any 2.2? Everyone I saw during my interview had first class. Yea. They do invite 2.2 with relevant industry experience. |

Based on my experience, the O level grading is true, cos the guy who computed mine took his time to check them well, and he was computing on the screen, and giving feedback to the second interviewer beside him. And the awards the lead interviewer told me cos i asked him. He said maximum of four awards and one publications is okay. The journals are graded based on impact factor. Its possible for one to submit two journals and not still get the full 5 marks. And another can submit just one journal and still get complete 5 marks. I don't know for the SOP and Class of degree, but I know the marks will vary for different grades. |

omoneg: Help please Take a bus from berger to Ibadan, tell the driver you will be dropping at challenge bus stop(even if he drops you at Toll gate, still find your way to challenge), then from challenge, take a cab going to Dugbe, from the last bus stop at Dugbe you will hear some drivers already calling passengers going to Ojo, UI, that's the cab that will take you to UI. Once you get to UI, I am sure you can ask around and find your way to the PTDF complex. Alternatively, you can follow Iwo road, I ain't that familiar with that route though. For the second question, you can read the contributions on this thread from April, the 29th till date. |

lubriderm: Thanks boss. I have just one cash price award and there is no form of evidence for it. Please how do I defend this one? Actually, the evidence is the main thing. I also had one that evidence was close, still they refused. I told them I was gonna show them newspaper evidences though. They still refused. They accept scholarships or cash awards but it must have certificates to show for it, talking based on my centre though, can't say for others. Don't worry, you'll be fine. Cheers! |

Newcastle2023: I learnt from a PTDF staff that it was only 40 persons per state that made it to the interview stage for MSc category and 30 persons per state for the PhD category. I wish all of us here all the best. I was also told the process is strictly merit based. That any other consideration is outside this particular process. Wow. Even the press guys(NTA) at the Ibadan centre said the number of interviewees are about 357 and 177 for msc and phd respectively, the figures only applies to ibadan centre for the two weeks period though. Can't say for other centres, though there are six centres in all. |

With the way it is right now, all the states are very competitive. And almost all the applicants who made it to interview stage have one thing or the other to offer. So it's tight across all the states, as one can't really tell who the real contenders are. But in the end, we'll be fine by God's grace... |

theSpark: Very true. See ehhn, this PTDF thing is just God's favour and grace to whoever gets it. Some awards that some people will be turned back with, yours can be accepted. Like my awards were secondary school awards and I didnt even have the original copy of the second one but they were both recorded and credited to me.
That's what I thought o, the publication that was accepted last year was having issues this year. One of the panelists insisted that my publication was a 'review' and not a publication. Even when I told her it was peer reviewed she didnt change her position. The only hope I have is that they said they'll take a decision on the status of my publication after I leave. At least that one is not a straight no.
The man who checked my O level seemed to cherry pick the worst grades there. He just announced 14/30 and I felt helpless. When I did it myself yesterday I calculated the best/worst case scenario to be 20/17
Also the panelist thrashed one of my course choices and said I just want to waste their money, I had to quickly denounce it and embrace my second course since it appealed more to her. The rest of the questions were just to test my familiarity with the claims on my SOP, to check if i wrote it myself. Questions on some of my claims came up.
To be candid, this is the first presentation I felt like a total idiot like 6 separate times in a space of 30 minutes. Questions were asked and after I answer they'll tell me "We know all of that, tell us the relationship between what you're saying and what PTDF does". Even questions on the SDGs popped up, "Do you think with the realities on ground, they are achievable?" Na me use my hand buy that wahala in my SOP sha.
I just feel one kind after it all. Last year, those that were overdrilled seemed to get the scholarships. This year, everyone in my centre came out looking stressed and disoriented, including me. It was so bad I forgot to tell the panelists they smelt nice. So i dont even knw what to think again. I think those in Engineering have a higher chance of getting the scholarships because, because they seem to be fewer. There were only about 6 engineers in my centre, and about 25 environmental guys. I was scheduled for 12 but i met the panel at 4.30pm
Many guys from the North have very intimidating profiles, grades, and awards. The competition is thick there too. Last last, just put your faith and trust in God. He shows mercy to whom he will. Your case could be different from the next person's, so don't let anybody's experience make you apprehensive. Just go out and enjoy the experience.
I'm unfollowing this thread after this post. Someone should please be kind enough to tag me when shortlist comes out. This experience has motivated me to pursue my other opportunities with zest. Which centre is this please? |

lubriderm: Please what are the types of Awards that are accepted or considered as valid. I would appreciate response from any one. Thanks Take along with you every piece of award or supporting evidences you have. You don't know the type of panelists you will meet. Odds may favour you and the ones you feel aren't gonna be accepted may even be considered. All the best bro.. |
