HORLADSTAR:There's still hope for you bro. Writing is Life |
Why Writers Should Have A Journal. You must be thinking, Why write in a journal when I can just type onto my PC. Truthfully, One of the valuable tools I've found since I started taking my writing seriously is my writing journal. This book, is where I write down every idea I have. Some I may use, some I won't, but the journal helps me sort them out and keep them organized. READ ALSO : FIVE TIPS TO HELP YOU BECOME A BETTER WRITER Sometimes I get and idea for story or poem and then I keep it in my head for a long time that when I need it I can't remember anymore. You can't possibly store all your ideas in your head. Thoughts come and go, but if you write it down in journal, you'd be able to look back on it later when you need it. Importance of Keeping A Writer's Journal Read below, why you should have a journal for your writings. 1) Keeping A Writer's Journal Fosters creativity: Keeping a journal is one of the best tools to practice your writing and to make sure you keep writing. Make a particular commitment for a month. Everyday you write something, your fears, worries, channel into words and journal it. 2) Keeping A Writer's Journal Keeps you sane: I've had scenarios where I've got too many thoughts in my head or I just can't stop thinking. I needed to pour out my thoughts, so I get my journal and write. It helps clear the mind. READ ALSO: COMMON MISTAKES MADE BY CREATIVE WRITERS 3) It Serves As A Bank Of Thought: At some point you'd wanna go back and look at your previous writing. You get inspiration from reading your journal and sometimes you learn from your mistakes. "A writer can use a journal to reflect upon events and gain perspective on the past." 4) It Brings Inspiration And Helps Overcome Writers Block: Going through your previous writings, it helps bring inspiration. Writing daily helps enhances creativity. It helps one get focused and gets the words flowing - thereby overcoming writers block. Now that you've read all this. I'm sure you'd be interested in having a writing journal too. Let me know what you think in the comment section. Written By Praise Osawaru

Six Signs Your Partner needs your attention 1 . He stopped asking you for things:[http://www.exclusivetribe.com/2018/01/six-signs-that-shows-your-partner-needs-your-attention.html] You may think that this is a good thing at first, but it actually is quite the opposite. Research has proven that when a man is stressed, he retreats and refrains from being direct with you."If he doesn't feel like you'll understand what's important to him or that you'll default to a negative response, he'll stop bringing it up," says Greer. 2. He is spending a lot of time with friends: Of course he has friends and work companions that he likes to see on occasion. But he is spending more and more time with them and less at home with you and the family. He is not doing this to get away from you! He is actually seeking your attention and hoping for an invitation to come home and be with you. 3. He is constantly telling you how much he misses you [http://www.exclusivetribe.com/2018/01/six-signs-that-shows-your-partner-needs-your-attention.html]: You live in the same house and see each other every single day, but he still often tells you he misses you. This is a clear sign that he needs more love from you. He is working so hard to provide for you and the family, but wants to know that when he comes home he will be welcomed with open arms, a kiss from his loving wife and maybe even a surprise romantic evening. 4. He accuses you of not loving him enough: Has your partnerever told you that you don'tlove him enough? Oftentimes women forget that their husbands have needs as well. This ranges from physical all the way to emotional. One of the best ways to address this concern is to ask questions and search for understanding. Listen to him. Talk to him. He needs your full attention on him immediately. [] 5. He talks you out of doing things with friends to be with him: [http://www.exclusivetribe.com/2018/01/six-signs-that-shows-your-partner-needs-your-attention.html] All you want to do is have a night with your bestie you haven't seen in over a year, but he tries to convince you to stay with him. This is not because he doesn't like your friend; it is actually quite the opposite. He is jealous of how special your relationship is with her. When he acts out like this, it is because he feels you aren't spending enough time with him. You aren't treasuring him which is all he wants. 6. He makes you feel bad for the little things: His temper is high, and his patience is low. Everything you do seems to put him on edge. Ishe really mad at you? One of the ways men cope with this feeling of being neglected is through anger. He isn't mad at anything you have done; he just misses spending time with you. Make time for your partner. He loves and misses you dearly. Just a small gesture of appreciation - a surprise special evening together - can go a long way. Written by Praise Osawaru http://www.wordsmithpraise.com |

The Transition has Led to the following problems: => Lecturer Protest against Mass Labor Turnover => Delay in the Examination of HND 2 FT/EV => Communication Gap between State Government and Management of MAPOLY => Inconsistent Lecture for ND1 & ND 2 FT/EV => Failure to admit new students for ND 1 and HND 1 FT/EV Ogunbiyi Ahmed ET Muftau Arifayo "2017 Based on the aforementioned problems each stakeholder (Government, MAPOLY Managements and Students) are agitating for their right but the noise of the grass root (Students) seems not to be heard. The transition has posed a significant effect on students such as; => Students that have any issue such as Carryover/ Extra year, how will they complete their programme? => Students have lost focus on reading most especially HND 2 FT/EV which can significantly lead to mass failure if the examination commences soon. => Students that hold Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Certificate have no reference point anymore based on which school they finished from. => National Youth Service Corps of Outgoing HND 2 FT has been delayed as well because no mobilization without final examination => Delay in youths plan as various outgoing students have individual plans which have been affected negatively by the delay in their final examination. However, the crisis going on wouldn’t have occurred if the Ogun state government had learnt from the TASUED/TASCE crisis, which recently occurred as a result of lack of funding. As student(s) of MAPOLY, we have not said the transition is not a good achievement but proper structure ought to have been put in place, structures that will mutually benefit both parties (Government and MAPOLY stakeholders). The Government should not have scrapped MAPOLY while the new MAUSTECH was being established. Better still, MAUSTECH should be entirely new varsity at Ipokia instead of destroying laid down structure in MAPOLY. The implication is that if MAPOLY had not been scrapped by statue and simply related to Ipokia, (name can be changed to Ogun Poly) then the workers will no longer have the right to argue that they cannot be transferred or moved to the same institution new location. This issues has posed a very negative effects on both students’ and MAPOLY Staff as the student’s graduation is not guaranteed while the staffs’ employment is at stake. Concerning Profferable solutions, the issues are still not far-fetched and rectification can be done amicably if the following can be considered based on the problems and its tremendous effect on students and MAPOLY Staff : => MAPOLY Staffs should be included in transition committee to ensure mutually but beneficial satisfactions. Government should have a general meeting with all Management both teaching and non teaching staff in order to develop goals and planning strategy which can resolve the current issues => They should consider the current human resources in MAPOLY by retaining qualified staff for University and deploy others to new establishment. => MAUSTECH should be entirely a new university at Ipokia to avoid needless argument. => MAPOLY should be de-scrapped, if already scrapped, movement to a new site will them simply be on disarticulation of co-habilitation policy. Ogunbiyi Ahmed ET Muftau Arifayo "2017 It is high time the institution enjoy the goodness of the government, OGSG should support the institution (MAPOLY) by completing the road leading to the institution, building more lecture room, practical room, and payment of staffs salaries. In conclusion, all government should learn from this, the OGSG has basically focused on infrastructure in the state which is a very good idea, but then again, infrastructure cannot go in isolation. Others aspect should also be considered basically on EDUCATION and ENTREPRENEURSHIP and AGRICULTURE. If the students are not schooled or empowered, they might destroy the infrastructure of the government. Agriculture however will promote the culture and tradition of the state and as a result leads economy boom in the state as well as job opportunities. Chapter Seven I gazed at his apartment from across the street, it looked rather empty to me. Perhaps the window blinds. I shook my shoulder. Phew! Second thoughts? I smiled and shook off the feeling, proceeding to the front door. Luckily, like all careless citizens, he left his key under the rug. Boy, was I lucky! I opened the door and entered the house. I wouldn't call that breaking and entering, At least I used a key. I saw various photos on the wall of the both of them. Looks to me like they've been together a while. But I don't get why she came to me saying she was a virgin? Anyways, I walked upstairs to the bed room and found nude pictures of her turned into wallpaper across the room. As if that wasn't insulting enough I found a tripod with a camera directly opposite the bed. I took it and played the most recent film. "Bleep!" I yelled. They filmed their sex tape. I slammed the camera on the ground and stepped on it. I felt relieved a little. I was so engrossed I didn't know someone was behind me coming out of the bathroom. "What the Bleep?!" he shouted. I grabbed a lamp and hit him on the head. I ran out the room, walking down the stairs, I felt a hand pull me backwards. It was him, we struggled, eventually I pushed him and he rolled down the stairs landing with his head as it bashed upon the ground, splashing blood everywhere. You know how they say fear or flight? Bleep! Fear and flight weren't the only actions one took in danger. I froze. My feet stuck to the floorboards. And then my phone rang! It was her! Shit! And then there was a knock on the door! Chapter Six The Billion dollar question, 'Who the hell was that? ' I wanted to scream hit her hard across the face and yell like they do in one of those Taylor Swift music videos but I let it slide. "Hey babe," she blinked her eye. "I'm here, " I responded as I hid her phone in my pocket. I laid beside her and wrapped my hands around her body. She reclined upon me and slept off once more. I couldn't wave the thoughts running through my mind. Having seen that picture, I've felt this hole in my heart slowly eating me up like a tumor. The next morning was awfully quiet as I sat down on the dining table eating and thinking about my next action. "Hey babe, why are you awfully quiet this morning?" I guess she didn't read me well enough to know how I was feeling. She came closer and snapped her fingers before my face to bring me back to reality. I stared at her, what do i say to her? I thought. Who the hell is my number? Why did he send you a dick pic? Nah! I just smiled and kissed her forehead. "Nothing's wrong, I'm just really hungry this morning," I responded, I lied as I took my leave from the dining table. While she took her bathe, I went through her phone messages and found his address on her phone, I scribbled it down on my notepad. And quickly Slid her phone back into her bag. It's time I paid this son of a bitch a visit. What the hell does he have to do with my girlfriend. "My girlfriend?" I nearly said out loud. It was cringeworthy to think about. Whatever! Chapter Five Hell! I couldn't stop thinking about our little fling, our moment. Even while at class I'd notice her steal a peek at me. Still unsure though. Was the sex really worth it? Gosh! she was a distraction. I couldn't focus, our moment was on replay in my head like pornography tapes rolling off a VR tape. I used to be a virgin, now I guess I'm no longer one. Anyway, its not like virginity even applies to males to think about it. Whatever. At least the sex was great-to me. In no time, we start hanging out together. At times, time just stops all of a sudden and the whole word stares at me. At US! We'd stroll along class hallways, and often I'd see groups of girls, huddled together giggling. I'm pretty sure she's told half of Northwestern about our time. Pretty sure they all think we're dating. If only she knows. Wait are we dating? At least not to me anyway... I never categorised her as a girl friend. I never did answer her question that day. She never did bring it up again. And there was that moment. That moment I'll never forget. The night before the college bonfire! I remember. I remember it all now. Clearly. I stayed overnight at her place, we watched movies and made out. It was just another one of many, our special routine. She fell sleep on the couch, and I carried her in my arms into the bedroom, her phone in my pocket. Her phone rung. I wanted to wake her. On a second thought, I didn't. Why wake her when its probably Sarah, her best friend and the most annoying person I know, calling. It spelt 'My Number'. Definitely not Sarah. I dropped the phone on the bedside table. I walked out. Wait wait! how would ones number call itself? It rang again. I picked the call, unfortunately the connection was bad. I dropped the phone thinking and then it vibrated, a pop up message from 'My Number'. I clicked on it. I staggered a little... What the hell?! A picture of a guy's dick with a message below. "Babe, I'm Hot. Where are you? " Surely, that wasn't her number. Who the hell was that? Written by: Ayomide O'tega and Praise Osawaru |
Chapter Four "No blood! No blood!" my consciousness yelled at me. Didn't I hit her hard enough? Or was I too small down there? Gosh! So much for all the expertise and experience I promised. But was she really a virgin? The question piqued me. Screw! I knew I messed up. First time and there was no blood. She's going to tell all her friends. That's for sure! My social rep's gone. Damn! I wouldn't even be able to look at her in class. I'll become the topic of small gossip among sophomore college girls! And there goes my crush! Maybe she wasnt a virgin afterall! But who lies when they're about to have sex? I quickly wave the thought aside as I feel her hands upon my back. "Babe, what are we now?" She asks, this time more persistent. 'Friends? Friends with benefits?' Dave no! Are you crazy, why on earth would you say that? My mind ran over another option. 'Sex partners?' Anything was cool with me, girlfriend was just not in the picture. I reached for her and laid a kiss on her forehead, and made my way to the bathroom. Yes! I did just ignore the question. * * * I let the cold water cascade down my back as I reflected over the sheer perfection that was Gina. Her boobs! Lord no! They were succulent. They had been the subject of my imagination since freshman year, but right across me, less than 2 metres away, there they lay on my bed. One of Northwestern's most beautiful girls sprawled across my bed. I tapped my face to be sure I wasn't dreaming. The door creaked open behind me, I wiped the soap off my face and watched as she approached me slowly and stealthily. I didn't quite see her cleavage in all glory earlier. Damn! They were soft though! I watched her twin glands jiggle up and down. I was starting to get hard down there. I could swear that thing had a mind of it's own. She knelt down before me and held me by the waist. In a flash, she pulled me in between her breasts. Gosh! It was pure bliss! I felt the warmth and closed my eyes. Next thing I know, I was in her mouth. The water washed over the both of us. The lights reflected off her breasts and her hair shone in the yellows and whites that made my bathroom. And then I noticed it. A drop. A trickle. Wait how's that even possible? Is that blood? TO BE CONTINUED Written by Ayomide O'tega and Praise Osawaru. |
Chapter Three "Dave be gentle! Dave be gentle!" It kept on ringing in my head. Damn! She really thinks I know what I'm doing. I'll just pretend I do. She was looking up to me. My hands found way between her legs as my lips touched hers. Her thighs came flailing apart. I fumbled with my hands. She pulsed shortly. That had to be her spot! Her clitoris? Maybe. 'Idiot! You didn't cut your nails! You're gonna injure her. You're gonna injure her.' My mind was running a marathon around one spot. God! She's moaning! Is that pleasure or pain? I can't even tell. I follow the tutorials as the porn video replays in my head. The next thing would be to insert. I slide in perfectly. This doesn't feel weird at all. The warmth and sensitivity sends me off to space. Gosh! I never want to come out. The feeling's amazing! I thrust in and out. My throat make a guttural sound that was foreign to me. Gosh! I never want this to stop. Never! It gets hotter, her vagina tightens around me. The pleasure's heightened. I go deeper. Deeper. Faster! faster! She arches her back and lifts her head off the bed. She claws at my back. Her body makes seismic movements. She twists and contorts. And then I shoot! And then the spray! I watched as she went limp and collapsed into bed. I drop off too. Damn! This feels way better than all the years of self-servicing. And then she asks: "baby, what are we now?" I ignore. Wait! She was a virgin! There was no blood! TO BE CONTINUED written by Ayomide O'tega |
Chapter Two She pulled me closer. Damn! My hands start to sweat. God! I expected her to be experienced. She should know better, I thought to myself. But no! She pulls me closer. Our lips touch, my breath ceases. She's a virgin! God! A freaking virgin! What if I don't slide in well on the first try. What if there's blood. Everywhere. I closed my eyes. "Go with the flow! Just go with the flow" I heard my brain screaming at me! I did. She leaned in for a kiss. I kissed back. I always thought noses collided during kisses. No! This was different. Damn! I was such a prude. I took in the smell of her perfume. It had a tinge of rose. It filled me with longing. Her hands roamed to where my trouser zip was. Damn! I was so hard. She pressed against me harder. My body responded harder. She ran her hands through my hair and pulled me over her on the single bed. Her soft voice came cascading out. "Dave, be gentle" And then she slid off her thongs. Thongs! God! Thongs! She was prepared. What the hell am I gonna do next? TO BE CONTINUED. written by Ayomide O'tega |

Her number scrawled across it in bold red letters, with the inscription "call me maybe." Damn! She had been my crush for two years straight now. I called. She picked. She asked me, "I see the way you look at me. Wanna have fun?" My voice shakes like China in an earthquake. My hands refuse to grab the phone. My body floods with sweat. I replied: "dare me!" trying to play the cool guy. She sets a date. I mark my calendar. What she doesn't know is that I'm a virgin. My stomach turns at the thought. It's college for Christ's sake. Virg... What's that? I practice my moves. I watch porn. A lot of porn. What if my thing's not big enough for her? God forbid I fizzle out early. What if she's had better men? And the day came. She walked into my dorm, roommate was out. I go over the moves in my head. We kiss. I let my hands roam. Smoothly like in my practice, I pull out a condom. And then she paused. "Baby please go gentle on me. It's my first time." "Really?" We were the last virgins standing at Northwestern University. TO BE CONTINUED. Written by Ayomide O'tega |

As she gaits gently about, Throw your eyes like discuss beneath her ribs- Straight into her belly button; It's a safe house (where your mind is always at peace with...) Use your lips to rub off any dust there, Then clear your throat and proceed to her thighs, Repeat it again and don't stop, Note: she's been lying spontaneously for a surgery, Although not in a ward, Not even within walls, But in the firmament of your mind. See, She may want to resist with ego at first, But as her doctor, glide with gentility; It's in your constitution, your ethics, So be gentle like green, like grace because to fight the beast sometimes, One needs to be an angel, So be mild, yet wild. \ As you clean, Remember to reach the soldier's spot; The clitoris, Some call it 'the spot of death'- A spot to kill and heal at once, But even death is a gate to hereafter, So she won't die and not wake, Thus, feel free and clean, If she asks you to stop, ignore, Because she didn't mean it, Go on and clean, kill, heal, feel, with glee, Feel good as you generously clean her till you hear a voice- A voice that makes no sound, But it comes like wind sometimes, Other times like fire that doesn't burn. When you hear that voice, Rub your forehead with your palm, Shut your eyes once again but this time don't see your shadow, See a flake of snow rather, Shut it still, hold tight, When you loose, slowly, Open your eyes and behold her; A goddess of sanity, of purity. As you behold her ravishing beauty, Smile and allow the redolence of her perfume plunge your pride, Once this is done, Walk up to her like a king and bury these words in her ears: "For real, please Be My Wife." https://www.worthofread.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/main-e1427858494849.jpg Written by BWriteword Share your thoughts below |

How did it happen? I mean the fire burns on your body" 'Hmmmmm..... She sighed and began her story. ".....Boom!!!!!! Came the sound from the kitchen of our two storey building. My mother had left the house. Away from the dangers and warnings of that day, before I called her. The house was inflames. Fear gripped my reflexes making me paralyzed on what to do. Fear and flight are not the only actions one take in times of danger. The third one was 'freeze' . I froze with fear seeing the flames coming from the just exploded cooking gas in which I planned to cook with." Pelumi narrated amidst sobs. "I had just returned from school that Thursday evening. I noticed the chillness in the room as everywhere seemed deserted. Maybe the building knew what was about to happen, and so hid itself in silence. I checked the rooms for a living soul, but my sibling was already fast asleep. After the days exam, I came back home tired and exhausted that I couldn't await the arrival of my mother, who left a note on the table of the sitting room, stating she had gone to visit the neighbor who had just given birth. My instinct, or maybe fate didn't allow me reason to wait. And so I ran into the kitchen to prepare the left over rice from the previous night, stored in the refrigerator. A strike to the match stick placed high above the cylinder. My hands caught up inflames. The explosion from the gas was loud enough to wake the dead from their grave. My sibling ran out immediately hearing the thundering sound. Mama, who by now was standing frustrated with other sympathizers awaiting the the arrival of the firemen, couldn't hold back anymore. She was my super saver. She ran into the kitchen. I could read the agony written all over her face as she watched her angel burn. Without thinking, seeing I surrounded with crowds of fire alone, she jumped in and embraced my burning flesh . she took the better share of the flames while she struggled to drag me out of the house. She succeeded after much struggles and choking, to bring me out to safety. She ran back inside, returning with the burning cylinder in her bare hands, in order to save what is left of our flaming home. She did this, leaving us a half burnt house in which we stayed in for a-month or two - or so. Coming out half naked from the burns, she collapsed. By this time, father had returned from work hearing the news of the whole incidence,. The fire service never responded on time. Mama was rushed to the hospital with dad's car. But........(Sobs) She never made it to the hospital. She died on the way to UCH, Ibadan. The fire had eaten more than half of her once upon a time beautiful face. It savaged her like a prey clawed down by its predator. She was beyond recognition. Mummy died trying to save me and her home. She died leaving me with the scars. This burns signifies bravery of a strong woman...Mum....mm..Why! I............" She wasn't able to hold back the tears any longer, as she sobbed uncontrollably. .Written by: Chorlinz Edited by: Wordsmith Praise Share Your Thoughts Below |
https://i2.wp.com/media.premiumtimesng.com/wp-content/files/2016/08/MAPOLY-gate.jpg?fit=480%2C300&resize=350%2C200 Ogunbiyi Ahmed writes Moshood Abiola Polytechnic also known as MAPOLY is a tertiary learning institution in Abeokuta , Ogun State ,Nigeria . The Ojere campus is in the South-Eastern part ofAbeokuta, covering about 960 hectares of rolling land bounded by the Ogun River to the south. It is named after Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, who was elected President of Nigeria in 1993, but prevented from taking office. The Polytechnic started on two temporary campuses, Oke-Egunya and Onikolobo, moving to the Ojere campus between April 1985 and March 1988. By the 2004/2005 session, the student population was 18,878, with about 520 academic and non-academic staff. Presently, The institution has now been upgraded to Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology.... And the institution is now 45th State University inNigeria. This transition has put the students and entire city of Abeokuta in the state of quagmire as this decision will affect the economy of the major markets around the vicinity. Since the inception of the institution(MAPOLY) major markets such as Panseke, Kuto, Omida andLafenwa has been greatly patronize by Mapoly Students.. It was also observed that, transporters in Ogun State also lies in the existence of this institution in terms of converging students from Lagos(Oshodi, Sango, Abule Egba, Iyana Ipaja, Ikorodu, as so on to Abeokuta) which this has positively influenced the economy of Ogun State due to large number of MAPOLY Students. In lieu of this fact, the economy of Ogun State might crawl or recessed if MAPOLY is taken to another location. According to findings, it was observed that amongst all institutions in Ogun State, Only MOSHOOD ABIOLA POLYTECHNIC has been the only institution funding itself independently without the intervention of government. The big question now is; is this how the state government wants to compensate the stakeholders(Management, non academics, staffs, artisans, traders) of the institution whom has invested a lot in the school to ensure continuity and to avoid indefinite Strike by ASUP. Based on all this findings, I will however recommend the following to Ogun State Government. 1. The government should call the members of the ASUP for dialogue to discuss on how MAPOLYand MAUSTECH will run effectively on campus. 2.The government should include member of the Union in the technical committee. 3. The government should build more buildings, lecture rooms, More offices and repair the pot holes to make the school look more standard. 4. The government should ensure they pay Staff of MAPOLY there salaries and other bonuses theyare entitle to. 5. The finance of the institution should be from the government and not in school finding itself. 6.Since those lecturers in MAPOLY are the one's that built the institution to where it is today, the government should compensate them by allowingthose of them that are yet to meet the necessary requirements by including them as lecturer pending the time they upgrade their certificate instead of bringing lecturers or professor else where to enjoy others people joy. As ethnic lords from the North, East, West and South continue in efforts to trigger a second civil war, international military hardware merchants who brainwashed the foreign based agitators to employ an uncompromising attitude are instigating and preparing to sell their arms while we get our parents, wives and children ready to pay the bitter prices. The gullible ones believe war is the answer and provoking same by their words and actions each passing day, the unwise ones are so selfish and inconsiderate, refusing to caution their people, thinking that their families or any part of the country will be immune to the consequences of a possible 2017 civil war simply because they didn'tparticipate in the agitation. Perhaps, many do not know that the Civil War didn't extend beyond Ore to the West and didn't exceed Benue to the North. At the very end, both gladiators (Gowon & Ojukwu) lived because they never set foot upon the battlefield of the wars they ignited but over three million innocent women, children and elderly died unnecessarily. Meanwhile, all the crooks travelled to safe areas with their families just as would repeat should another civil war breakout. Niger Delta militant generals are all alive but over 60% of their boys are dead, Al Zakzarki is alive but hundreds of his gullible followers are dead.As you continue to conjure the next civil war, call for a town hall meeting in your respective communities and prepare the minds of your aged parents for a violent death, counsel your wives and daughters of the emotional trauma that incessant rapes would create because surely over30% shall be raped in just 6mths of chaos. Also, make plans because most of your children shall become orphans and child soldiers and those whosurvive shall end up in REFUGEE Camps in Niger, Chad, Benin Republic and Cameroon. The last Civil war was ignited on a conference table and was also resolved on a conference table, wouldn't it be wiser to have avoided the war in between. Awesome Story. I also write like this. |
One of the best things about Kachi was her smile. The way her eyes lit up when she smiled and her lips stretched as far back as possible showing all her perfect set of teeth. It was glorious to watch. I loved watching her smile. I loved making her smile. This morning I am telling Kachi about this cute guy in my intro to physics class I am sure is gay because every time I smile at him he shakes his head and turns away. I mean, I'm a catch maybe not a ten over ten but at least an eight. So if I smile at you, dude you'd better swallow your pride and smile back. She smiles and says Odera whenever you like a guy every attitude he displays other than liking you back is pride. Maybe he has a girlfriend or maybe you're just not his type. Really kachi? I say. What's not his type? Tall, dark or fiiinee? Let's not forget with brains. How about modest, modest and modest kachi shoots back. This morning Kachi is trying out wedding dresses. She's getting married In May to her college sweet heart ademide. She's really happy is all I can think as I watch her change different dresses without being able to decide which she likes best. Odera help me na, why you just sit down dey shine teeth? She laments, but I'm caught up in this moment, I find the scar above her right eyes and somehow I let myself drift to a time where we weren't always this happy. We grew up in a small town at the outskirts of rivers state. Father was a teacher at one of the secondary schools in town and mother was the typical Nigerian house wife who made clothes once in a while for the neighbors. We lived in a little two bedroom flat with broken windows and caving ceilings and whenever it rained the wind came in furiously and we had to position buckets strategically under the parts of the ceilings that leaked. We were a long shot from being wealthy, we weren't always comfortable either but my mother always made sure we had enough. I remember some nights when I ate with kachi and my mother just watched us eat. She never let us know the food wasn't enough for three. She'll always say; I'm not hungry. We attended the local primary school because that's where we could afford to and even then, we still could not afford all our books. Then father got a new job at the university. I was four and Kachi was six. Mother was happy, things would be better now she told us. You would go to better schools and Odera you wouldn't have to wear Kachi's old clothes anymore. And we where happy because things would change, we were happy because mother was happy. Few months after the new job, father bought a car. We still lived in our old house and we still attended the local school. The day he came home with the car was the first time we heard them fight. Mother was furious because he had bought a car when we hadn't been enrolled in better schools. She complained about dad's extravagant spending but he said it was his money. We eventually changed schools. Mother enrolled us at a private school at the other side of town and so we had to be up by 5:00am to make it in school on time. We went to school with the school bus every morning, but in the afternoons after school father picked us up on his way back from work. The day everything changed was when my class teacher, I can't remember her name had asked my father for a lift, and I wondered why she had to follow us all the way to the other side of town for father to drop us, before going to drop her off. Father dropped us off at the beginning of the street that day and we had to walk down the lonely, deserted road back home. Mother was surprised when she saw us, she asked why we walked back and where my father was and I innocently told her he had gone to drop my class teacher off. That was the second time we heard them fight. She kept screaming at him asking him why he had left us to walk back the lonely street while he went around town with another woman. What if they had been kidnapped? With all these ritual killings. Is your libido more important than the safety of your children ? She screamed at him. I would proceed later to go check the meaning of libido because I couldn't fathom why mother was so mad that dad had dropped my teacher off. The arguments went on and on and on and then dad tried to leave the house but mom won't let him, that was when he hit her. Then he pushed her against the wall and kept smashing her head against it. I stood there transfixed while kachi screamed and screamed till the neighbors came. That night father didn't come back home and mother tried not to cry even as kachi cleaned blood off her head. When he eventually came home, I couldn't look at him, it was like I didn't see my father anymore, like he had been replaced by this beast who would hit my mother's head against the wall for talking back at him. Mother had served him his food as she usually did and when he called kachi and I to give us little pieces of meat like he usually did, we said thank you, we just ate. Which was the response mother taught us to give when strangers offered us food. Because at that moment, he was a stranger to us. ...to be continued.(HERE)

BY Soneye Abdul-Azeez Lekan I heard that ASUU has called off the strike, how true is it? So there are many people asking this question. Where were these people in the last so many days of the strike. I repeat what is wrong with this generation. If we are not getting the best of education, but why do we lack the consciousness and courage to ask the powers that be questions like; why is our lecturers on strike? Is there no money to pay them? Why do you have to wait for someone to speak for you? It's always sad when issues that matters to our future is being taken slightly by the various constituted authorities in the land and the only things the student populace would say is:let's wait for the Students Union Executives to talk. It's sad. So heartbreaking. I want to be proud of my generation. I wanna grow up one day, get married, have kids and narrate to my kids the story of how we changed Nigeria for great. I don't wanna tell my kids that I tried but it was just few of us who were involved so we lost. ASUU calling off strike shouldn't be a good news anywhere in this twenty-first century, not in an oil rich country like Nigeria. Some weeks back, I read a post on the timeline of Professor Pius Adesanmi(Click Here to view) , a don who has been known across the world for teaching beginners in lecturing job and PhD candidates, Prof. Pius Adesanmi posted that Rwanda's public schools are now so standardized that private schools are running out of market and their owners beging government to help them. Why, because no one wants to go to a private school there. The standard of their government owned schools is what a true school in the millennia should look like. While Nigeria, the 'giant' of Africa is celebrating suspension of lecturers' strike. Oh lord! Where art thou? What I've always preached is not out of my own love for protest. But because I've understood that the only language you can speak to get your needs from the present leadership we have in this country is force. Their kids are graduating in overseas out of our money. Their doctors are in India, England and the best part of the world. They pay from our tax. Don't mind me when I say "our tax". I don't mean the tax my parents paid, the one I paid. As a prospective student, it's sad that of the prerequisite to sustain your admission in my school is to pay tax. Shall this continue? Do we have to wait until they start chopping off our head in broad day light for feast? So there is a protest but you can't join, yet you keep blaming the system. HORRIFIC FICTION - LISTEN CHAPTER FIVE- (HUMAN SACRIFICES 2) OUTSKIRT OF GREENVILLE Greenville neighbouring town was DUTA; a notorious town filled with bandits and scum bags. The people who lived at the outskirt of Greenville fell victim to Theft, Kidnapping and the likes. "Wife, Come see this!" Mark shouted. "Another killing! So we got ourselves a serial killer in town. Where's Jude?" Mark's wife yelled. Jude ran down the stairs and almost tripped. His mother, Vivian Dale, shouted at him for his carelessness. "You called me, anything the matter?" "Look at the TV and tell me what you see." "Uh, a couple murdered at the woods, dead bodies found in the morning." Jude muttered. "So no going near the woods, promise me." Vivian stated. "I'm no longer a kid mum!" "Son, You get home before 6:00pm. That's Final!" Jude had earlier wanted to take permission to go out with his friends later in the day. Now, everything was bleeped up. He took his bag pack and his Dad Drove him to school. * * * * Lectures for the day was over and Jude friends were prepping to leave. He didn't know how to break it to them that his parents requested he be home before 6pm and it was 5pm already. As tempted as he was, be declined the offer and walked home alone. They made a mockery of his statement and bolted before his very eyes. Jude later got home just before 6pm. His parents had dialed his number severally which he intentionally refused to pick up. He opened the door slowly, unknowingly,They were waiting for him to enter. "Jude! Where have you been?!" His dad shouted. "Nowhere, i just decided to walk home." "Why didn't you take the bus? Those bandits could have been tailing you and Rob you or worse kidnap you." "Mum, no such thing shall happen to me," he responded firmly. "Dinner is ready, go freshen up. We're waiting," his mum interrupted. * * * * Dave, Peter, Joan and Chika were returning from their short outing when their car broke down. They were halfway home, close to the Outskirt of GreenVille. It was dark and foggy, no one noticed it was a full moon. "Dave, get me my tool box from the trunk, will ya?" Peter owned the car even though he drove it less but allowed them to take it out anytime. "Got a flashlight?" Dave asked "Yes, There's one here." Joan responded. Chika was fast asleep, suddenly she awoke and exited the car. "Hey, babe. Where you going?" Peter asked. "Geez, can't i take a piss any longer?" She moved closer towards the bush and crouched. Her eyes closed, still feeling drowsy. Peter fixed the car and Dave requested he try igniting the engine. Alas! Their hearts gladdened. Chika slowly walked towards to car. "I think i saw a dog, taking a peak while i pissed." "Heh, seems you had too many bottles of beer. Get in " It was past 7pm and the night grew darker. They continued their journey home even though the fog made it uneasy to drive through. The left tyre hit something sharp and bursted. The headlights went off immediately, birds chirping as they flew by. "What's wrong Pete?" David muttered. "Nothing to worry about, it's just a flat tyre. I got a spare in the trunk." He exited to car to retrieve the spare tyre from the trunk. He felt this shiver as he walked closer to the trunk. Something snarled behind him, he orbited slowly then yelled. Blood splashed over the rear glass of the car. "What was that? Chika queried. "That sounded like Peter," Dave opened the car door to come out. An invisible force pulled him away from the car. Dave screamed for help 'Help me!'. Joan closed the door behind him, She and Chika were embraced with fear. Suddenly the car's headlight turned on, A woman stood before them with blood on her clothes. The headlights flickered, the woman had transformed into a wolf. It came at them breaking through the front glass screen ripping them both to pieces. * * * * * THE NEXT DAY Jude's dad woke up, stood up from the bed and went downstairs to take his early morning tea as usual. He sat on the couch, unknowingly he sat on the TV remote and unintentionally switching it on. 'Breaking News: Four Young Adults found dead at the Crispy Highway this morning. It seemed like am animal attack but then again, What animal is capable of tearing a human being into pieces?' The newscaster spoke. "Vivian!! Jude!! It has happened again oh!" Jude ran downstairs at the sound of his dad's voice. "What happened, early this morning?" "Look at the TV." John fell on his knees, " "Chika, Dave, Peter, Joan! Its a lie" He went back to his room to get his phone, surprisingly, one voice mail. Puzzled as he was, he played the audio only to LISTEN to strange random voice followed by a message. "Cross your fingers, Say your Prayers, Darkness came before light, You shall die During daylight." He cellphone dropped from his hands. He gasped for air.. Two teenagers; Jane and Dave decided to have a romantic night out by the Greenville Lake side. Teenagers and their romantic deeds. They set up a camping tent and started a fire with a bunch of woods they fetched. Everything was going perfectly as they wanted until the wind accidentally put out the fire at exactly 8pm. Dave decided to start a new fire but his efforts were futile. The intensity of the wind grew immensely; ripped apart the nicely organized tent. Then came the ominous sounds that grew louder by second. The birds were chirping in the trees. "Dave, I'm scared. What's going on?" Jane asked with fright written all over her face. "I have no idea. Just stay behind me," Dave answered, pulling Jane behind him, who had already began whimpering.. "Who ever is there should stop this immediately and come out. If this is some kind of prank, I have no interest." The wind simmered down and the birds ceased chirping. "See everything is going to be okay," Dave assured Jane. He held her by the face, attempting to eliminate her fear. A twig snapped behind Dave. He looked back and moved closer to that area. Then he heard Jane yell. He turned around her saw her gasping for air as she dropped dead on the ground. A woman was standing behind her with a heart in her right hand. Dave observed she had ripped out Jane's heart. He yelled and took to heels; running into the woods. "Somebody help!" David yelled as he ran non-stop. Relentlessly, he continued running till he slipped and twisted his ankle. "Ah! What the?" He reclined on the bark of a tree hoping to hide from whatever killed Jane. He was panting, frightened. He did want to suffer the same fate as Jane. Dave pulled out his phone from his pockets but there wasn't any network bar. "Shit. You never get one when you need it," He said disappointedly. He put on the camera on his phone and began recording. "My name is David Alumona and I'm being chased my some woman. She killed my girlfriend. She ripped out her heart right in front of me. I twisted my ankle, no doubt I'm gonna did here but if you do find this, get the freaking bitch." He threw his phone into a nearby bush and reclined more comfortably. A twig snapped behind, Dave closed his eyes knowing it was time. He screamed as an invisible force pulled him up the tree. Some seconds later Dave's body fell to the ground headless. THE NEXT MORNING A group of people were hunting in the woods beside Greenville Lake. One of the hunters found a headless body and screamed. The rest hunters hurriedly gathered to see what happened instead saw a dead body. "What kind of animal would do this Bob?" a fellow hunter asked. "None that I know of," Bob responded as he brought out his phone and called the police. The police arrived the scene some minutes later. Detective John and Captain Jack arrived shortly afterwards. "What do we got?" Det John asked curiously. "Well, we found and ID card in the victim's jacket. His name is Dave Alumona," Officer Sam responded. "Where the hell is his head?" Captain Jack questioned awkwardly. "Um, we have no idea sir." Detective John walked up to Dave's body which was lying on the ground. 'Another strange unexplainable death' he said to himself. He heard a phone ringing nearby and traced it to closely. He found a phone lying on the ground, it was Dave's. Detective John saw the video Dave recorded on his phone before he died. "Captain, I got something," he called out. "I found Dave's phone. You gotta see this." He showed Captain Jack the video on Dave's phone. "I've seen some crazy shit but a woman ripping out people's heart? That's just absurd," Captain Jack stated. "Add beheading to the list," Detective John responded. "We gotta search the area for his dead girlfriend's body." Jane's body was found by the lake side with a hole in the chest. This was another death Detective John couldn't explain. He felt unrest, his will grew stronger. TO BE CONTINUED Written by Praise Osawaru Instagram @wordsmithpraise http://www.wordsmithpraise.com |

CHAPTER THREE - Widow's Demoniac. January 2nd, 1998. Since the death of the Dicksons, Greenville has not been the same. Rumours that a serial killer now dwells in the town has spread out like wild fire. The police still looking into the case. Investigations went on, the people were terrified. The Police department placed an early curfew, trying everything possible to keep the public at rest. No one noticed the disappearance of Mrs Mark. Neighbors simply thought she'd travelled or had decided not to come out anymore. Detective John was on patrol that day. He thought he'd stop by and see how the widow was doing, since she's not been out lately. He parked his car, walked towards the front door and knocked. There wasn't any response. He noticed newspapers laying down before the door, so he picked it up. "Yesterday's paper. Mrs Mark!" he yelled. "I'm coming in." The house was quiet, he quickly brought out his gun. He searched everywhere but couldn't find her. Her clothes and stuffs were untouched. 'She couldn't have traveled without taking any stuff,' he said to himself. He walked out of the house yelling out to the next door neighbor. "Hey! Yes, you." The old man who was mowing his lawn turned around. "Excuse me, when was the last time you saw Mrs Mark?" Det. John asked nicely. "Uh, I saw her last night." the neighbor responded. "What about this morning?" Det. John asked "Haven't seen her this morning." Numerous thoughts came running into the Detective's mind but the most possible one was that she's been killed. Maybe by the same serial killer that murdered the Dicksons. "I can't jump into conclusion yet," he said to himself. Greenville Police Station. "What's this about?" Captain Jack asked. "Uh, so I went to Mrs mark's house but I couldn't find her and her stuffs are still intact." Det. John replied hastily. "Whoa, calm down, No need to jump into conclusion yet. She could have got one out early this morning or something." "But I keep trying her cell, it rings but she doesn't pick up." "Okay, Why don't we go over and check the house again, huh?" Captain Jack asked. "Let's." Det. John responded bravely. ** A young boy was riding his bike in the neighborhood, he was putting on a headset which made it impossible to hear his surroundings. He rode fast as though he was in a hurry. As he passed the Dicksons house, he saw something through the windows. He looked towards the house whilst pedaling and unknowingly ran into a tree. Face Disfigured, Neck broken, Excessive bleeding from the head. The young lad's journey had come to an end, unfortunately. The Passers-by that witnessed it screamed out for help. Luckily the police just arriving. "WTF! Another unexplainable case." Det John said, looked towards Captain Jack. In little time,The medical team had already gotten there.. "Det. John was awed at the incident. ''This is more than an accident. It can't be a coincidence that when he happened to pass in front of this house was the moment he rode into a tree.'' The incident almost made Detective John forget the reason he was in the neighborhood. "Detective John, what is it you wanted to show?" Captain Jack stated. "Oh! I almost forgot. Mrs Mark's home is totally untouched but she's nowhere to be found." "Are you sure about that?" Captain Jack asked boldly. "Certainly." They both walked towards the front door and knocked. There wasn't any response at first. Just as Captain Jack was about to hit the door off it hinges. The door opened, it was Mrs Mark. Detective John was shocked. "Uh, I came to your house earlier but you weren't around." "I merely went for walk." she replied slowly. Captain Jack looked at Det. John, he patted him on the back and apologized for disturbing Mrs Mark. He and Det. John turned around and walked away. Detective John turned back slowly. He saw her eyes turn black for a second. His heart skipped a beat. "Hey, are you okay?" Captain Jack asked with empathy. "Um, yes." TO BE CONTINUED. Written by @wordsmithpraise. Follow to stay tuned. Www.wordsmithpraise.com |
A large crowd had gathered outside. The once lovely home of the Dicksons had now become a scene of murder. The press were present then, even the mayor herself was present. The police tried to hold back the public from knowing what happened but it was already too late. Detective John was asking the neighbors questions. After all they were the ones who called the police, complaining they heard noises from the Dicksons house at midnight. "Did you see anyone walk out the house after the noises had stopped?" Det. John asked. "No," replied Mrs. Mark; the widow who live next door. "Thank you for your time," he responded. He walked into the house. The medical team had already bagged the bodies. Yellow tapes everywhere. No evidence of a break-in. 'Who would do such a thing?' Det. John asked himself. He came outside the house and was approached by Mr Thomas; Dickson's business partner. "What the hell happened here?" he asked inquisitively. "Um, excuse me sir, this is an investigation scene. You're not supposed to be here." "What do you mean? I'm his business partner. I saw him yesterday evening. Is it true what people are saying? Is Dickson dead?" Mr Thomas rained questions at Det. John. "I'm sorry I can't tell you anything. You're gonna have to follow me to the station for some questions." Det John responded earnestly. "What! Am I a suspect now?" Mr Thomas asked furiously. "Your cooperation will be appreciated, we're just trying to understand what happened last night." Det. John replied. Mr Thomas humbly obeyed, though it was obvious he was terrified. The incident made the news. Every channel station and radio station were talking about it on air. GREENVILLE POLICE STATION 7:30pm "Okay, let's go over this again, huh?" "I already told you what I know, what more do you want?" Mr Thomas asked furiously. Det. John sat on the chair before him and folded his hands. "He left work early cause he wanted to go home?" Det John asked nicely. "Yeah, that was the last time I saw him." "You know, some would think you murdered Mr Dickson so you can get the company all to yourself," Det. John responded mildly. "What!" Mr Thomas yelled. "That's it. I wanna speak with my lawyer." Detective John got up and left the interrogation room. "Any luck with that?" Captain Jack asked. "Nope, just an innocent man who lost his business partner." Det. John replied deplorably. "Any news from the autopsy report?" "Well the cause of death is multiple stab wounds on the chest. Both father and mother except the daughter, whose death seemed like a suicide." Captain Jack replied. "A ten year old girl wouldn't know the first thing about committing suicide." Det. John responded in a baffled manner. "Another mystery." ***************** Mrs mark was washing her dishes when she noticed the lights went on in the Dicksons house. 'Who could be there by this time of the night,' she said to herself. She got her phone wanting to call the police but she didn't dial the emergency number. Instead she left her house and walked to Dicksons house. The lights began flickering, the front door shut itself behind her as she walked in. Out of curiosity she shouted, "Anyone here?!" But there was no response. She kept moving further, her will grew stronger. There was a loud noise upstairs, she got more anxious. She walked into Esther's room, it was dark and she couldn't see. She tried to bring out her phone from her pocket so she could turn on the Flashlight but it fell from her hands. She crouched to pick up her phone, she felt something push her from behind, she fell on the floor. Looking around but no one was there, she hurriedly got up and ran towards the door but it slammed her in the face and shut itself. She began banging the door and yelling out for help. "Somebody help!" she screamed. The strange voices started, the wind blew shut the window. She grabbed her phone and put on her Flashlight. She was panting, terrified. A shadowy figure appeared behind the curtains. It spooked her. Her phone fell. She screamed HELPPPPP!!! TO BE CONTINUED Written by @wordsmithpraise Follow to stay tuned. |

CHAPTER ONE - The Beginning It was New year's eve, everyone was getting prepared for the forthcoming year. The Dickson family were the most excited of all. Decorations around the house, the whole neighborhood knew they had money. The town, Greenville was the most serene of all towns. As the name goes, Greenville, the town's filled with tress and grasses which makes it the most beautiful of all places. The habitants of the town were all merrily prepping for new year, running around buying gifts, little did they know things were about to change. ''I gotta get home, I'm gonna be late for dinner and you know how my wife behaves when I get home late,'' Mr Dickson said. "Your excuse to leave work early, eh?" Mr Thomas asked jokingly. Mr Dickson and Thomas were partners, running the most thriving business in Greenvillle; Dicthom industries. "Wish Mary a happy new year for me." "heh, sure," Mr Dickson grinned. Mr Dickson stopped by a gift store to buy his wife and daughter a new year gift. That's where it all began. "Evening sir, what would you like to buy?" the Salesman asked gently. "Uh, something unique and out of the ordinary, something kids would love." The Salesman reached out for a Figurine, held it carefully as though it wielded his life. "Here sir is something out of the ordinary," he said with a broad smile on his face that seemed too genuine. "Um, if I may ask, what would this be?" Mr Dickson asked raising up his eyebrow. "Legend has it that this Figurine holds within it a demon named Duke. A bloodthirsty demon who kills for fun. He was trapped in here by a very powerful sorcerer." He responded in a spooky manner. "Uhhhh..." Mr Dickson muttered. "Kidding, it's just a tale told to scare kids. Picked this up at one of my museum visit." he replied smirking. "You almost got me," Mr Dickson laughed. "I'll take it and something else, that's lovely for my wife." He got back into his car and headed home. Esther, his daughter, opened the door and jumped on him. "Hey, baby, look what I got you." Mr Dickson said, handing over the Figurine to her. "Is this a doll? Yay, Mummy, Daddy got me a doll." she said, running towards her mum. "Oh, did he?" responded Mrs Dickson. Esther ran upstairs to go play with her doll and her dad and mum talked at the kitchen. Twenty Minutes Later : The Dicksons were at the dinning room having their dinner. They ate and laughed together. After Dinner, Mrs Dickson washed the dishes while her husband tucked Esther in bed. "Goodnight love, sweet dreams." he said to Esther, kissing her on her forehead. He then walked out of the room, turning off the lights and closing the door. Esther was just ten years old. She left the Figurine on her table. *********************** It was past midnight and the whole family were asleep that's when it began. Esther started hearing voices, her name being called. She woke up then turned on the lights but no one was in her room. She thought she had a bad dream, so she went back to sleep. It happened again, she got up and noticed the Figurine was looking towards her and it seemed as though it were smiling. She walked up to it, took it and threw it at the wall. The Figurine broke on hitting the wall. She went back to sleep thinking the voices would stop but it only became worse. She kept on hearing voices, repeatedly. She rolled on the bed and suddenly began levitating off the bed. Then her eyes turned black. She walked to the kitchen, took a knife then walked to her parents room. They were still asleep at the moment. She held out the knife and............................ TO BE CONTINUED... Written by @wordsmithpraise Visit wordsmithpraise..com to read up on it
