Bandits are jihadists not terrorists, FG can’t use full force against them: APC Chieftain, Abdulrahoof Bello A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Abdulrahoof Bello, has described bandits as jihadists, arguing that the federal government cannot deploy military force against them because there is no current law proscribing them as terrorists.Source

Bello Matawalle is the former governor of Zamfara State, between 2019 to 2023. The same Zamfara that is one of the most terror-plagued states in the northern region. During his time as governor, he had been accused by the current governor of Zamfara State, Dawda Lawal, of basically frolicking with bandits. He had been accused of colluding with bandits, keeping bandits in the government house in Zamfara, paying ransom directly to terrorists, and procuring even vehicles for popular notorious bandit kingpins like Bello Turji. Now as a Defence Minister of State, he plays the role of a middleman between terrorists and the FG. He is in charge of the "Non-kinetic" approach (ransom payments to terrorists by governments). The more ransom paid to terrorists, the richer the minister. His interest to still get involved in Zamfara security is possibly to sabotage the governor's effort, and protect his bandit boys. And where ransom is involved, he'll be at the frontline to collect his share.
|
trutharena:But defence ministers can be individuals who benefit from the insurgency, corrupt former governors and law makers, terrorists makers and sympathizers. I would not be surprised if tomorrow they create Ministry of Bandits Affairs, where he can be made a substantive minister. Such is the bane of a "disgraced country".
|
ebukal67x:Yes, he plays the role of a middleman between terrorists and the FG. He is in charge of the "Non-kinetic" approach (ransom payments to terrorists by governments). Salewa97:These are the issues at hand: The current Minister of Defence in Nigeria is Mohammed Badaru Abubakar - Jigawa state The current Minister of State for Defence of Nigeria is Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle - Zamfara state Is it a surprise to you that the ministry of defence is 100% in the hands of northerners who are sympathetic to their terrorists brothers, and are even using the terrorists to cash out? |
HgAkpobomeEr:And the many factors are too much for the government to handle? You are a learner. HgAkpobomeEr: HgAkpobomeEr: HgAkpobomeEr: HgAkpobomeEr:Non-kinetic approach means terrorists should continue to kill and kidnap, while governments continue to pay billions of naira to them in ransom to acquire more weapons. Rinse and repeat. In the end, acquire enough weapons to overrun the whole country. It seems the terrorists are so dear to your heart. |
The Nigeria Ministry of Defence is the body responsible for national security. It supervises the Nigerian armed forces, protecting the borders, overseeing defense policies, military intelligence, coordination of armed operations, procurement of weapons and advising the president on all matters relating to national security. Ideally, the minister of defence should be someone with very strong experience in military service, national defense, national security defense strategy, counter insurgency operations, intelligence work or at least expertise in defence administration; someone who understands troop deployment, conflict zones, military logistics, weapon procurement, and the very architecture of national security. Nigeria's current Minister of state for Defence is Bello Matawale. The former governor of Zamfara State, between 2019 to 2023. Yes, the same Zamfara that is one of the most terror-plagued states in the northern region. Now, you might be asking yourself, what is his qualifications for being the Minister of state for Defence, right? His background is that he started off as a teacher in a government girls' college in Izimorike in Zamfara state. Afterwards, he became a civil servant where he joined the Federal Ministry of Water Resources before giving politics a shot where he ran and won a seat in the National Assembly, and has been in politics ever since. He held multiple political positions including being a House of Reps member at some point before he became the governor of Zanfara State. And somehow, despite not having a single strand of military or defence-related experiences or expertise, not anywhere in his education or career, he is now in charge of national security for the entire country. This is a man who has never served in the armed forces, never officially trained in defense strategy, never managed a military operation, never worked in intelligence, and never handled any form of defence logistics. And yet somehow he and his principal, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, are responsible for coordinating security operations against Boko Haram, against bandits, against multiple other terrorist groups and militant groups we have across the country. More troubling, as the governor of Zamfara state, he could not control the insecurity in his state. Under his leadership, Zamfara remained one of the most terrorized states in Nigeria. After failing to secure his state as a governor, he was put in charge of securing 36 states, including the FCT. And then there were allegations. During his time as governor, he had been accused by the current governor of Zamfara State, Dawda Lawal, of basically frolicking with bandits. He had been accused of colluding with bandits, keeping bandits in the government house in Zamfara, paying ransom directly to terrorists, and procuring even vehicles for popular notorious bandit kingpins like Bello Tunji. Right after he left office, the EFCC announced a massive investigation into allegations of extensive corruption, fraudulent contract awards, and the misappropriation of funds of over 70 billion naira during his administration. This is a clear case of politicization of insecurity in Nigeria. When people with no defence experience, with unresolved controversies; people who could not secure their own states are placed in charge of the national security of the entire country, it becomes clear that appointments are not based on competence, they're based on politics; on who knows who; or who can do what for who in power. Then national security stops being about governance, protecting the people. It is now about protecting the interests of those in power. Now that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared a state of emergency on Nigeria's security situation, there is need for people like Matawalle Bello to resign. SOURCE

Over those 12 days war, Iran lost far more than Israel, by most credible reports: Iran: ~ 935 killed per official IRNA report. Israel: 28 people killed. Is Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, the 20th Sultan of Sokoto, the Hitler of the current Christian Holocaust in Nigeria, and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) consortiums the financiers of Islamist movements that are displacing Christians in Nigeria? Mike Arnold has traveled extensively across Nigeria, taking 16 trips there since 2010, including seven since 2019, solely to investigate and document the Nigerian Christian genocide/holocaust. His investigation has led him to communities ravaged by slaughter, Concentration Camps of the displaced, and the highest levels of government. On the National Security Hour, LTC Sargis Sangari, USA (Ret.), CEO of NEC-SE, sits down with Mike Arnold to discuss whether Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, the 20th Sultan of Sokoto, is the Hitler of the current Christian Holocaust in Nigeria. They also examine China’s consortium’s role in the potential financing of Islamist movements that are displacing Christians in Nigeria, which the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) exploits for the valuable metals it needs to compete against the US in future technology. As Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar is regarded as the spiritual leader of Nigeria’s approximately 124 million Muslims. Abubakar is the successor to a two-century-old throne established by his ancestor, Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio (1754-1817) who captured the northern part of Nigeria through jihads, and was the leader of the Maliki school of Islam and the Qadiri branch of Sufism. During a January 17-23, 2018, visit to northern and southern Thailand, NEC-SE founder and CEO, LTC Sargis Sangari, conducted a regional strategic assessment of the causes of the genocide crisis in Burma. The assessment revealed a pattern similar to those linked to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) influence and the genocides in Nigeria. NEC-SE found that the crisis in Burma was not, as often claimed, primarily due to discriminatory policies by Nobel Laureate Aung San Su Kyi’s government, but rather resulted from Burmese Army operations aimed at ethnically cleansing Arakan of the Rohingya and other non-Burman minority groups. At that time, China had the answer again. The Chinese government-controlled consortium known as CITIC (China International Trust Investment Corporation) was rapidly advancing a $14 billion project in the region around Kyaukphyu, where it was constructing a deep water port, an oil transport and processing facility, and other projects aimed at receiving deliveries from the Middle East and pipeline it directly to China. China had freedom of maneuver due to the positive effects it gained from the genocide. Today, Chinese trucks are still rolling through Islamic areas in Nigeria, taking vast amounts of precious metals from the region. Resently, to counter the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and stop the Christian Holocaust in Nigeria caused by Islamists, the US State Department officially upgraded Nigeria’s designation to a Country of Particular Concern” for its alleged serious violations of religious freedom and persecution of Christians. The US government assigns the CPC label to countries that commit serious violations of religious freedom under the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998. While the designation is mainly symbolic, US law requires the government to implement targeted measures in response to religious freedom violations. As US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth states, America is preparing for potential action over the killings of Christians in Nigeria. The US again identifies a connection between the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Islamist groups, a Holocaust in Africa, and corrupt government officials. As the US prepares to negotiate these economic, governance, and security lines of effort in Nigeria, Mike Arnold suggests a new approach for US intervention to end the Nigerian Holocaust. He suggests that, besides using all necessary force to eliminate the jihadis, there must also be targeting of all sympathizers, beneficiaries like the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) consortiums and networks, collaborators, apologists, and facilitators. Shari’ah Council Asks Tinubu To Immediately Sack INEC Chairman, Prof Amupitan https://www.nairaland.com/8557313/shariah-council-asks-tinubu-immediately |
INEC Chairman Prof Amupitan wrote United Nations in 2020 on Christian genocide in Nigeria. A 2020 legal brief by Prof Joash Amupitan, Tinubu’s new INEC Chairman, described Nigeria’s mass killings as genocide, urging UN intervention. A Controversial Past Comes to Light Nigeria’s political and human rights landscape is once again under scrutiny following revelations that Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN), newly appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), once authored a legal brief describing the country’s internal conflicts as “acts of genocide.” The document, titled “Legal Brief: Genocide in Nigeria – The Implications for the International Community,” forms part of a 2020 report published by the International Committee on Nigeria (ICON) — a coalition of human rights advocates based in Nigeria and abroad. 1. The 2020 Report: “Nigeria’s Silent Slaughter” The 2020 ICON report, “Nigeria’s Silent Slaughter,” included a legal submission by Prof Amupitan, then a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and head of Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN) & Co. Legal Practitioners & Corporate Consultants, with offices in Jos and Abuja. In the paper, Amupitan asserted that it was “a notorious fact that crimes under international law — including genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity — were being perpetrated in Nigeria.” 2. Strong Accusations: Government Failure to Protect Minorities Prof Amupitan’s legal analysis was a direct indictment of the Nigerian state. He accused successive governments of failing to prosecute offenders and protect vulnerable groups, especially Christians and minority communities in northern Nigeria. He warned that Nigeria risked repeating the mistakes of Rwanda and Sudan, where international hesitation led to mass atrocities. 3. Boko Haram and Fulani Herdsmen in Focus The brief identified two extremist movements — Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen — as major perpetrators of violence, responsible for widespread killings and displacement. Amupitan criticized the government for recognizing Boko Haram as a terrorist organization in 2013 while failing to officially label Fulani herdsmen as terrorists, despite their violent campaigns across several states. 4. Constitutional Neglect and Moral Responsibility Amupitan wrote that Nigeria’s constitutional failure to protect its citizens had made international intervention both a legal and moral necessity. “The victims of the crises are mainly Christians and minority ethnic groups,” he argued, calling for “remedial actions under international law.” He emphasized that the Nigerian government’s neglect of its duty to provide welfare and security violated the fundamental principles upon which the state is built. 5. Historical Roots: From Jihad to Modern Extremism In tracing the roots of Nigeria’s ethno-religious conflicts, Amupitan linked modern-day violence to the Fulani-led jihad of Uthman Dan Fodio in 1804, describing it as a “full-blown Islamization agenda.” He argued that the legacy of the Sokoto Caliphate’s expansionism continues to influence Nigeria’s political and religious tensions today, with the same ideological motivations fueling extremist groups. 6. The Politics of Denial: Why “Genocide” Is Avoided Amupitan accused Nigerian authorities — and by extension, the international community — of deliberately avoiding the use of the word “genocide” to escape accountability under global law. “States are skeptical of naming genocide because doing so obligates them to act,” he wrote. “Concealing genocide becomes a strategy to guard sovereignty and protect ego — at the expense of innocent lives.” 7. The Legal Argument: When Sovereignty Fails, Intervention Is Justified Prof Amupitan’s legal conclusion was unambiguous: when a state fails to protect its own citizens, international law permits external intervention. “In a globalized world,” he wrote, “state sovereignty diminishes to accommodate the collective interest of humanity through consent, consensus, and compelling norms.” This stance places Amupitan firmly within the school of thought supporting the “Responsibility to Protect” (R2P) doctrine — a controversial principle in international law. 8. International Appeal: Call for UN and Global Action The legal brief made a direct appeal to the United Nations, international courts, and global powers to take neutral action in Nigeria’s crisis. He urged “neutral and impartial third-party intervention”, suggesting that the UN Security Council, regional peacekeepers, and economic superpowers had a legal obligation to prevent further bloodshed. 9. Implications for Tinubu’s Administration The revelation of Amupitan’s authorship raises questions about how his past human rights advocacy will shape his tenure as INEC Chairman. Observers argue that his outspoken views on government accountability could either reinforce his image as a principled reformer or spark political friction in Nigeria’s already divided landscape. 10. National Reaction: Mixed Responses from Civil Society Human rights groups have praised Amupitan’s earlier stance as bold and intellectually consistent, while political analysts express concern about possible perceptions of bias in his new role. For now, both supporters and critics await how his previous calls for justice will align with his new responsibility of safeguarding electoral integrity under Tinubu’s leadership. Conclusion: Between Law, Morality, and Leadership Prof Amupitan’s 2020 legal brief remains one of the most explicit academic indictments of Nigeria’s internal violence. Now, as the nation’s chief electoral umpire, his challenge will be to translate his past advocacy for justice into transparency, fairness, and accountability in Nigeria’s democratic process. https://www.thecheernews.com/exposed-inec-chairman-prof-amupitan-wrote-united-nations-in-2020-on-christian-genocide-in-nigeria/ Nlfpmod

The Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN) has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately reverse the appointment of the newly inaugurated Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan. The Shari'ah Council's call on Saturday followed SaharaReporters’ exclusive report that revealed that Professor Amupitan once authored a legal brief in 2020 containing SaharaReporters had on Thursday exclusively obtained the report titled "Nigeria's Silent Slaughter" where the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, in his legal brief, called for urgent intervention to stop what he termed “pogrom and attacks against the Christians and minority groups in Nigeria.” Amupitan, recently appointed by President Bola Tinubu to head the country's electoral commission, had titled his contribution, “Legal Brief: Genocide in Nigeria – The Implications for the International Community." The document — published by the International Committee on Nigeria (ICON), a global advocacy network promoting human rights and religious freedom — was officially signed under Amupitan’s law firm, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN) & Co., Legal Practitioners & Corporate Consultants, with offices in Jos and Abuja. The Shari'ah council described Amupitan's legal brief as “provocative, distorted and bigoted assertions” against Muslims in Northern Nigeria. In a statement issued on Friday, November 7, 2025 (16th Jumada I 1447 AH), the SCSN said it received with “deep disappointment and grave concern” the SaharaReporters investigation alleging that Amupitan’s 2020 legal document characterised Northern violence as “Christian genocide” and linked the insecurity in the North to the 19th-century Jihad of Sheikh Uthman bn Fodio. The Council said it found such a stance “regrettable and disturbing”, especially from someone “now entrusted with overseeing Nigeria’s democratic integrity.” “If indeed Prof. Amupitan authored the said document, his submissions are not only unbecoming of a person of learning but dangerously inimical to the unity, peace, and stability of our country,” the statement read. The Council described Amupitan’s reported claims as “divisive, sectarian, abusive, and factually inaccurate narratives against a majority faith community.” It further “categorically debunked the falsehood” contained in his alleged analysis of “Christian genocide,” insisting that the violence ravaging Northern and North-Central Nigeria is multi-dimensional and not a one-sided religious persecution. “If we strip away the mischievous emotional language and examine the facts objectively, the reality is that the violence in Northern and North-Central Nigeria is complex and multi-dimensional. Both Muslims and Christians have suffered immensely from extremist attacks, banditry, and communal conflicts rooted in accumulated neglect, poverty, and social injustice.” Citing humanitarian data, the SCSN claimed that Muslims have suffered more casualties than any other group in the ongoing crises. “Credible humanitarian data from independent and international sources reveal that Muslims have suffered more casualties in these conflicts than any other group. This is an incontrovertible reality easily verified by mapping the epicentres of violence from Borno to Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, and Yobe, where over 90 percent of the victims are Muslims.” The Council condemned what it called Amupitan’s attempt to associate modern insecurity with the historic jihad of Sheikh Uthman bn Fodio, describing it as “a malicious distortion of history and a deliberate insult.” “The Jihad of Sheikh Uthman was not a war of hatred or extermination; it was a spiritual, moral, and social reform movement that restored justice, knowledge, and governance rooted in ethics. These instituted ideals are still admired across the African continent today.” The SCSN said Amupitan’s record and writings “call into serious question his ability to conduct free and fair elections in a multi-religious, multi-ethnic nation.” “Presiding over Nigeria’s electoral system demands the highest standards of neutrality, fairness, and inclusivity. By his own words, Prof. Amupitan has demonstrated a deep-seated prejudice that calls into serious question his ability to conduct free and fair elections.” The Council, therefore, demanded that President Tinubu “immediately review and reverse” Amupitan’s appointment, declaring that “the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral process cannot be entrusted to someone whose record reveals open hostility toward one of the country’s largest faith communities.” The statement also appealed for calm among Nigerians across all religious divides, urging both Muslims and Christians to unite against common national threats. “We urge all Nigerians, Muslims and Christians alike, to reject narratives that seek to pit one faith against another. Our common enemies are injustice, corruption, poverty, and insecurity.” The Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria, in conclusion, reaffirmed its commitment to peace, unity, and the pursuit of truth based on fairness and mutual respect. https://saharareporters.com/2025/11/08/breaking-nigerian-shariah-council-asks-tinubu-immediately-sack-inec-chairman-prof Nlfpmod

Which China? The one that is supporting terrorists in the north to gain access to illegal mining sites in Nigeria? Nigerian Senator Adams Oshiomhole once accused China of stealing Nigeria’s resources, arming bandits and terrorist groups to protect their illegal mining sites.
Nigerian leaders do not have world support, they only have the support of the countries they are trying to lobby to help them clean up their mess, whom they are going to exchange something for. Nigeria is a sovereign nation. The same sovereign nation has a constitution that says Nigeria is a secular state, but Sharia law has been forcefully implemented in the northern Nigeria against the secularity of Nigeria to create enabling environment for Islamic terrorists in and outside Nigeria to grow. The end result would always be to kilI those who oppose their jihadist ideology towards establishing their caliphate in Nigeria. Without this move by Trump, Nigeria would soon become the terrorists headquarters of the world, where all terrorists organizations would have their bases. Every peace loving Nigeria, moslem, christian, traditional worshiper should support any country that want to help us stop terrorism in Nigeria since the Nigeria government has failed us.

Peter Obi Reacts To Trump's Redesignation Of Nigeria As Country Of Concern The recent pronouncement by the US government declaring Nigeria a ‘Country of Particular Concern' (CPC) and indicating possible military action should give every well-meaning Nigerian serious concern. There is no doubt that Nigeria is experiencing an unprecedented level of insecurity with attendant carnage and the most shocking loss of lives and property. According to Amnesty International, over 10,000 people have been killed in Nigeria since May 2023 and as I have repeatedly lamented, the unwarranted and unprovoked killing of Nigerians is most condemnable, and all efforts must be made to bring it to a stop. It is equally important to state that the terrible situation is significantly avoidable with competent leadership and governance. While the insecurity did not start with the present government, what is most unfortunate is the lack and absence of competence, commitment, prudent use of resources, patriotism and passion on the part of APC APC-led government/leaders to effectively govern, galvanise and lead Nigeria where no one is unwarrantedly oppressed and killed, a Nation where peace, truth and justice reign! As democracies, Nigeria and the US have long been strategic partners committed to regional peace and security. That relationship should not falter. The present situation calls for constructive diplomatic and any other plausible engagement by both nations aimed at addressing the prevailing and disturbing security concerns. Both countries must work in concert and expeditiously towards that purpose. -PO https://www.nairaland.com/8553805/peter-obi-reacts-trumps-redesignation |
Every country playing politics with its security, that wants to be politically correct as not to offend those with radical ideology, in the voice of VDM, "Don't play. If you play, you gonna learn in a hard way." |
Anything to stop the persecution of christians in Nigeria, especially in the North by Islamic terrorists emboldened by sharia law is a welcome development.

President Vladimir Putin when will you take over Ukraine? Aren't you working with your two weeks timeline anymore? Empty bully!!!! |
surgical:You don't mean it. Nigerians deserve the kind of leaders the have. This is the kind of reasoning that will continue to leave so many in poverty, while the political class keeps stealing their common wealth. So Tinubu looting the treasury for the so - called fuel importation using his proxies is called checking Dangote's monopoly. The same Dangote that is exporting fuel to other African countries and the USA. How come for decades the government couldn't manage the refineries to produce fuel for local consumption and export to check monopoly long before Dangote came on board? Isn't it crude oil they kept exporting, and importing fuel from time immemorial to keep stealing? It's so unfortunate. |

This is the right way to go. If the states in the north, especially kano state, can get it right in the power sector, they can revive their inactive industries, build new industries and create jobs which will reduce the rate of insecurity in that region. |
KingOfAmebo:Look at this one. So all these years of schooling on social media you don't know that a reported speech on media is made in past tense? Or you don't know when someone uses “I could” in what seems like the present tense, it usually doesn’t mean the same as simple past — instead, it expresses polite possibility (present or future). Like Putin, like so many empty brains with loud mouths. |
Iamzik:The war is ungoing, and nobody says Ukraine has won Russia. What sane people say is that the big mouth bully Putin hasn't overrun Ukraine in 2 weeks as he boasted. The e-propagandists can keep circulating old content to mask Putin's military weakness in the name of victory. Morial lesson: Never make it easy for any bully. |
