🇷🇺 President Vladimir Putin received in the Kremlin the widow of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Akie Abe.

The meeting took place at the Kremlin on Thursday. It is not clear what brought Abe to the capital to meet the Russian leader.

Abe touched on Putin's visit in 2016 to Yamaguchi Prefecture in western Japan for summit talks with her husband. The prefecture was the former prime minister's home constituency.

She described Russia as a "very important neighbour for Japan," and said she would be happy if cultural exchanges between the two countries could develop.

Putin said Russia remembers the late prime minister's contribution to the development of Russian-Japanese cooperation.

He said Abe's dream was concluding a peace treaty between the two nations, and noted that the Japanese leader "pursued it earnestly."

Putin added, "We made significant progress together on this path."

After the meeting, Putin provided his private vehicle, the Aurus Senat limousine, to take Abe to the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.

🇷🇺 Russian President Vladimir Putin has rejected President Donald Trump’s push to have the next round of Russia-Ukraine peace talks at the Vatican – an idea the president has floated since the newly appointed American pontiff, Pope Leo XIV, suggested it earlier this month.

Special Envoy Keith Kellogg confirmed the news while speaking on "Fox & Friends" Tuesday morning when he said, "The Russians didn’t want to go there" and suggested that instead the talks could next be held in Geneva.

Though it remains unclear when another round of talks will be held as Russia has yet to agree to the U.S.’s peace proposal and its foreign ministry on Tuesday claimed it was still working on its memorandum of terms.

Trump on Tuesday took to social media to issue a warning to Putin and said he's "playing with fire."

"What Vladimir Putin doesn’t realize is that if it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD," he wrote on Truth Social. "He’s playing with fire!"

Similarly, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Moscow of "playing games" after it carried out the largest drone strike ever in the three-year-long war in a Sunday attack in which Russia launched 335 drones and nine cruise missiles at civilian targets.

The attack prompted Trump to condemn Putin as "crazy" in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

"I've always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him," Trump said Sunday. "He has gone absolutely CRAZY!

He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I'm not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever," he added.

Trump took it one step further and warned Putin that should he attempt to take "all of Ukraine…it will lead to the downfall of Russia."

The Kremlin clapped back at Trump and accused him of being "emotional."

When asked about the president’s comments, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, "We are really grateful to the Americans and to President Trump personally for their assistance in organizing and launching this negotiation process.

"This is a very crucial moment, which is associated, of course, with the emotional overload of everyone absolutely and with emotional reactions," he added, according to a Reuters report.

The six people onboard a plane that crashlanded in a 🇺🇸 California neighborhood amid dense fog were all killed, according to investigating authorities.

The Cessna 550 Citation, which federal records show belonged to music agent Dave Shapiro, struck a power line before plummeting into a residential area of San Diego at 3:47 am (1047 GMT) on Thursday, according to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

"The pilot and passengers were fatally injured," NTSB investigator Dan Baker told a press conference on Friday. He added that no one on the ground had been seriously hurt.

While Baker did not specify the number of fatalities, the US Federal Aviation Administration previously said the private plane had six people onboard.

The San Diego County medical examiner's office named three of the victims as Shapiro, 42, Emma Huke, 25, and Celina Kenyon, 36.

Music veteran Shapiro was a co-founder of Sound Talent Group, which has represented artists including Sum 41 and Vanessa Carlton.

The company told US media that two other members of its staff, booking assistants Huke and Kendall Fortner, were also killed in the crash.

"We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues and friends. Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted," Sound Talent Group said in a statement.

Kenyon was a professional photographer and mother, according to her social media. Her father, Bryan Charles Feldman, told NBC7 she had chosen to fly home early with friends after a photo shoot rather than take a commercial plane so she could take her daughter to school the next day.

NBC7 identified the other victims as software engineer Dominic Damian and Daniel Williams, a former drummer for metalcore band The Devil Wears Prada.
