Three people have reportedly been killed in a small plane has crashed near 🇺🇸 Boca Raton Airport in Florida.

The death toll was reported by local media but has not been confirmed by authorities.

Videos of the scene showed smoke billowing from several fires at the side of a highway lined with palm trees.

The aircraft had reported mechanical issues at around 10.17am, according to BocaNewsNow.

Boca Raton Police said the N Military Trail was closed between NW 19th St and Butts Rd “due to a small aircraft crash”. It added that the I-95 overpass was also and urged people to “avoid the area”.

The crash comes hours after a Spanish family of five was killed in a helicopter crash on Thursday.

The aircraft plunged into the Hudson river during a New York skyline sightseeing tour to celebrate one of the children’s birthdays.

The 36-year-old pilot, who was also killed, has not been identified.

🇷🇺 Russia and the 🇺🇸 U.S carried out a prisoner swap early Thursday in Abu Dhabi in a sign of continuing confidence building, as the two sides pursue a deal to end the war in Ukraine.

A Russian-American woman freed by Moscow arrived back in the United States late Thursday as part of a prisoner swap completed as the two countries aim to repair ties.

A plane carrying Ksenia Karelina landed around 11 p.m. EDT at Joint Base Andrews, where she was greeted by her fiancé. Morgan Ortagus, President Donald Trump’s deputy special envoy to the Middle East, presented her with a bouquet.

She was released earlier in the day in exchange for a Russian-German man who’d been jailed in the U.S. on smuggling charges.

Karelina was arrested in the Ural Mountains city of Yekaterinburg in February 2024 and convicted of treason on charges stemming from a donation of about $52 to a charity aiding Ukraine. U.S. authorities have called the case “absolutely ludicrous.”

“They released the young ballerina and she is now out, and that was good. So we appreciate that,” President Donald Trump said at a Cabinet meeting Thursday. He said the release followed conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Arthur Petrov was released as part of the swap in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, according to the Federal Security Service, or FSB, Russia’s main security and counterintelligence agency. Petrov was arrested in Cyprus in August 2023 at the request of the U.S. on charges of smuggling sensitive microelectronics to Russia and extradited to the U.S. a year later.

Karelina was among a growing number of Americans arrested in Russia in recent years as tensions between Moscow and Washington spiked over the war in Ukraine.

Her release is the latest in a series of high-profile prisoner exchanges Russia and the U.S carried out in the last three years — and the second since Trump took office and reversed Washington’s policy of isolating Russia in an effort to end the war in Ukraine.

Lol. I think he didn’t put tariffs on Russia because the U.S. already has heavy sanctions that have cut trade between the two countries to almost nothing.

With little trade left, adding tariffs wouldn’t make much difference. Trade between the two countries is limited at this point.
